Endless Winter: My Camp Upgrades Infinitely

Chapter 1027: Chapter 367: Evasion and Surprise Attack, Jiangxia’s Complete Victory, Secret Message, Counterattack_5

Naturally, Nine Towns also lost a few men, but looking at the ground, it was estimated to be less than two hundred, negligible compared to the casualties of Dajue Temple.

In this confrontation, it was clear that Nine Towns was victorious.

After a long pause, Yan Xin finally calmed down, looked down at the corpses on the ground, surveyed the remaining troops, and ordered deeply, ”Quickly gather the bodies, reorganize the troops and continue to advance on Hongguan. It’s only half an hour until dawn. Let’s occupy Hongguan first, I want to see if they dare to attack in broad daylight!”

”Yes!”

.........

”If Dajue Temple wants to occupy Hongguan, let them have it. Return to the Hongguan Camp; we won’t retreat, just keep a watch in the camp to prevent them from causing trouble in Hongguan!”

This great victory was extraordinarily invigorating. On the return journey, Jiang Yuanlong and the others from Jiangxia were very excited. Once they were out of Hongguan, Jiang Yuanlong immediately ordered everyone not to withdraw but to remain at the Hongguan Camp.

Hongguan is a crossing, and Hongguan Camp is a military camp, located just a kilometer east of the crossing, to the west of Hongguan Village. Though close, they are not the same place.

Normally, it would be impossible to garrison troops so close to the enemy.

But everyone present was at the Cold Resistance Level, and even if there was an unexpected situation, they could retreat in time. Besides, the recent battle in the Snow Forest had already shown that Dajue Temple, although seemingly large in numbers, was not intimidating in real combat unless they were completely surrounded by the enemy, Dajue Temple could do nothing to them.

So at that moment when Jiang Yuanlong spoke up, almost no one objected.

”Hahaha, I killed at least twenty Grey-clothed Bhikkhus myself.”

”I slaughtered over a dozen as well, very satisfying, very satisfying!”

”I killed fewer Bhikkhus, but more than a hundred Earth-digging Realm.”

”I killed over a hundred myself.”

”Hahaha, just a mob, we’re completely unafraid of night battles.”

.........

Upon returning to the Hongguan Camp, the emotions of Jiangxia’s people remained high, boasting about their battlefield accomplishments.

Jiang Yuanlong also wore a smile, turned his head to look at the men from Seven Towns, and said with a smile, ”Thanks to your assistance in guarding the rear just now, otherwise, being surrounded by Dajue Temple would have been a disaster.”

Huang Tianxing and the commanders of Six Towns stiffened slightly at these words. Jiang Yuanlong’s words clearly implied they were slacking off and just watching the retreat route, and they could not ignore the sarcasm.

Evidently, Jiang Yuanlong had taken advantage of the Seven Towns’ unwillingness to fight to the death and deliberately orchestrated the surprise attack. While the surprise attack was victorious, they now realized they were being used and naturally felt uncomfortable.

Xiang Tiancheng was the most displeased at the moment and said with a forced smile, ”Deputy Army Chief Jiang’s strategy is impressive, I admire it, but Hongguan was lost in the end!”

”Hmph! We have already inflicted more than ten thousand enemy casualties in this battle, severely injuring and killing many Zen Temple Bhikkhus from Dajue Temple. There are only seventy thousand Earth-digging Realm remaining. Briefly conceding Hongguan to them is negligible. Jiang Yuanhua, Xiahou Qin.”

”Present.”

”Present.”

Jiang Yuanlong, feeling disgusted by Xiang Tiancheng, snorted coldly at him and then called out to two subordinates in the crowd, ordering, ”Now go inform Zhou Shiyan to lead the men back to the camp immediately after nightfall. Tonight, not only will we retake Hongguan, but also recover the two villages of Jinbi Dragon River!”

”Understood!”

The two subordinates responded in unison and then turned and dashed towards the east.

Jiang Yuanlong then turned to look at the men from Seven Towns, continuing, ”It’s almost dawn, and there are only two hours of daylight. It is estimated that the enemy can reach Hongguan within an hour. Each of our eight towns will dispatch fifty men specifically to watch over Hongguan, just in case Dajue Temple attacks during the day. Any objections?”

The plan for the nighttime counterattack on Hongguan was already set. Naturally, the men from Seven Towns had no objections and nodded in agreement.

Dongling was quite lucky not to be chosen by Gu Tianxiong to be the lookout, so as soon as the crowd dispersed, Lu Yang led thirty-one men back to their barracks.

”This great victory is indeed invigorating!”

”We’ve been dormant for nearly forty days; those guys from Jiangxia are really fierce.”

”The key is the difference in war armors. Qinghepu is, after all, just a village-level camp, and Dajue Temple is not skilled in crafting, meeting the Thousand Forged Armor is simply no match.”

”Exactly, Dajue Temple’s Thousand Forged Armor is pathetically sparse.”

”After nightfall, in the counterattack, with one hundred and eighty thousand Earth-digging Realm and two thousand Zhenyu soldiers, plus our three thousand-plus men, Jiangxia should have no trouble regaining Hongguan.”

”It won’t be regained!”

In the barracks, after Lu Yang’s last remark, the discussions among Great Xia’s men stopped abruptly.

Everyone looked up at Lu Yang, full of confusion.

Lu Yang didn’t say anything, just handed the note in his hand to the next person, Wang Tao.

Wang Tao opened the note and, seeing the words on it, his pupils contracted sharply.

[Feign Defeat—Xiang Liang]

There were only four characters on the note, or more precisely, two characters.

The characters Xiang Liang at the bottom were the signature.

”Xiang Liang... the spy with Bai Shanqiu who was lurking in Lower River Village?”

Wang Tao handed the paper to Zhu Shun, immediately recalling who Xiang Liang was.

Dongling and Xia City shared intelligence, and Lu Yang liked to discuss matters with Wang Tao and the others, so he knew about the two spies in Lower River Village.

Lu Yang nodded and said in a deep voice, ”Yes, it’s him. This Xiang Liang joined from north of Wuyuan Mountain in the second year of Great Xia. He met me before, and he must have recognized me on the battlefield just now and hastily sent me the message.”

If the person checks out, then there’s little issue with the information.

”Feign Defeat?”

Reading the words on the note, Wang Tao furrowed his brows tightly, with a look of disbelief continuing, ”Even if Dajue Temple deliberately lost to Jiangxia, sacrificing nearly ten thousand isn’t necessary, right?”
