Formula 1: The GOAT

{Radio Check?}

{”Loud and clear,”} Fatih said as he adjusted his fireproof gloves, just as Lisa dropped the double screen in front of him to allow him to go through the session plan for the final time.

{We are five minutes from the green flag and the start of our first session, so calm your nerves and get ready,} James said, trying to calm Fatih down, though it was very clear that he was the nervous one of the two.

Mhhhhh, Fatih took a deep breath, Fwoooo, before he exhaled, and as his eyes focused on the screen, he brought forward the new mission he had received the moment he received his super license.

.......

The moment he was granted his super license, the system instantly gave him two missions. One was a season-wide mission, which, unlike previous times when the missions locked his access to the system shop, this time that didn’t happen.

That alone had been enough to make him take a deep breath, as he knew the system never considered any of the given missions as impossible for him to achieve, despite being in a top-of-the-midfield car.

The penalty in case he failed to achieve at least a single achievement was steep, but he was not worried at all since he was confident he would be able to achieve at least one of the milestones.

As for his second mission, it was a race mission, something he hadn’t experienced in quite a long time.

Upon seeing the weekend mission, he had wondered what the hidden achievements might be, but he decided to give up on that since he didn’t know what the system’s complete criteria were going to be. He knew that, so long as he did something unique, it had a very high chance of being counted as one.

......

{Fifty seconds to green light,} James said again on the radio, bringing Fatih back from looking at the system mission to the screen that was in front of him.

{I’m ready,} Fatih said into the radio as a mechanic raised the screen, returning it to its storage position. Lisa was now standing in front of him at the garage exit, walking backward and looking in both directions before giving Fatih a thumbs-up, clearing him to leave the garage.

Closing the visor, Fatih engaged the clutch as he left the garage, entering the tight pit lane. He started heading to the pit exit line, coming to a stop a short distance from the limiter line where the lights were still red, meaning he was not allowed to leave. He was the first driver to leave the garage, resulting in him being alone on the track for a few seconds before, finally, an Aston Martin joined him in waiting.

A few seconds later, the lights finally turned green, marking the start of the first Free Practice of the weekend.

Wasting no time, he once again engaged the throttle and exited the pit lane, remaining on the right side of the white line into Turn 1 before finally fully engaging the throttle at the exit of Turn 2, where the pit lane line came to an end and he was considered to have fully entered the track, which was under green conditions.

He was finally on the track, and he had no intention of wasting too much time getting to know it because he was confident that he knew the track better than Charles, who was born and grew up in Monaco.
