Falling For My Alpha Stepsister (GL)

April

I remember when my mother got married to Ms. Morningstar. The first thing she did was change my last name. From growing up as April January to becoming April Morningstar.

Now I know why. She was in a haste.

That last name carried power.

My time in college was quiet. I could remember the professors changing their tone the moment they saw the name. Students whispered whenever I entered the class or passed by. Some wanted to be my friend, some feared me, but it wasn’t me. It was the name.

Even when I applied for the library job, I remember them asking over and over if applying to be a librarian was my final decision.

The name Morningstar was louder than my own name.

I sat down on the cool sand, looking at the night waves. They were beautiful even at nighttime.

My eyes darted to the huts around me. I noticed people staring at me, and the moment I looked at them, they pretended to be focused on something else. The fear and curiosity in their eyes were plain to see, making me feel like an alien dropped right into the middle of their party.

Then my eyes stopped at one particular hut.

It was Angel, being cozy with two random girls wearing bikinis.

One was on her lap, and the other was sitting beside her.

The way they were laughing gave me a deep ache inside my chest.

I could feel my blood boiling and the intense urge to go over there and punch that devil and those girls off her lap. My fingernails bit sharply into the palms of my hands as I watched Angel tilt her head back, letting out a dark laugh while one of the girls ran a hand down her bare shoulder.

I forced myself to look away and focus on the margarita given to me.

I’m not a drinker, but I’m the one drinking now.

Not a surprise.

I have been doing things I never thought I’d do.

A week ago, I was a virgin.

A week ago, I had never touched any other woman’s breasts but mine.

A week ago, I had never tasted a dick.

A week ago, my heart was safe.

And today I am the opposite.

Oh, fuck me... I can’t believe I let my guard down. I should have used a defensive firewall.

Maybe I should ask Angel what type of firewall she is using for that heart of hers.

Or maybe she doesn’t have one.

The devil doesn’t have a heart after all.

My margarita was finished, so I stood up, walked to the bar, and ordered another one. The loud music vibrated under my feet as I leaned against the counter, my mind spinning into a dark cloud.

While I was drinking, still at the bar, a familiar voice reached me.

”Oh, my, God... April Morningstar is at a party, wearing a bikini and drinking. Is this the end of the world?”

Katie suddenly sat down beside me and ordered tequila shots.

”Hi, Katie...” I muttered, focused on my drink. I didn’t even turn to face her, keeping my straw between my lips as I sucked down the salty rim.

”What are you doing here? Oh, shit... Was it Angel who brought you to the district?” Katie gasped, leaning forward with her jaw resting in her palm.

”I should be asking you what you’re doing here.”

”Well, I am a regular here in the district. And since yesterday was the Madam of this district’s daughter’s wedding, there’s a whole week of non-stop celebration.”

”Madam?” I asked because I thought I heard that Angel’s mom owned the district, and Angel didn’t look like the one getting married.

She seemed to be the one enjoying the wedding.

”Yes, the Madam of the district. She controls every single zone here.”

”I don’t get it. I thought the Morningstars were the ones who controlled this place.”

”The Morningstars own the district, but there are ranks. Since this is your first time here, let me explain.

Obviously, this is not my first time here. Because of Katie, I searched online for where to buy sex toys, and it wasn’t around the mansion before people started with their annoying stares.

So the Moon Sex Shop popped up.

”You see, this is an Entertainment District called the Moonlight District. At night it’s always alive, and during the day it’s the quietest place on earth. The one they call Madam is the one who oversees the place like a manager, and there’s the landlord, who is called Master, which is Mrs. Annie Morningstar, the owner of the district. You get it now?” Katie explained, downing her shot in one smooth motion.

”So this is a place for prostitutes?”

”Don’t say it like that. It’s called an Entertainment District. There are other things besides that. Businesses run here, clubs, restaurants, shops, houses, and sports. There are many outdoor activities. Like your sister Angel. She may be the next to inherit the district, but she’s good at sports events. That’s her concentration.”

”So this is why you don’t do the night shift and look tired all during the day. And you’ve known Angel before.”

”Well, I had heard about her. If she hadn’t walked into the library that day and I called her, I wouldn’t have known she was the one they call Young Master.”

I stopped listening as my eyes went back to that bitch who was enjoying the company of two women.

So that is why Angel comes home late and is barely ever home. The only time she was home was when she brought those sluts to her room to give me a headache with all those noises.

And that time I saw her by the pool.

I couldn’t help but get annoyed by the scene before me.

Holding their asses and squeezing them. Deep-throat kissing.

They should just have sex in public rather than displaying the act here.

My jaw tightened until it hurt, my stomach twisting into a tight knot of unknown feeling and frustration.

I wrapped my hand tightly around my glass and gulped down the margarita.

I asked for another.

And another.

The sharp burn of alcohol began to blur the edges of my vision, heating my blood until I couldn’t hear Katie’s voice next to me anymore. The beach lights bled together, turning into long streaks of color across the dark night.

Then I found myself in a room, kissing someone.
