Eternal Thief

Chapter 1382: The God Runes! (2)

Ace and others were shocked when they witnessed the Flag and Swordʼs excessive reactions and heard grave warnings. It was completely out of their expectations.

Zaria was the most startled of them all because it was her first time hearing about the God Runes. Then she saw the two treasures, which were out of her wildest expectation because they were true spirit treasures with weapon spirits as intelligent as her or even more so.

Because of her background, Zaria knew this kind of spirit treasure only existed in legends. Yet now, she had seen two of them under the control of Thief House members. But she remained silent and observed since she was also curious about the ʼGod Runesʼ and the reaction of those astounding spirit treasures.

Ace glanced over the Heavenly Devil Soul Flag. Eva had told him about this damaged treasure she found in the Mortal Sky Heart Empire, and it was most likely on the same level as the Calamity Star Sword. But it was his first time seeing it.

Nonetheless, since Star revealed itself and explained the reason for Flaggyʼs actions, Ace no longer suppressed the Flag. But his curiosity was aroused as he looked at the stele in his hand with the so-called ʼGod Runeʼ.

When he thought about what Star had just said, he couldnʼt help but think about the Ancient Remnant and those words he had found in the secret passage.

ʼCould it be really true? Furthermore, that prophecy in the House White was also in the Language of Ancient Gods…ʼ

Calming his nerves, Ace questioned, ”Explain yourselves! If what youʼre saying is true, then why would Eva and Alina be attracted to the God Rune, and Eva even unseal memories after touching it? Doesnʼt this mean the Void Abyssal Devil Race also researched the God Runes at some point? And if Iʼm not wrong, if Alina touched it, she might awaken memories like Eva, right?”

Eva and Alina also looked at their treasures with suspicion. Although they had powerful bloodlines, they werenʼt born with them, and the mysteries behind them were still countless; they were too weak to unravel them. The God Rune really attracted them in a strange way.

”Itʼs true, if Alina touched the God Rune, she would also unseal introduction memoirs about the God Runes,” Star confirmed Aceʼs suspicion.

Alina questioned with narrowed eyes, ”Whatʼs going on, Star?”

”The God Runes are undoubtedly filled with secrets and arcane knowledge. In fact, all the ancient clans researched them because God Runes can increase not only cognitive abilities and comprehension of laws, but they also hold the wisdom of the universe.

”However, because of this exact reason, they are extremely dangerous for that wisdom is sacred, and the more someone researches them, the more theyʼll fall into a bewitched state and madness, especially mortals. Most terrible of all, whoever had researched the God Runes has always met with one ending, ʼDeath!ʼ

”I canʼt tell you more, but itʼll be wise to stay away from the God Runes at your current cultivation realms, or youʼll bring yourselves terrible misfortune. Even if you found more God Runes, just destroy them, for even keeping them can bring disasters! If you didnʼt believe me, then ask the Old thing over there!” Star stated gravely.

The ʼOld thingʼ or Flaggy also affirmed, ”The ʼold stickʼ is right. For the same reason, I canʼt tell you more than the old stick already had. But for now, staying away from the God Runes will be best for everyone!”

Silence reigned in the Thiefʼs Space, as these revelations were too shocking for everyone. Those three women couldnʼt help but glance at the stele in Aceʼs hand with a hint of apprehension.

Ace was also shocked as he wasnʼt expecting the Language of Ancient God to be so ʼinfamousʼ. If not for Flaggy and Starʼs origin, Ace wouldʼve scoffed at them, but he couldnʼt because of the proofs.

”Fufu~, they are correct, you know. Unless you are an ʼImmortal, ʼthe God Runes will only bring you misfortune. However, you are a Heavenʼs Stealer, so whatever you choose, I wonʼt interfere with it anymore.” Malservusʼs voice also rang, but she sounded more casual and left the decision to Ace.

Aceʼs eyes flickered with confusion as he looked at the ʼGod Runeʼ because, unlike everyone else, he could clearly understand what it was. He wanted to tell them that he could not only understand God Runes but could even write them correctly and speak.

But at this moment, the systemʼs voice sounded and gave him an unexpected hint.

”[The misfortune only exists for those who donʼt completely understand the Language of Ancient Gods. However, revealing this fact would bring even more misfortune, not for the host, but for those who are privy to this information!]

”[Furthermore, anything related to the Language of the Ancient God will be completely forgotten by others once they lose the ʼWord(s)ʼ in their possession. Only those with a complete understanding of the Language of the Ancient God are exceptional to this phenomenon.]

”[Therefor, even if Host unseal the knowledge sealed in this stele, no one will be able to tell or spot it unless they are like Host!]”

Ace was startled by the systemʼs words, and his eyes shimmered with realization as he looked at everyone. The system had no doubt given him a crucial clue, which also contained a warning not to tell others about his talent for ʼlanguageʼ.

Furthermore, the system also hinted that the stele contained some knowledge that was actually sealed by the character ʼSealʼ in the Language of Ancient Gods. Thatʼs what the glyph means, ʼSealʼ on this stele.

Even Malservus didnʼt know about this, so Ace decided to keep to himself, just like the system suggested. Heʼll unravel the secrets about the Language of Ancient Gods in the future, just as heʼs gotten the information about the ʼGod Runesʼ just now.

Moreover, he canʼt let others come in contact with the Language of Ancient Gods, especially Eva and Alina, because of their bloodlines.

Ace finally stated, ”Alright, we should heed Star and Flaggyʼs warning, and you guys should stay away from God Runes in the future. Iʼll tell the other house members and others about it as well.

”However, if you do find them, give them to me because as long as I keep them in this space, they can be contained here without bringing misfortune to us. But we still canʼt study them until we are strong enough.”

Ace quickly made an excuse with a believable variable, which startled the others, but they didnʼt find any fault with this since, in their minds, the Thief House was as mysterious as God Runes.

He looked at everyone and sternly asked, ”Is that understood?”

Ace then suddenly glanced over the two ʼlistlessʼ women, ”Besides, our ʼguestsʼ have woken up!”
