Dragon-Marked War God

Chapter 233 – Wu Jiu [1]

The old man seemed calm, no signs of grievance could be found on his face. However, from his pair of cloudy eyes, one could still tell that he did feel some sorrow.

“If he’s able to leave this place alive, his cultivation will certainly see another breakthrough.”

Jiang Chen thought to himself. The old man had reached a state where he could see through life and death, just this comprehension alone could help him gain incredibly much.

“What? Ten years? You’ve actually stayed here for ten years? A desolate land like this? If this master dog stayed here for ten years, I would certainly be bored to death!”

Big Yellow’s emotions were riled up.

“Being able to stay alive in this harsh environment, you need a cultivation base at the Late Combat Soul realm, at least. There aren’t many of these great warriors in the entire Eastern Continent.”

Jiang Chen said with an indifferent tone.

Hearing this, the old man’s cloudy eyes suddenly light up. He stared at Jiang Chen with a look of disbelief. He couldn’t help but start examining the young man in front of him.

Being able to discover he was a Combat Soul warrior with a single look, and also judging his real cultivation level just from knowing how long he had been here… this was not someone anyone could do, that’s why this old man couldn’t help being shocked.

“What an extraordinary young man… but, too bad…”

The old man kept shaking his head, his eyes filled with deep regret. He could easily tell that Jiang Chen was extraordinary and had innate potential, a genius like this was supposed to become a well-known guy in the world. But now, he had to die in this shit place. What a pity.

“Ten years ago, I travelled alone to Inferno Hell. With my cultivation level, I tried walking through every inch of it, checking and finding out the secrets of Inferno Hell. But, I accidentally came to this Poisonous Miasma Space, and it has been ten years since then.”

The old man said in a self-mocking manner. He didn’t look at Jiang Chen, as if he was just talking to himself. But at the same time, it seemed he rather enjoyed the feeling of talking. It seemed like he hadn’t talked to anyone for quite a long time.

“By estimations, my death will arrive tomorrow. But, I don’t want to be like all the other people who died here, having my body corroded by the poison miasma, that’s too tragic. Young man, once I die tomorrow, I hope you can burn my body into ashes.”

The old man looked at Jiang Chen, focusing on the flames dancing around Jiang Chen’s body.

This was the last request from an old man who had gone past his prime.

Jiang Chen inwardly sighed. The man didn’t ask Jiang Chen to help him accomplish any weird unfulfilled desire at the last moment of his life, and neither did he have any special orders for Jiang Chen. He only requested that Jiang Chen burned his body and allowed him to have a proper death.

“Old man, your estimation is really accurate. If I didn’t come, you’d be dead by tomorrow. But, since I’m here, death will have to wait.”

Jiang Chen walked toward the old man, then he waved his hand and unleashed a flame. The dancing flame looked like a living dragon, it transformed into a flame barrier and covered the old man within. In an instant, all the surrounding poisonous miasma was pushed away, as if it had just met its natural enemy.

Jiang Chen had decided to save this old man, not for any specific reason, but because this old man had been persistently staying alive in this place for ten years. Jiang Chen really respected his endurance. Besides, the old man showed an easy going attitude from his words, and that really gave Jiang Chen a good impression.

“What a violent flame, it actually carries a divine aura. Even the poisonous miasma doesn’t dare try to corrode it.”

The surprised expression the old man’s face became stronger. Shocked, he looked at Jiang Chen.

“This flame is the True Dragon Flame, the king of all flames. Obviously, the poisonous miasma won’t be able to get close to it.”

Big Yellow walked up to the old man with his tail wagging and said.

Only now did the old man pay more attention to the big yellow dog. When he saw that Big Yellow could walk in the poisonous miasma without being affected by it, the shock in his mind was like the raging seas.

This man and dog were both truly amazing beings.

After the short shocking moment, the old man returned to his calm state. He looked at the fire barrier covering his body, and with a smile on his face he said, “Young man, put away this flame barrier, it will only consume your energy and focus; you can’t hold it for a long time. The poisonous miasma has already invaded all my internal organs, I’m a dying person; it isn’t necessary for you to waste any energy on me.”

“I said I wouldn’t let you di here, and I will prove my words. Open up your mind and release your defense; let me help you get rid of all the poisonous miasma in your body.”

After saying that, Jiang Chen placed his palm on the old man’s chest.

The old man’s body swayed a little. He stared at Jiang Chen’s palm with no idea what Jiang Chen was going to do next. He knew very well about his current condition, and it was impossible to get rid of the poisonous miasma that had invaded his body.

“You are a dying person, what are you afraid off? Put away your defense completely, open up your mind.”

Jiang Chen said with a smile.

The old man replied with a smile, “You’re right, I am a dying person, there is nothing I should be afraid of.”

The old man who had been tense for the last ten years had finally loosened up completely at this moment. He saw the confidence in Jiang Chen’s eyes, and it made him feel calm, as well as hope.

Jiang Chen unleashed the Dragon Transformation skill, sending a Dragon Mark from his palm into the old man’s body. Letting someone else’s energy enter one’s body was extremely dangerous, the old man had put away all his defense, and if Jiang Chen was up to something bad, the consequences would be devastating. Trust was the most important aspect in this situation.

