Firmament Sword

Recently, abnormal phenomena on the Sect Continent have put the major sects on high alert. People were puzzled. What was going on? Where did all these strange experts suddenly come from?

Although there wasn’t much interaction between the Ancient Race Continent and the Sect Continent, it wasn’t nonexistent. Thus, it wasn’t long before many people on the Sect Continent received some astonishing news.

”Beidou’s Eighth Star… is on the Sect Continent!”

This news caused an immediate sensation. Many experts of the Sect Continent began scheming, ’How can I get a piece of this pie!’

The legend of Beidou’s Eighth Star wasn’t just circulating on the Ancient Race Continent; some of the ancient sects on the Sect Continent knew of it as well.

If only a few people were spreading the rumor, these sects wouldn’t have paid it much mind. But now, with a massive influx of experts from the Ancient Race Continent, the major sects of the Sect Continent had no choice but to take it seriously.

”Beidou’s Eighth Star? The people of the Ancient Race really know how to make a fuss. To think they actually managed to find him. Excellent. This time... I’ll let the Ancient Race do the heavy lifting for me,” said a young man who appeared to be in his twenties, but whose gaze held an incredibly profound light.

He wore a suit of Golden Battle Garment that seemed to ripple with light. From a distance, it looked as if a golden liquid was constantly flowing over his clothes.

”Speaking of which, Beidou’s Eighth Star… did render a great service to the Human Race back then. He faced the Kunpeng, only to end up perishing. It’s quite lamentable. Now, after so many years, he has finally been reincarnated, only to face countless people with greedy hearts… Heh, it seems a bit ironic.”

The speaker was an old man sitting opposite the young man in the Golden Battle Garment. He wore a worn-out Daoist robe, his topknot casually held by a wooden hairpin. A faint, indistinct Yin Yang Diagram was printed on the back of his robe. The old man took a light sip of tea, his eyes half-closed as he spoke faintly.

”Elder Xiao, are you being sarcastic with me?” The young man in the Golden Battle Garment grinned, revealing a set of perfectly neat, jade-white teeth.

”How would I dare… You are a god from the Divine Domain. This old man… is just a decrepit fossil with one foot in the grave,” the old Daoist said faintly. He then opened his eyes and glanced at the flawlessly handsome young man across from him. ”I just want to remind you of one thing: the Eighth Star is not alone.”

”Are you talking about the fall of the seven stars back then?” The young man leaned back in his chair, looking at the old man with a hint of disdain. ”They are merely seven wills, not worth mentioning. If their true selves were here, then I might have to consider it carefully.”

”You’ve decided?” The old Daoist glanced at the young man and sighed softly when he saw the fighting spirit filling those profound eyes.

”That’s right. I have no interest in becoming an immortal or a god. I just want to see how much strength Beidou’s Eighth Star, whose power was once unrivaled in the world, has left!” The young man’s eyes flashed with intense battle lust.

”The current Eighth Star has not yet fully matured.” The old Daoist sighed, then waved his hand. ”Show our guest out!”

”Hahaha, you old rascal, are you angry already?” The young man laughed heartily, stood up, and walked out without a backward glance. ”That’s right, I do want to refine Beidou’s Eighth Star. Otherwise, how could I ever return to the Divine Domain?” he said as he left.

Behind him, the old Daoist remained silent, rocking back and forth in his chair… as if he had fallen asleep.

The young man didn’t seem to be moving quickly, but in the blink of an eye, he was already hundreds of thousands of feet away, his steps as fluid as drifting clouds and flowing water.

Soon, the young man’s shimmering golden figure completely vanished into thin air.

The old Daoist in the rocking chair slowly opened his eyes. He looked up at the endless Cangqiong above and muttered, ”A grand cycle of a million years. Is it starting again?”

「...」

”Young Master, I have news about him. However, there is a long blank period. This servant has exhausted all means, but I was unable to find out what he was doing during that time.”

An exquisitely beautiful woman holding a file spoke softly to a man of about twenty-eight or twenty-nine, who sat there looking as radiant as jade.

The man’s appearance was also of the perfect sort; you couldn’t find a single flaw on him!

If Xu Luo were here, he would definitely have recognized this person and been incredibly surprised.

Because this man was Young Master Feng!

The same Young Master Feng who had lived in seclusion in the Cangqiong Imperial Capital for many years, his appearance never changing!

This was a great mountain on the Sect Continent.

No one could have imagined that Young Master Feng, who had lived in the Cangqiong Imperial Capital for so many years… would actually appear on a great, spirit-filled mountain on the Sect Continent.

”I don’t blame you. The Eighth Star… is bound to have his own methods.” Young Master Feng smiled and said, ”But this sensational news, have you heard how it got out?”

”This servant couldn’t trace the source, but I suspect… it’s very likely that Young Master Xu released it himself!” the woman said with a radiant smile. ”Of course, this is just your servant’s own speculation.”

”It’s fine, go on,” Young Master Feng said calmly.

