Endless Evolution: Last Star

Chapter 1508 1508: Frost Ridge (Part 1)

Adam spent quite a bit of time at the Citadel, where he not only rested and finished all his business, but also learned something new — the Detached Mountains were a pleasant surprise he hadnʼt expected.

Now, Adam knew how the stronger Phantoms ended up in the places they needed to be. The thought that every time after the Forgotten Mills, he would have to travel the same long way to some territory was difficult and problematic.

But, since Adam understood that there was no other way except the spires, he did not complain. At least thatʼs what he thought until that moment.

Step.

Adam and Alexia stepped forward, looking at the shimmering spatial anomaly above them.

All they had to do was jump, and they would find themselves dozens of kilometers away.

”Hey, before we go.” Adam turned to Damien. ”Do you think weʼll be able to find what weʼre looking for there?”

Damien shrugged.

”Who knows? It all depends on you. If your energy points you there, then by overcoming all the trials, you will definitely gain something for yourselves and become stronger. It works every time. You both should know that better than most.”

Alexia nodded deeply. From the moment they stopped in front of their spatial anomaly, she became serious. Deep down, she was nervous about the new trial.

They werenʼt just going to fulfill the conditions for their Third Grand Stars. No, what was more important was that they were going to the Primal Lands.

”Alright, Adam, we have to go. The sooner we leave, the sooner weʼll be back, right?”

Adam raised an eyebrow. He didnʼt expect to hear something like that from Alexia.

”Well, well, it seems youʼre actually worried, arenʼt you?”

Before Alexia could respond, Adam grabbed her hand as they both jumped high into the air.

Tremble. Tremble. Tremble.

Space trembled as the spatial anomaly expanded momentarily, becoming several times wider.

In fact, it wanted to engulf Damien as well, who was standing just a few meters away, but his energy protected him. Even the spatial anomaly couldnʼt affect Damien if he didnʼt want it to.

”What do you say?” Damien asked, looking at the spatial anomaly slowly returning to normal.

Bethʼs voice rang out in his head:

”What do you want me to say? They just used a spatial anomaly. This isnʼt the first time for any of them. Theyʼve used teleports and gotten caught in anomalies like this several times during missions.”

Damien waved his hand, indicating that he was talking about something else.

”No, what about their chances? Even if each condition is unique, you know what to expect given their conditions, donʼt you?”

After a few moments, Beth nodded deeply.

When Beth explained to Adam and Alexia the nature of the conditions for the Third Grand Star and some before that, she did not lie.

However, normally, someone with her experience could understand how difficult it would be to fulfill a particular condition solely by its name.

”Iʼm not worried about Alexia, the Ancient Frost? Letʼs be honest, it doesnʼt sound dangerous at all, especially considering that she uses ice and frost in battle throughout her entire path. But, Adamʼs condition... Thatʼs a different story.”

”Blood of God. Is there anyone at Frost Ridge who fits that description?”

Beth shook her head.

”I donʼt know. Maybe itʼs some kind of ancient monster. In any case, I advise you or someone else to keep an eye on their mission. If we lose those two now, it could be a big blow.”

For a moment, Damienʼs eyes grew deeper and darker. He knew what Beth was talking about. Still, Adam and Alexia were too weak to play at the same table as Damien and his equals.

”Agh, among all the new K4-Phantoms, they are one of the few who have a chance to go further. Considering that they made such progress at the very end of the World Wipe, it gives me optimism.”

It was worth noting that for Damien and Beth, the new K4-Phantoms were not youths like Adam and Alexia, who were not yet 30. No, for Damien and Beth, every K4-Phantom that had appeared since the beginning of this World Wipe fell into this category.

They had both lived long enough to measure periods not in years or decades, but in hundreds of years or even the World Wipes that occurred once every 250 years.

Every time, the same thing happened, and nothing changed, or... practically nothing changed?

...

Tremble. Tremble. Tremble.

Somewhere hundreds of kilometers from the Detached Mountains, among the frosty lands and mountains in front of which lay a forest with great trees, high in the sky, space trembled.

A frosty gust of wind blew toward Adam and Alexiaʼs faces, who were confused and shocked.

Sure, Damien had warned them about what would happen. They understood well what they were doing and the process itself, but hearing and seeing were very different from doing and experiencing something yourself.

Adam and Alexia exchanged glances as the clouds rushed past them one after another, as they fell at tremendous speed straight toward the ground.

Through the Winding Fragments, they could see the mountain ridge and blue abyss, but the spatial anomaly had teleported them slightly away from the Frost Ridge. This was to be expected, as this was how spatial anomalies worked.

It was impossible to know exactly where a spatial anomaly was located, but they did not leave their zones.

”Look!” Alexia exclaimed, pointing ahead.

A few kilometers away, snow-capped mountains and a giant spine covering the mountains were visible.

This was definitely the place they had seen at the blue portal. The spatial anomaly had taken them where they needed to go.

A smile appeared on Adamʼs face, but it quickly froze.

”What the...”

A great silhouette appeared in the sky as two azure wings spread wide, as did two eyes with vertical pupils.

The great ice wyvern headed straight for them, curiously looking at the two guests, who still didnʼt understand where they were.

This was the Primal Lands, and if they wanted to survive, they had to forget that they were warriors and Phantoms.

They had to take on the role of hunters.