But this old man had no fear, because with his current condition, there was nothing that could scare him. After all, he was soon going to die. Besides, if Jiang Chen really was up to something bad, he could just kill the old man with a palm strike, there was no need to go through so much hassle.

The blood red Dragon Mark circulated an entire round within the old man’s body. After that, it returned to Jiang Chen’s body. It only took Jiang Chen three breath times before he had completed the healing process. Finally, he removed his palm from the old man’s chest.

Puh!

The old man violently trembled, and in an instant, he threw up a mouthful of black blood and begun violently coughing.

The old man coughed for some time before he returned to normal. Then, he immediately raised his head and looked at Jiang Chen who was squatting in front of him. An extreme look of astonishment could be seen in his eyes.

The old man checked his body’s condition, and he instantly found out that all the poisonous miasma that had been piling up in his body for the last ten years had disappeared. His internal organs that had completely lost their vital signs were actually pumping with an extreme active force now.

More importantly, since all the poisonous miasma was gone, the old man felt extremely relaxed and comfortable, as if someone had just lifted a gigantic mountain that been weighing down on him for the last 10 years.

“Comfortable, what a pleasant feeling! For the last ten years, I have never felt such a pleasant joy before!”

The old man closed his eyes. He really enjoyed this moment, it was a feeling he hadn’t felt for so many years.

Ten years, day by day, year by year, he had been suffering from constant pain. For ordinary people, suffering such severe pain for ten years would definitely make that person crazy.

The old man did go crazy before, but in the end, he had seen through life and death. Now, Jiang Chen had restored his hope of living.

The old man was immersed in the pleasant moment, and Jiang Chen didn’t disturb him. He had absorbed all the poison in the old man’s body into his own body.

After some time, the old man finally opened up his eyes. He looked at Jiang Chen and said, “Little brother, you actually absorbed all the accumulated poison in my body into yours, that’s really dangerous! But, I can tell that it actually hasn’t affected you… can you tell me how you did it?”

“Old man, I actually absorbed the Green Hellish Python’s demon soul, and it gave me the ability to resist all poisons. The poisonous gas here can’t harm me at all. As for the miasma, my flame can purify it.”

Jiang Chen replied with a smile.

“What an amazing young man! Little brother, you’ve saved my life today, but I’m unable to repay your great kindness.”

The old man bowed toward Jiang Chen.

“The reason why I saved you is because I have a good impression of you. I, Jiang Chen will save the people I like. Those I have a good impression of and want to save, even if he’s just a low dog, will be saved. Those I don’t like, even if he is a king sitting up high, won’t receive the slightest help from me.”

Jiang Chen said in an imposing manner.

The old man felt shocked. He was surprised to see a young Heavenly Core warrior act like this. He had never met anyone like this in his life before, but the old man did like Jiang Chen’s words.

“Saving those you like, good! I, Wu Jiu too lived my life doing whatever I liked, I do things my own way, and not even the heavens can restrict daddy! Brother Jiang Chen, if you don’t mind, just address me as brother Jiu.”

Although the old man had no yuan energy, he could still act in a subduing manner. It was very easy to tell that he was not an ordinary man.

“Haha, being able to meet brother Jiu in this shitty place, fate must have brought us together.”

Jiang Chen laughed out heartily. If those who knew Wu Jiu heard Jiang Chen, a young man, addressing Wu Jiu as brother, they would be extremely shocked. In the entire Martial Saint Dynasty, there were only a handful of people who could address him as brother Jiu. It would be a great honor if they could even address him as Lord Jiu.

With Jiang Chen’s age, he should supposedly address him as senior, but Jiang Chen is actually the reincarnation of a Saint. No one in the entire Saint Origin realm has the qualifications to be his senior. Addressing the old man as brother Jiu was because both of them were like-minded.

“Little brother, although you’ve helped me get rid of all the poison in brother’s body, there is still no way we can leave this place.”

Wu Jiu shook his head as he stared at the defense mechanism which was glowing dimly in front of him.

“What brother Jiu means is that we can’t break this defense mechanism?”

Jiang Chen furrowed his brows.

“That’s right. This is a natural defense mechanism, a remarkable and intact defense mechanism, and there is no way to find a single breaking point on it. If I was a Combat King warrior, I’d be able to break this defense mechanism with the dimensional forces. But too bad, my limited cultivation has caused me to be trapped in here for ten years.”

Wu Jiu felt helpless.

“Brother Jiu, here are some pills and crystal cores, you just use them to restore your cultivation. I’ll check out this defense mechanism.”

Jiang Chen casually threw a storage ring at Wu Jiu. There were quite a lot of Mortal Restoration Pills, natural essences, Earth Restoration Pills, and crystal cores within the ring.

Wu Jiu’s current condition was really bad. His body was like a river that had been completely dried up, and he needed some urgent nourishment.

With these items, Wu Jiu would slowly be able to restore his cultivation.

Wu Jiu’s eyes lit up. He took the storage ring and said, “Alright. Thank you for this.”

Wu Jiu knew about his current condition really well, and therefore, he didn’t reject Jiang Chen’s offer. Jiang Chen’s kindness would forever be in his heart.
