The fiery stairway seemed to lead directly to the palace in which the inheritance of the Empress could be found. On the surface, it seemed to have given people a pathway. Despite that, no one dared to take a single step on it. They had seen how those two people died. None of them wasn’t afraid of death. Naturally, the inheritance was almighty, but one needed luck to obtain it, otherwise death would be the only outcome.

*Hu…* *Hu…*

The fire was burning violently all over the large flight of stairs. The entire Golden Horizon seemed to be burning away. The temperature of the surroundings had risen to a very high degree, but as these cultivators were the geniuses of the geniuses, and were at least of Immortal Emperor realm, they didn’t have trouble resisting the high temperature.

“This is the ‘one hundred steps fiery stairs’. It’s used to lead the descendant. I know why now. Xiao Yao Qin hasn’t emerged for a long time because it hasn’t found its true descendant yet. The reason it has shown itself today is because, of all the geniuses that entered Golden Horizon, one of them is the one it had been waiting all along.” Big Yellow spoke.

When these words were heard, everyone’s eyes fell upon Wu Ningzhu once more. The current Wu Ningzhu was still in the same state as before, still immersed in the unique trance that the others couldn’t see through.

“Is Miss Wu the descendant that the Qin has chosen? Is this inheritance opened specially for her?” Yang Bufan asked.

“It’s hard to say, but it’s highly likely. If this is true, Sister Ning is going to obtain a fortune far greater than any of us.” Big Yellow answered.

Jiang Chen began to feel nervous, more nervous compared to when he’s facing any of his own matters. Wu Ningzhu was the most important person in his life. This situation couldn’t help but draw anxiety out of him. This was no different than gambling. Two situations would occur if Wu Ningzhu made her way up the stairs. One was that she would obtain an unparalleled and heaven-defying fortune. The second was if she wasn’t the one the Xiao Yao Qin was waiting for, she would surely die.

“The stairway has emerged. The inheritance of the Empress is just ahead. I won’t let myself miss it. I’m going to try my luck.”

“That’s right. Those two were ill-fated because they acted before the emergence of the fiery stairs, which is a totally different scenario compared to now. The inheritance has been officially opened. I don’t think it’s going to stop us now.”

“I feel the same way. I have once entered an immortal vault before this. One can never go into the immortal vault before it’s completely opened because the immortal vault itself contained enormous pressure, when its passageway is truly opened however, anyone will be able to enter it. So I think this stairway has to be the passageway to the inheritance of the Empress. Let’s waste no more time everybody.”

Most of them couldn’t suppress the excitement in their hearts anymore and were ready to act. Twenty or thirty people rushed towards the fiery stairs simultaneously. There had been plenty of audacious people in this world. There was a saying that said: Audacious ones died in fights while timid ones were starved to death. Every one of them had a similar thought – there must be benefits in entering the immortal vault. Possibly a great fortune had been placed at the entrance of the immortal vault. Anyone who reached there first would be the first to get it.

They approached the fiery stairs without hesitation and stepped onto it. More than a thousand pairs of eyes were watching them. Due to them having no intention to take the initiative to be there first, they waited for the result, to see if these people would be incinerated like the previous geniuses.

“Argh…” “Argh…” “Argh…”

Wails were heard as soon as the group took their first step onto the staircase before they were incinerated. Those intermediate Immortal Emperors amongst them were also burnt by the Fire of Sun. A pure Fire of Sun wasn’t supposed to be this powerful, at least it wouldn’t be so powerful to the extent that Immortal Emperors could be burnt to death. But this Fire of Sun was obviously different. It had existed for tens of thousands of years, and once belonged to Empress Xiao Yao. There was a mark of Great Sovereign on the surface of the fire. Its ability to kill was simply unimaginable.

*Hua……*

The scene immediately caused a great uproar. Many of them were already retreating with shaky steps. Looking at the fiery flight of stairs was like looking at the scariest thing in the Heavens and Earth. Every living creature in the Heavens and Earth now wanted to avoid it like a plague.

“How did that happen?”

Dragon Shisan was astonished. Initially, he also thought that the heavenly stairway was the passageway to the interior of the palace, but the truth told him otherwise.

Countless eyes were filled with regrets. The inheritance of the Great Sovereign was just ahead of them, but they could only watch at it with their eyes. They couldn’t even lay a step on the fiery stairs let alone entering the palace.

“I have said that Empress Xiao Yao is searching for a descendant. Otherwise, her Qin wouldn’t have emerged on its own. There must be someone here that has attracted the interest of the Xiao Yao Qin. So, anyone else other than the one that the Qin selected will only die by breaking into it. There will be no exception. Monkey, you can go and try if you don’t believe me.” Big Yellow spoke, grinning widely at Dragon Shisan.

“F*** you! Why don’t you try it yourself?”