”Then this servant will just speak freely, and you may listen as you please, Young Master.” The peerless beauty slowly walked behind Young Master Feng, extended a pair of slender, delicate hands, and began to gently knead his shoulders.

”Let’s start from when he left the Central Plains Star Continent.”

”Back then, the Huo Family from the Ancient Race—don’t they have a Saint Ancestor skilled in the Inference Skill? He must have divined that the Eighth Star would appear in the Cangqiong Kingdom on the Central Plains Star Continent. So they sent some people to secretly infiltrate the Central Plains Star Continent to investigate.”

”Unexpectedly, the clues leading to the Eighth Star were extremely obvious, far easier to find than they had imagined… so the people from the Ancient Race were caught somewhat off guard.”

”However, Young Master Xu must have already been aware of something at the time. Even if he wasn’t certain that he was the Eighth Star, he should have at least known that someone meant him harm.”

”At that time, many sects on the Central Plains Star Continent viewed Young Master Xu as a major threat. After all, the speed at which he improved his strength was a bit too astonishing.”

”So, you could say that Young Master Xu has never been able to rest easy, which naturally made him much more vigilant.”

”After the sect assembly on the Central Plains Star Continent concluded, a massive Spirit Stone Vein was discovered in the Cangqiong Empire. Young Master Xu appeared there and used some technique to drain the entire vein dry…”

At this point, the woman covered her mouth with her hand and chuckled. From behind Young Master Feng, she said, ”Those poor people from the sects. They exhausted all their schemes and efforts, only for that little fellow Xu Luo to reap all the benefits.”

Young Master Feng also chuckled. ”He handled that matter very well! Clever enough, and decisive enough!”

”Mm. Later, those people from the Huo Family of the Ancient Race found Young Master Xu and began to hunt him down. I don’t know the details of that battle, but the result was that the Huo Family lost three people at the Divine Power Realm, one was crippled, and their strongest member was also heavily injured.”

”Young Master Xu disappeared afterward. When he reappeared, it should have been on the Ancient Race Continent, because recently, a very famous expert couple there has been hunting down those who mean Young Master Xu harm. The man is called the Demon King, and it is said that he is bloodthirsty and is doing this to claim Beidou’s Eighth Star for himself…”

”But from this servant’s perspective, that’s not the case. I’ve investigated the information related to that couple. The woman is named Chu Xiaoya. Her face was once disfigured, but now it has returned to normal… So, your servant thinks it’s possible that Young Master Xu had some dealings with them and did them a great favor!”

Young Master Feng nodded, a look of approval in his eyes. ”Yue’Er, you’re getting smarter and smarter. No wonder Xing’Er always says you bully her.”

”Aiya, Young Master, that little rascal Xing’Er is spouting nonsense. How could Yue’Er possibly bully her?” the peerless beauty pouted, lightly tapping Young Master Feng’s shoulder twice.

”Hehe, continue,” Young Master Feng chuckled. But deep within his eyes, where Yue’Er couldn’t see, a flash of weariness appeared.

”Based on the couple’s actions, your servant guesses that Young Master Xu probably went to the Ancient Race Continent first. There’s just one thing your servant can’t figure out.”

”After some investigation, your servant found that the first person to discover Young Master Xu… was actually a good-for-nothing silkpants from the Huo Family. His name is Huo Feng. He had entered the Central Plains Star Continent before and seems to have even met Young Master Xu. He was never valued by his family, but who would have thought that after he returned, he was like a completely different person… Although his temperament didn’t change much, his way of doing things changed dramatically…”

”During the period when this Huo Feng was active, Young Master Xu… was completely silent. The next news about Young Master Xu claimed he was on the Sect Continent, and this news actually came from the Huo Family.”

”So, your servant is also a bit confused. I was wondering if that Huo Feng could be Young Master Xu in disguise… But with so many experts in the Huo Family, plus an Ancestor whose Inference Skill is unrivaled in the world, it can’t be that every single one of them is blind, right?”

The peerless beauty spoke with a puzzled expression as she massaged Young Master Feng’s shoulders.

If Xu Luo were here and heard the words of this peerless beauty, he would have broken out in a cold sweat from shock. It was truly hard to imagine that someone so intelligent existed in this world, able to deduce so much from the tiniest of clues.

What was even more frightening was that her deductions were almost the exact truth!

”This matter… is a bit strange. After hearing it, I also feel that the whole thing has a bizarre feel to it. Perhaps it’s a trap.”

Young Master Feng said softly, ”Perhaps that kid Xu Luo wants to lure all those who are hostile to him and have designs on him into a trap and wipe them all out in one go.”

Yue’Er’s beautiful face was filled with disbelief. Her mouth fell slightly open as she exclaimed, ”That can’t be, right? Even for you, Young Master… to trap and annihilate so many experts at once would be difficult, wouldn’t it?”

”What do you mean ’difficult’? Do you think your Young Master is a god? Don’t try to soften the blow; I can’t do it!” Young Master Feng rolled his eyes in exasperation.

”Hee hee, in my heart, the Young Master is a god!” Yue’Er said seriously, a gorgeous smile on her face.
