Endless Winter: My Camp Upgrades Infinitely

Chapter 768: Chapter 307: Silver Mine News, Uprisings Everywhere (Part 3)

Wu Tianxing hastily cupped his hands and replied, ”This time it’s in the South District, with a total of over seven hundred people involved. The main culprit is surnamed Song, called Song Ning, a nephew of Song Kang, one of the Longshan Eight Great Vajra.”

”Were they killed?”

”He, along with thirty-seven other main culprits involved in the riot, were all killed, but I don’t think it does any good. There will surely be more riots afterward.”

Upon hearing this, Xia Hong’s face immediately darkened.

The dungeon is only so big, Long Mountain has a population of 130,000. During the siege in the first half of the night, not everyone resisted, so Xia Hong naturally couldn’t imprison everyone. At the moment, besides the Earth-digging Realm of Long Mountain and all the Li Family members, there were at least seventy to eighty thousand people left in the camp.

Among these people, quite a few are loyal supporters of the Li Family. Worried they might cause trouble, Xia Hong had Wu Tianxing lead over three thousand Earth-digging Realm soldiers to patrol various areas of the camp.

However, he clearly underestimated the number of Li Family loyalists. Just over an hour had passed, and there had already been eight riots in the camp, with the scale of each riot involving hundreds or even thousands of people.

This was already the ninth time Wu Tianxing had come to report the riot situation to him.

Don’t underestimate these riots. Even if in the Logging Realm, they possess a basic strength of over five thousand pounds. If the scale of the riots expands to ten thousand or even tens of thousands, it will be very hard to control. It may very well reignite conflict, leading to massive casualties again.

The people causing the riots obviously aren’t afraid to die. Killing them doesn’t seem to deter at all.

Moreover, conquering Long Mountain was for the population. Killing too many not only misses the point but is also detrimental to Great Xia’s future governance.

Hou Jing is still leading men to search for hidden rebels in the camp; Chen Yingba and his two thousand people are repairing the gap in the northern city wall; with only three hundred Cloud Jiao Army and three thousand Earth-digging Realm soldiers, controlling tens of thousands is evidently a bit challenging.

Xia Hong stood in place contemplating for a long time, a cold gleam flashed in his eyes, just about to speak when Liu Yuan hurriedly ran in.

”Leader, there’s a major riot in the North District. Someone called Cheng Yu is gathering a large group heading west, seemingly aiming for the dungeon, with more and more people joining along the way. It has reached over six thousand now.”

Over six thousand people revolting!

Without a second thought, Xia Hong immediately led the charge outside.

Liu Yuan quickly followed at his side, with Peng Bo and others in close pursuit.

”I was patrolling the city wall and informed Hou Jing as soon as I noticed the situation. He dispatched four thousand men, led by Dong Zhong, to suppress it. Unfortunately, they were a bit slow. By the time they arrived, the crowd had already grown to over six thousand. Even the Cloud Jiao Army couldn’t hold them back, so I had no choice but to seek the leader’s decision!”

Before Liu Yuan finished speaking, Xia Hong, accompanied by the group, had already reached above a tall building near the entrance of the dungeon in the North District.

”Brothers, Great Xia is deceiving us. Heavenly Ancestor and others have surrendered their weapons, but they still slaughter at will in the camp. If nothing is done, they’ll soon be upon us.”

”We can’t let them have their way in Long Mountain. It’s just one life; let’s fight them. I don’t believe Great Xia can kill us all.”

”If Heavenly Ancestor isn’t released to uphold justice, we’ll fight Great Xia to the end!”

”Break into the dungeon and release the Ancestor and others. That’s our only way to survive.”

.........

Just now Liu Yuan said there were only six thousand people, but clearly, it’s more.

Near the entrance to the western dungeon, at least fifteen thousand people are densely gathered, most of them fit and strong youths, fervently clashing against the wall of six hundred Cloud Jiao Army and over four thousand Earth-digging Realm soldiers.