Dragon Shisan rolled his eyes. Although he was very confident in his abilities, it wasn’t to the extent where he would clash with a Great Sovereign. He had just been born, and didn’t want to die yet.

Just as Big Yellow’s words fell, Wu Ningzhu made her way towards the fiery stairs.

Upon seeing this, Jiang Chen grabbed Wu Ningzhu’s arm and called, “Sister Ning.”

There was no way for Jiang Chen not to worry about her. So many people had died due to recklessness. The weapon that was left by Empress Xiao Yao was too terrifying. If Wu Ningzhu was also burnt by the Fire of Sun, not even the Ancestral Dragon Pagoda would be able to save her life.

Wu Ningzhu turned her head and smiled. “Little Chen, there’s no need to worry about me. I have sensed a very great summoning force. The Xiao Yao Qin is summoning me. I must go.”

Wu Ningzhu returned to her usual state, but her bearing was incomparably resolute.

Jiang Chen wanted to say more, but suddenly a golden light shot down from the Xiao Yao Qin like a meteor with extreme speed. Its target was Wu Ningzhu. Instantly it enveloped her and formed a huge golden net.

*Swish!*

This time, innumerable eyes looked over, making Wu Ningzhu the object of universal attention.

“The Xiao Yao Qin has locked her in. She seems like the one that the Xiao Yao Qin was looking for. She must be the descendant of Empress Xiao Yao.”

“I have never noticed that there’s such a beautiful lady in the Heavens and Earth, but her cultivation base is too weak. She’s just a half-step Immortal Emperor, not even considered a true Immortal Emperor. I reckon that she didn’t have any unusual talent. So did Empress Xiao Yao chose her?”

“So this is it. It turns out that the Xiao Yao Qin has emerged for someone. We were wrong about everything . The inheritance of the Great Sovereign has been hidden for tens of thousands of years. It won’t emerge all of a sudden unless it has found its descendant. This girl really has heaven-defying luck.”

“Let’s see if she can step onto the fiery stairs first.”

…………….

At this moment, everyone knew what was going on. Those who died earlier were completely mistaken about the Xiao Yao Qin. The descendant of the Great Sovereign could only be chosen by the Sovereign herself. There was no use competing for it.

“Haha! Little Chen, this is the unmatched opportunity of Sister Ning. Empress Xiao Yao really has chosen her.” Big Yellow laughed loudly.

“Sister Ning, be careful.”

Jiang Chen touched Wu Nignzhu’s face. Since the Xiao Yao Qin had chosen her, he naturally wouldn’t stop it. Now, he felt incomparably delighted and excited. Before coming into Golden Horizon, he had calculated with the Great Divination Art that Wu Ningzhu would encounter some sort of opportunity here. Sure enough, it happened, but even Jiang Chen himself didn’t think that the fortune that Wu Ningzhu would get would be this great.

“I know, don’t worry.”

Wu Ningzhu gave Jiang Chen a reassuring smile then strode onto the fiery stairs. Her body was covered with golden light, making her look like an angel of the Heavens and Earth. Also, people could almost see the trace of Empress Xiao Yao on her.

“Stop her. Don’t let her take the inheritance of the Great Sovereign, otherwise, we won’t have any chance.”

At this moment, a yell was heard. It was precisely the voice of Nanbei Chao.

*Hua……*

As soon as these words were heard, the crowd of geniuses got agitated. Stop her? That was right. Why should they watch her obtain the inheritance of the Empress? If they couldn’t get it, they shouldn’t let others get it as well. Especially those who had grudges against Jiang Chen, their eyes turned sharp. Many of them were crystal clear that Wu Ningzhu was Jiang Chen’s woman. If she obtained the inheritance of the Great Sovereign, she would surely become extremely powerful in the future. At that time, Jiang Chen would be undefeatable. They might even die here today. Naturally, this was what Nanbei Chao had been fearing.

“What makes a puny little half-step Immortal Emperor qualified to obtain the inheritance of the Great Sovereign? Compared to us, she’s nothing. We are the ones who had great luck. By killing this woman, the Xiao Yao Qin will reselect its descendant again. At that time, we will have our chance.” Nanbei Chao shouted at the crowd, trying to stir up their envy.

“Dammit!”

Jiang Chen cursed. The inheritance was certainly very appealing to the people. And Nanbei Chao had created trouble at this critical moment by taking advantage of people’s greed. Such a method was truly spiteful.

“That’s right. By killing this woman, Empress Xiao Yao will choose another descendant. At that time, we will get our chance.”

“She’s just a half-step Immortal Emperor. She isn’t as qualified as all of us.”

“Kill her. We won’t let her get the things that we can’t get.”

………………….

The scene was going out of control. Nanbei Chao had succeeded in changing the atmosphere with just a few words.

Qin/qin – A plucked seven-string Chinese musical instrument of the zither family.
