Evolution: From Little Devil to Devil Empress

Chapter 94: Knights [3] - Alpha’s Revival

Hearing her request—which confirmed her earlier suspicions—Liora didn’t rush to reply.

In fact, although she had been in this world for only a short period of time, her superb senses and the books she read had already given her a rough understanding of both Eleanor and the Black Tulip family she belonged to.

Just as Eleanor said, her father was the head of one of the few Earl families of the Iron Throne Kingdom, with his fiefdom located in the northern part of the continent.

Originally, with two True Knights—the Earl and Uncle Roger—the situation of the Black Tulip family was not only stable, but also prosperous.

However, with the death of the former and the current state of the latter, the family’s situation had turned absolutely dire.

The last heir of the family—Eleanor’s younger brother—had just now turned eighteen and, without the support of a True Knight, it would be almost impossible for him to suppress the opposition voices within the family, much less take control of it.

Especially considering the fact that the Black Tulip family had been targeted by the Holy Church, the siblings’ situation seemed truly grim.

Thus, it didn’t go beyond Liora’s expectations that Eleanor chose to ask for her assistance.

Although she had witnessed the earlier scenes and must have guessed that something was wrong with her, Liora was perhaps the last person who could save them.

Thinking of this, Liora turned to look at Eleanor.

In fact, upon her arrival to this world, the two had secretly signed a Devil Contract.

Eleanor acquiesced that she would act as a ”coordinate” to help her descend into this world, while Liora had to satisfy one of her requests.

At the time, the request that Eleanor instinctively made was quite simple: to save the Black Tulip family.

With Liora killing the Priest and the holy knight, part of this contract had indeed been completed.

But Liora could sense that Eleanor’s request had not been fully fulfilled.

Thus, she didn’t refuse the offer.

Taking another bite of the apple, she savored its sweetness before finally nodding her head.

”I can stay in your family until everything settles down. However, I’m going to need a few things.”, she said and began listing a long list of materials that Eleanor had never heard about.

Though her eyes flashed with surprise, she could only nod her head continuously, feeling that she should try her best to satisfy the person before her.

--

Facing Liora’s request, Eleanor showed extraordinary abilities.

Only a few hours later, a small array that was shimmering faintly had appeared at the back of the Earl’s mansion.

The runes surrounding the array were completely foreign to this world, and no Knight—no matter how strong—would be able to decipher them.

Liora stood silently beside the array, holding an intact corpse in one hand and a lifeless head in the other.

Approaching the array’s center, she casually tossed the corpse to the ground before pouring her demonic energy into it.

Instantly, the body of the True Knight crumbled into weightless ashes and fell onto the array.

Liora didn’t miss this opportunity. Using her connection with the array, she instantly activated it, guiding the energy of the Knight and transforming it into fuel.

Suddenly, the sounds of gears turning echoed throughout the back of the mansion.

A white light flashed at the center of the array as the illusory energy began to merge, slowly materializing into real things with actual form.

A smooth neck, a pair of shoulders, a torso, arms, legs...

In the blink of an eye, an entire human body had been constructed right before Liora’s eyes.

The moment the light retreated, and the process was finally finished, she took a step forward and gently placed Alpha’s head on top of the smooth neck.

With a click, the lifeless head fell into place and attached seamlessly to the newly created body.

Alpha’s eyelids trembled violently as if she had forgotten how to see, and a brief moment later, they opened.

A trace of confusion flashed across her face, but it quickly vanished as she turned her head and inspected her surroundings with caution.

”Lord!”

The moment her eyes landed on Liora’s figure, Alpha saluted. However, she didn’t stop paying attention to the world around her.

Feeling the unfamiliar atmosphere and seeing an environment she had never encountered before, Alpha’s cold eyes flashed with a trace of strangeness.

The last thing she remembered was Liora taking them to leave the Crucible. She had no further memories and thus could not understand why they were here.

Facing Alpha’s inquiries, Liora didn’t explain.

Instead, she calmly stretched her hand and placed it on Alpha’s forehead before closing her eyes.

Immediately, a brief summary of what had happened was transmitted through her arm to Alpha’s mind, allowing her to understand what had occurred.

As Alpha digested those memories, her confusion disappeared.

”I see...”

”I didn’t expect that we would encounter such an accident while traveling to the Demon World. Scurry and the Owl Devil are really unlucky to have been separated from us. I hope that everything is fine.”, she said, her voice a mix of concern and worry.

Yet, if anyone were to take a deeper look into her amber eyes, they would discover that a trace of excitement flashed across them, as if she were happy to have gotten rid of her fellow subordinates.

Though this happiness was fleeting, how could it possibly escape Liora’s eyes?

However, she didn’t even point it out, much less scold Alpha. Instead, she asked:

”How much of your strength can you use? Can you still fight?”, she observed Alpha’s state and questioned.

Alpha closed her eyes.

She scanned her entire body and conducted a thorough investigation before finally responding:

”I can feel that I can only exert about eighty percent of my strength. Still, my current combat power should be more than enough to deal with most Devils at the Young Devil stage.”

Her words made Liora a little surprised, as such an amount of suppression was far less than what she was facing.

However, upon further thought, she had a faint guess about why that was.

”It should be because Alpha is a mechanical creation rather than a Devil. Although she still faces the suppression of the world as an ’invader’, the world’s disgust towards her existence is far weaker than mine.”, she analyzed.

But for Liora, the fact that Alpha could exert most of her strength was something to be happy about.

With her own strength and such a powerful subordinate on her side, her safety was more or less guaranteed.

After giving Alpha a few more minutes to recover from her sudden awakening, Liora patted her on the shoulder and instructed:

”I have something very important I wish to do. Make sure that no one gets near this place.”, she said, and added:

”If anyone steps near this place, you don’t need to show any mercy.”

Receiving Alpha’s nod and watching her step back and observe the surroundings, Liora felt that it was the right decision to have woken her up.

Shaking her head, she lowered herself and sat on the ground, while the information regarding the Knight Technique she had previously memorized resurfaced in her mind.

”Nightreaver...”, she whispered.
