Eternal Tale

Corn often hid in the corner, crying, with only his grandparents tirelessly comforting him, offering the warmest care in the world, and teaching him how to weave bamboo baskets and other things...

Every year-end, they would go to the market together to sell goods. Although Corn was young, he was very strong and never let his grandparents get tired.

But as the years passed, the corn stalks grew taller and taller, while they grew shorter and shorter, until he could no longer see their figures.

Corn had no great ambitions and knew nothing of the vastness of the world; he only wanted to stay with his grandparents and guard this insignificant cornfield.

Later, he learned that his grandparents actually had children, who, at the end of the year, took away their savings and scolded them...

Corn trembled, hiding outside the house, not daring to speak, but when he saw the shovel standing nearby, he finally couldn’t hold back!

He picked up the shovel and single-handedly beat them until they were covered in wounds, crying out in pain.

Even as they fled, they kept cursing him as a bastard, a monster, saying he and the two old people would die a miserable death.

Corn trembled all over, his hands stained with blood, his eyes vacant, but his grandparents did not blame him and comforted him for a long time.

A few days later, his grandparents took out some copper coins from a dirt-stained embroidered handkerchief. With clear and simple smiles on their faces, they discussed sending little Corn to town to learn martial arts...

Corn remained silent, just looking at his grandparents’ aged hands, like the bark of the withered trees beside the cornfield... full of the vicissitudes of decay.

A tightness gripped his heart, an inexplicable sadness, and later he realized it was because he had grown up.

Corn was now silent and reticent, nodding gently, as he grew taller and his grandparents grew shorter, so short that they had to look up to see him...

Six months later, he joined a martial arts school, using his grandparents’ only savings to become an apprentice.

However... the good times didn’t last, his innate strength was not valued, and instead, the schoolmaster sold him to the legendary immortals...

He was unwilling to leave his hometown, and the immortal, in anger, revealed his true nature, coveting Corn’s blood and divine soul!

Corn fled in shock, but how could he be a match for an immortal? He was imprisoned on a desolate mountain.

Months later, a giant monstrous bird swept through the town, devouring all living beings in one gulp, and the immortal never returned, seemingly perishing in the chaos.

Corn escaped and ran toward the direction he remembered, that cornfield... his grandparents were still there, they had to be!

Tears streamed down his face as he looked at the lifeless ruins of the small town, his steps never faltering.

But the small village was gone... the cornfield was gone, and his grandparents were gone too.

Corn wandered like a lost soul, frantically searching, but he couldn’t find a trace.

Years later, he picked up a handful of yellow earth and left alone, still silent and reticent, his face like an icy mountain.

Corn walked through this dangerous land with his backpack, drinking mountain spring water when thirsty, eating dirt and bark when hungry, just as his grandparents had told him they did.

By now, his body had grown far beyond human size, his strength even greater, reaching the point where he could tear demonic beasts apart with his bare hands.

Corn finally understood what kind of world this was... a world where myriad clans stood, where the weak were prey to the strong, chaotic and without order.

Every living being survived as if walking on thin ice, ferocious beasts devoured millions of lives at a whim, immortal powerhouses wiped out entire sects with a wave, mountains and rivers overturned, countless mortals suffered.

And he was in a region called the Great Desolate...

From this moment, Corn’s path to rise began, he learned from demonic beasts, allied with spirit beasts, took it upon himself to eliminate the ferocious beasts of the Great Desolate, hoping to quell the chaos with his own strength.

But such a powerful cultivator eventually caught the attention of a major force.

Corn was not good with words, sparing with them, only having endless things to say with his grandparents.

He never admitted defeat, beaten by immortal prodigies until he couldn’t tell east from west, always teetering on the edge of life and death...

The entire region’s living beings seemed filled with malice towards him, Corn felt bitter, a weight pressing on his heart, unable to breathe.

He often roared silently on mountain peaks, but never uttered a word.

He began to eat the raw flesh of ferocious beasts, his temperament turning from silent to increasingly fierce, with the ferocity of a beast.

A thousand years later.

His body had reached hundreds of feet, like a walking giant mountain, so tall he couldn’t see the ground, couldn’t see the cornfield, couldn’t see his grandparents’ hunched figures...

Corn’s temperament was fierce, even though myriad clans bore malice towards him, he still took it upon himself to slay ferocious beasts.

From them, he learned some immortal techniques, learning whatever he could, just as his grandparents taught him.

Some forces wanted to recruit him, but Corn paid no heed, he was not an orphan, didn’t need to live in someone else’s place, he roamed the Great Desolate, just as his grandparents wanted him to go out and see the world.

Thousands more years passed, Corn became a powerful figure suppressing one side, but encountered a formidable enemy, beaten until his bones shattered, and at the moment of his demise, someone saved him...

This person was named Gu, who said he had been watching Corn for a long time.

He asked if Corn felt injustice in his heart, now that the world’s immortal order was in chaos, why not join him in doing something great!

Corn, bloodied, showed no sign of pain, silently nodded, he wanted to slay ferocious beasts.

Hundreds of years passed, Corn met more and more powerful figures, from all the myriad clans, possessing talents of great magnitude, yet he remained out of place... like a firefly before the bright moon.

Corn only understood that what they were doing was right, he was willing to charge into battle for them, to be an unnamed soldier.

He followed these powerhouses out of the Great Desolate, fought across various heavenly domains, defeated strong foes, slew countless ferocious beasts, his strength so formidable it made everyone tremble, wondering where this fierce figure came from!

But Corn remained unique, even others thought he was mute and an orphan, with no parents, no family, no clan...

Ten thousand years later.

Corn stood alone guarding the Great World of Taiyi, at Xian’e Town Tian Pass!

He slaughtered the evil spirits from beyond the boundary, making them so terrified they dared not pass by or mention him, much less invade the Great World of Taiyi.

From this generation, the evil spirits from beyond the boundary never rose again, their vitality for an entire immortal era severed by him!

Corn remained silent and reticent, turning his back on all beings, sitting alone at Xian’e Town Tian Pass.

Corn quelled the turmoil from beyond the boundary, protecting the myriad clans of the Great World of Taiyi, his massive body covered in scars that could never be erased, yet he never uttered a word of exhaustion or pain.

The wind rose beyond the boundary, Corn’s eternally silent expression finally showed a trace of a warm smile.

The cold, biting wind beyond the boundary blew gently today.

It was as if he had returned to the past, sitting foolishly on the ridge, guarding that insignificant cornfield, at peace and serene.

The pure and kind nature of his grandparents, after ten thousand years, finally struck Corn’s brow.

He held up the sky of the Great World of Taiyi, guarding the billions of miles of cornfields within its borders, asking for nothing more, just that...
