Evolution: From Little Devil to Devil Empress

Chapter 558: Replacement & Hidden Will

Influencing the Human Emperor through faith alone might not have been possible, and the same was true of influencing him through the bloodline traces that had accumulated within his body.

However, that was only if each method was used on its own.

When both of them were applied at the same time, stacked on top of each other, and the Human Emperor had yet to recover from the former, the result was entirely different.

The moment the Throne appeared and Liora exerted her influence over her own bloodline, the Human Emperor’s struggle quickly ceased.

The intelligence in his eyes was wiped away, and his resistance to her corruption through faith came to an abrupt end as well.

It only took a few moments.

Within that short span of time, the Human Emperor’s projection changed drastically.

His appearance was now completely different. He was no longer a handsome young man but had turned into a beautiful woman with a devilish nature.

Standing across from Liora, the two looked like exact reflections of each other.

The world fell silent for a split second.

But the next moment, an agonizing scream shattered this awkward silence.

The Elder, who had been working together with the Human Emperor to resist Liora’s influence, suffered backlash the instant the corruption was completed.

Blood burst from every single one of her orifices, while her face lost all of its color, turning as white as a piece of paper.

Her already aged skin became even more wrinkled.

From looking like a woman in her late seventies, she now appeared to be over a hundred years old.

In simple terms, she looked as though she were on the verge of death. No one would be surprised if she collapsed the very next moment.

Yet the pain she suffered and the state she was in were not what truly shocked the Elder.

Instead, it was the discovery she had just made regarding the Human Emperor.

Unknowingly, she had lost control over his projection. She could no longer command it to move or fight, as though the connection between them had been severed.

More importantly, the Elder discovered that she could no longer take back the projection.

No matter how much she tried to deactivate Historical Projection, the result remained the same: the Human Emperor stood there motionless, as if the two had nothing to do with each other.

This, combined with the drastic changes in his appearance, instantly made the Elder understand what was happening.

Seeing her deity being corrupted by the “bloodthirsty” Otherworld Demon, fury surged through her. Her eyes turned bloodshot.

Coupled with the rest of her state, she truly looked like an evil spirit that was seeking revenge.

But just like before, the Elder managed to retain her composure in the end.

She knew that the Human Temple had been defeated!

Faced with the Otherworld Demon, not only had they failed to kill her, but they had even lost everything.

The Elders, the Human Shrine, and now even the Human Emperor himself…

The Human Temple had failed on every front. The only thing remaining was herself.

Any ordinary person would have suffered a mental breakdown upon reaching such a realization.

But the Elder did not.

She did not say a single word to Liora, nor did she look at the changing Human Emperor even once.

A trace of ruthlessness flashed through her eyes, and golden flames began to surround her left hand, burning it from within.

As the flesh and bone were reduced to ashes, some of the strength she had consumed returned to her.

Even so, she did not choose to fight.

Urging her remaining strength to its limit, she turned into a streak of golden light and attempted to escape.

She knew that only by surviving and leaving this place alive would she one day have a chance to take revenge for everything that had happened.

Only then would she be able to lead the human race to seek a chance of survival.

The Elder appeared to be fortunate.

The transformation of the Human Emperor seemed to require Liora’s full attention. Even as the other party disappeared into the horizon, Liora made no move to stop her.

She continued using her Throne and the Human Emperor Star within the Cosmic Sea, gradually gaining more and more control over the Human Emperor projection.

She did not know how long the process lasted.

All she knew was that just as she was beginning to feel mentally and physically exhausted, the transformation was finally completed.

The Human Emperor projection opened its eyes once more, and vitality and intelligence returned to them.

Yet this time, it was not the Human Emperor’s consciousness controlling that body.

It was Liora’s.

As she sensed that she could manipulate the other party as easily as her Blood Clone and felt the unfathomable power lurking within the projection, even someone like Liora found it difficult to maintain her composure.

After all, this was a being with Rank 11 combat prowess!

In the Demon World, he would have been an Ancient Devil, someone capable of commanding one of the higher Demon Layers and extending his influence throughout the Origin Sea.

Although Liora, after the creation of the Cosmic Sea, might already be able to contend against such existences, being able to fight someone and truly possessing the same level of combat prowess were two entirely different matters.

“Moreover, the Human Emperor projection is not an ordinary Rank 11 Awakener.”

“Its offensive power was already terrifying before. Combined with the Human Emperor Sword, its actual combat power is simply unimaginable.”, Liora concluded.

However, the moment that thought surfaced, the joy in her eyes faded.

She didn’t celebrate.

Her gaze wandered before settling upon the Human Emperor Sword.

Then she opened her mouth to speak:

“Aren’t you going to show yourself? For how long do you intend to keep pretending to be an ordinary weapon spirit?”, her cold voice rang out.

Her question received no answer at first.

Yet after her eyes remained locked onto the sword for several seconds, a sigh suddenly echoed out.

The will within the Human Emperor Sword stopped hiding itself. It transformed into a figure and hovered above the blade.

As soon as he materialized, the handsome young man raised his head and looked at Liora with a complicated expression.
