Eldritch Horror Theatre

As someone extremely observant and aware of his surroundings, Fu Qian naturally saw exactly how the conflict broke out.

Just as Catherine swayed her slender waist, setting down a plate of pan-fried short ribs and turning to leave, the customer who had long been lusting after her finally lost his restraint and groped her ass.

Catherine proved quite fierce herself. Without a single word, it took her less than a second to react, spin around, and strike.

The resounding slap left the balding man completely disoriented, and a chorus of shrieks echoed through the restaurant.

Of course, the man was no pushover either. After a brief moment of shock, he flew into a rage, reaching for his waist and instantly drawing a weapon in an iaijutsu stance.

The problem was, wasn’t his equipment a bit too intense?

Looking at the object in the man’s hand, Fu Qian frowned slightly.

Despite its compact design, it was undoubtedly beyond the scope of a simple handgun.

He had every reason to believe that a light pull of the trigger and its terrifying rate of fire would easily tear an ordinary person to pieces.

Fortunately, the man didn’t seem ready to fire just yet. He merely snorted and pressed the muzzle against the beautiful waitress’s forehead. At the same time, he pointed to his own face with his other hand, daring her to try slapping him again.

Naturally, the beautiful waitress was no ordinary person either.

Facing the point-blank threat, Catherine didn’t strike again.

The next moment, her fiery red lips stretched open to a grotesque degree.

With incredible force, the split tore through the corners of her mouth, down her jaw, and straight into her skull. Red flesh and white bone mingled in a horrifyingly gruesome display.

In the next moment, this mouth that had unhinged nearly a full one hundred and eighty degrees snapped forward, swallowing the man’s entire head in one bite and leaving nothing but a bare neck behind.

The gun went off as his finger convulsed on the trigger, rattling like a typewriter. Several rounds even grazed right past Fu Qian’s cheek.

With luck like that, Fu Qian ended up being the closest person to danger in the entire restaurant.

Faced with such a scene, the bustling restaurant immediately plunged into chaos. Yet, as if everyone had cheat codes enabled, the wild spray of bullets completely missed, perfectly outlining the fleeing guests without landing a single hit.

Of course, the danger didn’t just come from stray bullets.

Having swallowed the bald gunman’s head, Catherine found the massive object extremely difficult to choke down.

So much so that as she forcefully clamped her jaws shut, her entire head and neck were torn and deformed. It ultimately stretched out like a piece of dough. Her eyeballs popped out and fell to the floor, while a seemingly familiar black, viscous fluid gushed from the wounds.

In the blink of an eye, this curvy, stunning woman completely lost her human shape, turning into an existence that resembled a mound of sludge.

However, two sets of stark white teeth remained embedded in the viscous black fluid, looking eerie and grim.

At the same time, despite its amorphous shape, its speed was shockingly fast.

Thrashing wildly, the head-end of the creature shot across half the restaurant, swallowing a fleeing coworker in one bite and leaving only the lower half of their body behind.

Meanwhile, a grotesque, giant claw pieced together from pale bones snatched up several people, forcefully stuffing them into its body.

In an instant, the once-orderly restaurant had transformed into a vision of hell.

The churning mass of black fluid had now locked its sights on the only diner who was still seated.

”What a shame.”

Glancing over his table with a hint of reluctance, Fu Qian hurriedly shoved a crab cake into his mouth before turning to meet the giant claw whipping toward him.

Dodging it with ease, Fu Qian instantly morphed his left arm into a heavy fist wrapped in black carapace.

Instead of retreating, he stepped right in, delivering a devastating punch straight at the two sets of teeth.

Under the ferocious force of the blow, the black fluid that had seemed impossible to grasp was violently shattered, exploding into countless fragments that shot out in every direction.

It was actually a non-Newtonian fluid?

Having killed the enemy in a single strike, Fu Qian looked at his fist, silently evaluating the sensation of the impact as realization dawned on him.

...

Weren’t transcendents a bit too common in this place, almost to the point of being cheap?

In that brief moment just now, the monster Catherine had transformed into possessed a Rank that even surpassed the guy who had jumped off the roof earlier.

Even if she hadn’t reached the Demigod Realm, she wasn’t far off.

And the reason Fu Qian had chosen this place as his destination was indeed because of her.

He had abandoned his car and walked simply to observe things along the way.

As expected during his journey, this bizarrely prosperous metropolis was filled with numerous entities possessing inhuman strength.

The moment he spotted this stunning waitress in the restaurant, Fu Qian realized that not only was she incredibly powerful, but her mental state was also extremely unstable—she had been on the verge of losing control.

This discovery made Fu Qian realize he might have found the cog he was looking for.

So, he decisively walked in, took a seat, and quietly waited for that very moment to arrive.

...

Of course, Catherine was the target, but not the ultimate goal. Otherwise, what would be the difference between going through all this trouble and just killing her outright?

Stepping back, Fu Qian glanced at the table and sighed.

Given the opponent’s inhuman size, even though he had been careful to control his strength, a complete mess was still unavoidable.

Continuing his meal was out of the question, but despite his regret, Fu Qian returned to his seat and sat down to wait quietly.

About half a minute later, the space across the table distorted, and a figure appeared without a sound.

It was a fully armored figure, though its build didn’t appear particularly burly.

A near-tangible oppressive force radiated from the knight-style armor covering his entire body.

The seamless structure was adorned with exquisite patterns that linked across the entire suit, and every surface was polished enough to serve as a mirror.

That wasn’t an exaggeration at all. The surface of the armor was genuinely made of individual mirrors arranged in a specific, intricate pattern.

A single glance was enough to dazzle the eyes.

The near-invisibility this person had achieved just moments ago was highly likely tied to this very design.

Of course, the most important detail was that this person was a demigod.

”Name?”

The next moment, a rather magnetic male voice echoed from beneath the visor, which was composed of overlapping inverted triangular mirrors.

”Andiel.”

Even though the other party’s tone was far from polite, Fu Qian answered with complete cooperation.

”Why are you here?”

As if trying to maximize the psychological pressure on Fu Qian, the man’s words carried absolutely no emotion.

”Why am I here? Heh...”

Fu Qian let out a low chuckle. When it came to acting mysterious, he had never backed down from a challenge.

”I was simply guided by the flames.”

”You’d best cooperate!”

This answer clearly displeased the Mirror Knight, who slammed a palm against the table.

Amid a flurry of splinters, the sturdy tabletop was punched right through.

”I don’t care whether you just saved people or not.”

”I’m already cooperating.”

In the face of such heavily implied threats, Fu Qian answered while extending two fingers upward to pinch a transparent Blade.

This bizarre weapon had thrust down from the vintage chandelier right above his head.

”It’s you who doesn’t seem to have much patience for a conversation.”
