Endless Evolution: Last Star

Chapter 614 The Winner - Adam Vinter

In The Rule of Power, any outcome was accepted, even a brutal death, but there was no need for it as simply admitting defeat in the most ordinary battle was more than enough.

”I give up.”

Fromundʼs words spread across the arena like a thunderous blast, eliciting all sorts of reactions.

Someone smiled contentedly, crossing his arms over his chest.

”Hah, thatʼs honorable, thatʼs a fair outcome. If Adam Vinter hadnʼt started fighting against Nirosh Marzo, he wouldʼve finished Fromund. He won the moment Fromund passed out.”

The others were not as talkative, maintaining silence, they wanted to savor the moment since it would be a long time before they could see a similar fight again.

”Excellent... This fight was clearly worth coming in the ninth wing. Indeed, spectacular.”

But... if some agreed with the outcome of the fight, some were not happy with the result.

”Wait, what?! His opponent is lying on the ground unconscious and he admits defeat? Hell no! This is a setup! I want my money back!”

”Yes! Me to! He could have won in just one attack!”

”Damn! He didnʼt even have to kill Adam Vinter! Fromund could have just waited silently for the judgesʼ decision!”

A mixture of delight, calmness, and anger rained down on Fromund from all directions, causing nothing but a bitter smile to appear on his face.

He wasnʼt going to justify himself to anyone or explain his decision, those who understood him didnʼt need his words, and he couldnʼt change the minds of the outraged ones.

The opinion of only three people mattered to him, so Fromund raised his head to meet the gaze of his younger sisters. Find more to read at

Even though Fromund lost, which meant he wouldnʼt get 125 million credits, there was nothing but joy on their faces.

Fromund ran his hand through his hair, meeting their smiles like bright sunlight.

”Right, money can always be earned, canʼt it? I just had to be stronger to win honestly, but I was too weak.”

Step. Step. Step.

Kogen stepped out of the shadows, jumping off the stone edge. In a few leaps as a shadow, he was next to the barrier before he held out his hand.

Blue sparks traveled across the barrier, wanting to maintain the defense, but soon the shaking stopped. After all, the fight was over, the Moon Colosseum just needed time to realize it.

”Good.” Kogen nodded deeply before stepping forward.

In a heartbeat, he found himself standing next to Fromund.

”That was a great fight. You did well, Iʼm sure if you had more suitable abilities you wouldʼve won.”

Tap.

Kogen patted Fromund on the shoulder encouragingly, receiving his heavy sigh with an awkward smile:

”Yeah, I think so... And to think of it, neither of the two meteorites could even hurt him and yet that was my trump card...”

”Hahaha, youʼll have plenty of time to analyze this fight, along with your Operator. Iʼm sure this will be a big step forward for you.”

Then, Kogen leaned lightly into Fromundʼs ear, his voice becoming quieter so that no one but Fromund could hear his whisper:

”Maybe... It will finally give you the confidence to break down your First Wall. I assure you, if you reach K3-Level, youʼll pay off your debt within a couple of years or even months.”

Disbelief filled Fromundʼs eyes, causing them to open wide, he knew that the gap between levels was large, but he had no idea how much.

”Well, Iʼm afraid I have nothing more to say to you.” Kogen smirked slyly, looking at Fromund over his shoulder, ”After all, you lost.”

Fighters who lost in a duel often faced judgment and especially humiliation, such a result was a shame, but Fromund felt only relief.

Step. Step. Step.

Kogen stopped beside Adam, glancing at the Nirosh lying nearby, who was forever frozen touching his heart.

Shrugging nonchalantly, Kogen lifted Adam off the ground, he was unconscious, but that didnʼt stop him from being the winner.

Placing his feet on the ground and holding him by the shoulder, Kogen gripped Adamʼs right wrist tightly and raised his arm high up.

”The winner of The Rule of Power is Adam Vinter!”

It wasnʼt uncommon for the judgesʼ decision to be criticized, but not when Kogen Noukx was the one. No matter who was in the spectator seat, this was Kogenʼs personal kingdom where his word was law.

Clap. Clap. Clap.

Light claps echoed from the side, and a tall silhouette emerged from the darkness slowly increasing its pace.

Gladius smiled slyly, looking intently at the sleeping Adam.

”Great fight, Adam... who knew that one deliberate mistake, one chance would lead to such a remarkable result.”

Clap. Clap. Clap.

Pretty soon, Erik joined him.

Tilda was not sure, she looked at her brother baffled, touching her lower lip. Fromund nodded and Tilda responded the same by starting to clap along with Erik.

Silvana smiled happily, now she could breathe a sigh of relief and be glad for her Phantom.

”Agh... This is it. These long three months have come to an end.”

Clap. Clap. Clap.

The rest of the audience followed, the wave of applause rising and not going to subside anytime soon.

The only ones who didnʼt clap were Zarot and other representatives of the Marzo Family. Not only because of Niroshʼs death, it was more of a tragedy only for Zarot, for the rest of them the disgrace was more important.

Their family was lost in The Rule of Power. Sure, not even one of their members or Phantom subordinates fought for them, but that didnʼt change the situation in any way - defeat was defeat.

The last to support the wave of applause, oddly enough, was Adamʼs opponent - Fromund.

”Good job. I hope weʼll meet in the Dead Lands one day, and this time weʼll be allies instead of enemies. That would be awesome...”

With a heavy sigh, Fromund revealed a faint smile while continuing to slowly clap.

Ahead of him was the same series of identical days, he would work and earn money to pay off his debt and todayʼs hard fight did not bring him any closer to achieving his goal.

But... could Fromund be wrong? After all, there were many powerful people here who saw what he was capable of.

”Indeed, your brother did a good job.” Erik smiled.

Tilda looked up at the grinning Erik. Though she had stood next to him throughout the fight, she didnʼt know how influential he was.

”Hmm? Didnʼt brother lose? I mean... he fought well, but we were promised money only for the victory...”

”Hahahahahahaha!” Erik laughed loudly hitting the ground with his cane.

Tilda frowned, her cheeks puffing up widely.

”Hmm? Did I say something funny?”

In response, Erik only shook his head, he had no intention of offending Tilda.

”Nah, or rather not really... Agh, you see Tilda, there are things in this world more valuable than money and Iʼm not talking about something moral, just something that can be more precious from a material point of view.”

”What...? I donʼt understand anything...” Tilda tilted her head in confusion.

Erik shrugged nonchalantly.

”Well, information, rare things can cost a lot of money, but... connections, with them, even without money you have the opportunity to earn it. That makes connections one of the most useful things in society.”

”Remember that and it will help you more than once in the future.”

”Connections...?”
