Endless Winter: My Camp Upgrades Infinitely

Chapter 828: Chapter 324: Early Drills, Surge in Cold Resistance Level Members

After Xia Chuan’s two-month-long transformation, the outer city has been divided into four distinct districts: southeast, southwest, northeast, and northwest.

The outer city of Great Xia is enclosed by three walls and the Double Dragon Mountain Wall, stretching four kilometers from north to south and three kilometers from east to west, making a total of twelve square kilometers.

Xia Chuan designed the four districts to be extremely compact, pushing them as close to the edge of the walls as possible, leaving a large central area, clearly intended for future population growth.

At the very center of Xia City, there sits a square wooden canopy with sides approximately 500 meters in length.

The wooden canopy has five levels, each of the same size, apart from the top floor which has several windows for ventilation, the rest are almost entirely enclosed; hardly any light gets through inside, making it impossible to see anything within the wooden house from the outside.

However, a gigantic wooden plaque hangs on the top floor of the canopy.

On the plaque, the word ”Military Camp” is written in golden powder.

Though the military camp is about two or three hundred meters away from the outer city streets, people’s curiosity is undeterred; especially some older children often gather around, gazing at the camp, faces full of envy and aspirations.

”Did the Dragon Martial Army just call an assembly?”

”Yes! Didn’t you see the light from the second floor?”

”Second floor, what does that mean?”

”The camp is designed with five levels. Apparently, it’s the idea of the Lord; he said that our camp’s short-term goal is to build five armies, and these five levels are specifically for those armies. Currently, only two levels are activated.”

”The first level is the Cloud Dragon Army’s, and the second is the Dragon Martial Army’s?”

”Exactly, the construction specs of this camp are no joke. I heard the ground stakes went down over twenty meters. The floor spacers and joints are made of pure iron; even if tens of thousands squeezed in, it wouldn’t collapse.”

”That’s for sure; after all, it’s a key military ground, and the soldiers of the two armies have cultivation at the Earth-digging Realm Limit as the minimum. If it’s not sturdy, they might trample it flat with a few steps, wouldn’t that be embarrassing?”

”Is the Dragon Martial Army training? How about we sneak over and take a look?”

”Are you crazy? The camp is now forbidden ground, strictly off-limits to anyone except soldiers. Violation means punishment, either by flogging or hard labor. If you want to die, go ahead, but I’m not joining in your madness.”

”Hehe, I’m just joking. How could I forget the rules set by the Minister last month? Even if I were to enter, I would do it properly with the identity of an army soldier.”

”Stop dreaming; once you break through the Earth-digging Realm Limit, we won’t just have five armies; Great Xia might have more than a dozen armies by then. You won’t get a chance.”

”Don’t underestimate me, just wait and see.”

”Alright, alright, I’ll be waiting to see.”

.........

Military Camp, Second Floor Plaza

The square plaza, more than two hundred meters wide, can easily accommodate thousands, let alone tens of thousands; a thousand Dragon Martial Army soldiers now stand densely packed at its center, eyes fixed straight ahead.

The Dragon Martial Army soldiers wear hundred-forged iron armor, not in light gold but pure black, indicating it’s from Long Mountain.

Not only their armor, but their weaponry is different from the Cloud Dragon Army’s as well.

The front row of a hundred soldiers carries different weapons, evidently an elite scout camp similar to the Cloud Dragon Army; the nine hundred-man formations behind have three wielding horizontal blades, and the remaining six all holding spears over ten feet long.

At the forefront, Yuwen Dao, cloaked in almost pure golden war armor, walks in slowly, he glances over the formations and loudly asks:

”Is everyone here?”

At the very front line, Colonel Zhou Yuan of the Scout Camp steps forward and bows:

”Reporting to the Commander, all ten camps totaling a thousand men are present!”

Yuwen Dao nods, continues to walk to the front of the army, looking at the ten camp colonels including Zhou Yuan, an elite spark flashes in his eyes.

”My Dragon Martial Army was established late, but the starting point is much higher than the Minister’s Cloud Dragon Army; initially we have Zhou Yuan, Hou Quan, Yuwen Yong, Zhu Yang, four at the Cold Resistance Level. If this advantage is properly utilized, surpassing the Cloud Dragon Army in combat strength is not impossible!”

Just as many in Xia City had speculated, Yuwen Dao indeed has always harbored the desire to compete with Xia Chuan, especially after losing by a narrow margin to him in June’s Martial Arts Competition.

The strength of Xia Hong is on a completely different level, and Yuwen Dao admits to having neither the mindset nor the courage to compete with him, not even much desire to catch up.

But Xia Chuan is different!

He’s similar in age to Yuwen Dao, with comparable cultivation, similar battle body talent, and Yuwen Dao had always been confident that in terms of combat talent, Xia Chuan was not up to par with him.

However, in June’s Martial Arts Competition, he was genuinely defeated by Xia Chuan.

For Yuwen Dao, that defeat was not merely losing the qualification to establish an army, so he harbors a persistent resentment.

The next Martial Arts Competition will be next year, so he must surpass Xia Chuan in other ways before then; the establishment of the Dragon Martial Army is just the opportunity.

Ten days ago upon returning to Xia City, he immediately sought out Zhou Yuan and Hou Quan, putting in effort and eloquence, finally persuading them to join the Dragon Martial Army.

Including Yuwen Yong and Zhu Yang, whom he brought from the Dragon Wu Team, the fledgling Dragon Martial Army already boasts four at the Cold Resistance Level, and Zhou Yuan and Hou Quan are reputedly stronger than Nine-mane.

Before early December, he spent all his time in the Beehive, so he is well aware of the Cloud Dragon Army’s condition; as of now, the Cloud Dragon Army, including Liu Yuan, only has five at the Cold Resistance Level.
