Dragon-Marked War God

Jiang Chen smiled and nodded towards the others. He saw Yan Qingcheng, she’s still as beautiful as ever. But her gaze was unfamiliar.

Shen Tianqiao and the others dared not go against Jiang Chen anymore. This fella, to think he’s even friends with the seniors that lead the entrance of the Profound Connection Divine Palace, he’s definitely not your average joe.

“Well then, let’s start the assessment for the Profound Connection Divine Palace.”

The instructors turned and left, leaving Gu Maolu and four other seniors. They then led the 200 participants into the Profound Connection Divine Palace with Gu Maolu as the leader.

On the Lightning-Gathering Peak, the participants’ expressions were heavy. Countless lightning rained, they were all Heavenly Lightning, probably at the same level to the ones they faced during their breakthroughs.

“The Lightning-Gathering Peak is formed by nature. There are two great valleys beside the peak, and lightning falls on it all year round. The first test for you guys is to refine your body with Heavenly Lightning. Those that last ten days above the peak shall pass the assessment, to become a part of the Profound Connection Divine Palace. Those that fail, go back to where you came from,” Gu Maolu said proudly. He’s definitely gotten the attention of the newcomers.

He gave Jiang Chen a wink, the latter was speechless.

“This fella must be feeling good, well… I did get away from Hun Shaoqian, he probably didn’t expect that.

“This Heavenly Lightning… to think it’s a sealed Heavenly Lightning Essence!”

Jiang Chen thought. The first thought he had was to sntach the Heavenly Lightning, it was stronger than his Dawn Sky Golden Lightning and Nine Stars Heavenly Tribulation Lightning. He might not know the name of this Heavenly Lightning… but it’s definitely better!

“To think that a Heavenly Lightning could be sealed in here, how great such a feat must be!”

Jiang Chen thought. It won’t be easy for him to obtain this Heavenly Lightning as the person who sealed this must be powerful.

“This Heavenly Lightning is not something anyone could withstand. Remember, you guys have a choice, you can try it until you die. Of course, there’s one more piece of news for you guys. The last one to come down from the Lightning-Gathering Peak will be given the chance to cultivate in the Spectre Valley for three days as a reward. As for the Spectre Valley, you’ll understand it once you officially enter the Profound Connection Divine Palace,” Gu Maolu added.

The newcomers became serious.

Although they were prodigies from their respective regions, in this place, they’re just newcomers. They do not possess any privilege, this assessment would surely cut-off a bunch of competition!

“What Heavenly Lightning is this? Terrifying. To stay on top of the Lightning-Gathering Peak for ten days, it’s a living hell!”

“Yeah. but if we can’t even get through this, we’ll never become disciples of the Profound Connection Divine Palace.”

“I’ll risk my life to make sure that I stay.”

“Agreed. I am a peerless prodigy from the San Ling Boundary, a mere baptism from a Heavenly Lightning is nothing! Hmph.

Everyone summoned their courage and prepared themselves to enter the Lightning-Gathering Peak. Gu Maolu sent Jiang Chen a telepathic message at this moment.

“Be the last if you can, the Spectre Valley is one of the four great saintly regions of the Profound Connection Divine Palace. It’s extremely effective for your body and your soul if you can cultivate there.” Gu Maolu said firmly.

Jiang Chen silently looked up, if this was any other form of assessment, he might be scared of it, but this Heavenly Lightning baptism was like taking an afternoon lunch for him.

“Jiang Chen?” A pale-faced scholar looking youngster walked towards Jiang Chen and gave a smile, a funny looking smile.

“Yes?” Jiang Chen said.

He’s pretty strong, Peak Mid Divine King Realm, pretty prideful gaze. Upper-tier amongst the participants.

“Tian Xing Boundary, Divine Golem Sect, Yang Yuan. I’ve heard of your name since long ago, I hope to defeat you when I have the chance.” Yang Yuan said pridefully.

“Anytime.” Jiang Chen shook his head and sighed.

He had too many enemies, and those that went against him were all put down.

“I hope you won’t disappoint me, you’re a legend in Tian Xing Boundary. I hope that your fame isn’t fabricated.” Yang Yuan turned and rushed into the Lightning-Gathering Peak .

Gu Maolu and the gang watched the 200 Divine Kings enter the peak. They also experienced this 10 thousand years ago; he felt moved from watching Jiang Chen and the others entering the Lightning-Gathering Peak.

“Big Bro Mao, go take a rest if you’re tired, we’ll be enough to watch over the place.”

“Yeah, Big Bro Mao, us brothers felt bad for you doing such a meager task, haha.”

“Big Brother Mao, that newcomer, you know him?”

Gu Maolu was the leader of the three, even though he’s not the best amongst the seniors, he was pretty famous. He’s rich and a rich man would always have his own followers.

“It’s fine.”

“Oh right, be wary, that guy is my brother, report to me if any of those newcomers dares to touch him.” Gu Maolu said.

“Of course! Big Bro Mao has said the words. We’ll never disappoint you.”

Gu Maolu and the trio looked up towards the Lightning-Gathering Peak. Three days passed and nobody came down from the Lightning-Gathering Peak.

Lightning roared and barraged from the skies, and rumbled across the valley. Its savage energy was trying to engulf everything in fire and destruction.

On the seventh day, there were three people who were at their limits. However, none of them chose to back off, even though they were bombarded by the Heavenly Lightning.

“Weird, why is the Heavenly Lightning so weak? Has it been weakened? Well… nobody could withstand it if it was at full power.” Jiang Chen frowned and mumbled.

The others would’ve spat out blood if they heard him. They were risking their life to stay there and he said it’s pretty weak?

As a matter of fact, it was true, the Heavenly Lightning was somewhat different, but even the true might of the lightning means nothing for him.

On the eighth day, the trio couldn’t take it anymore but they didn’t come down from the Lightning-Gathering Peak. They were elites that were chosen from the four great counties, how could they be weaker than the others? However, their persistence was their doom, the three of them were destroyed by the lightning and their souls perished.

The three deaths made everyone contemplate the seriousness of the situation.

Everyone wanted to enter the Profound Connection Divine Palace. They wanted to prove that they’re the greatest prodigy, nobody wanted to lose. If they couldn’t even withstand the 10 days mark, they’d never become an official member of the Profound Connection Divine Palace. That’d be a great blow for them, one that they couldn’t recover from.