With the sporadic incitement and heckling, the crowd charged more frequently and violently. It seemed a clash with the over four thousand guards outside the dungeon entrance was imminent.

”All of you stop right there. If you don’t, I’ll order the army to start killing!”

Dong Zhong’s voice was loud, but how could it compare to over ten thousand people?

”Go on then; if you dare, kill us all!”

”Long Mountain is our home. We won’t let Xia dogs take it.”

”Heavenly Ancestor and the others have surrendered, so why are they still imprisoned? Why is Great Xia killing at will in our camp? Release Heavenly Ancestor.”

”Release Heavenly Ancestor!”

”Release Heavenly Ancestor!”

.........

Instead of quelling the angry crowd, Dong Zhong’s words only escalated tensions, making the fifteen thousand people even more frenzied.

”Leader, if this doesn’t work, let’s have the brothers take action!”

Watching the crowd continue to assault the dungeon, Liu Yuan could hardly restrain himself, eyes filled with fierce determination, directly suggesting to Xia Hong.

Even though there are over fifteen thousand people rioting, almost ninety-nine percent are ordinary people, with less than three hundred in the Earth-digging Realm, and few have weapons. The rest are virtually unarmed.

The six hundred Cloud Jiao Army and over four thousand soldiers guarding the dungeon entrance could easily scatter or even kill them all if they were to fight.

But the problem is, what happens after they’re killed?

Xia Hong directly waved off Liu Yuan’s suggestion. If they directly start killing, the over seven thousand Earth-digging Realm in the dungeon and the remaining tens of thousands in the camp, even if brought under Great Xia’s control, would be a perpetual danger.

Clearly, those who instigated the riot banked on this, knowing Great Xia wouldn’t dare order a massacre.

Xia Hong scanned the rioting crowd, his expression slightly tense, then asked Liu Yuan, ”Do you know who initially stirred up this revolt?”

Liu Yuan immediately shook his head and said, ”It happened too fast; we couldn’t find out.”

Upon hearing this, a shadow flashed across Xia Hong’s eyes. He then leaped, heading directly toward the dungeon entrance.

Boom!

Xia Hong intentionally added more force to his feet. Even from a mere ten meters, the ground within a few hundred meters shook a bit upon his landing.

The crowd assaulting the guards wobbled momentarily. As they finally stabilized, they looked up at Xia Hong in his black attire, falling silent immediately.

”That’s the one who bent the city wall last night!”

”He’s the one who cut off Heavenly Ancestor’s left arm.”

”Isn’t that the Great Xia Leader?”

”Yes, it’s Xia Hong, the most powerful person in Great Xia.”

”Was the ground shaking just now his doing?”

.........

”I don’t know how many of you are leading this, but I can give these people a chance to step out and present your demands in front of everyone. As long as they’re reasonable, I’ll accede.

But dare to charge again, and...”

After Xia Hong suddenly said this, he paused and motioned subtly to Dong Zhong and Liu Yuan behind him with his eyes.

”Prepare!”

”Prepare!”

The two understood, giving a shout to the four thousand Earth-digging Realm and over six hundred Cloud Jiao Army soldiers to prepare.

Shua shua shua......

Upon hearing this, the soldiers all drew their weapons, their gazes towards the over fifteen thousand rioters becoming sharply focused.

At this moment, Xia Hong spoke again, but compared to before, his voice was much lower, carrying clear intent to kill.

”For every charge, I’ll kill one-tenth of you until you’re too afraid to advance. So think carefully about what you want to say or do next.”

As Xia Hong finished speaking, the scene instantly fell into a dead silence.

Everyone looked up at him, not a single person daring to speak.

After several dozen breaths, voices finally emerged from the crowd.

”I’ll go!”

”I’ll go...”

”And I.”

.........

Upon hearing five consecutive voices, Xia Hong’s eyes slightly narrowed. He nodded slowly towards the crowd and smiled, ”Then come over, make way for these five people.”
