Dragon-Marked War God

Chapter 177 – Golden Egg

Zzz…

The Firethorn Savage looked like it had fallen asleep as it snored. Every time it breathed, some golden colored bubbles would burst out from its nose together with a strong energy. If there was some dust in front of it, each breath would be able to produce a sandstorm.

“Damn it, a Mid Divine Core Firethorn Savage is really powerful. If I could break through to the Divine Core realm, I would easily be able to kill him!”

Big Yellow spoke to Jiang Chen through his Divine Sense. Although the Firethorn Savage’s bloodline was noble, if it was compared to a Dragon Horse’s bloodline, it was still far behind.

“What an overbearing Firethorn Savage! Even the breath is enough to frighten most people! I think that even Daoist Black would be unable to defeat it. If I could absorb this Firethorn Savage’s demon soul, I would be able to break through to the Late Heavenly Core realm, and I would be one step closer to the Divine Core realm! A Firethorn Savage’s demon soul could help me form at least another 300 Dragon Marks!”

Jiang Chen’s eyes lit up. Too bad, it was extremely hard to kill this Firethorn Savage. This big guy was just too strong.

“Buddy, are you going to neglect Little Yu’s recovery?”

Big Yellow gazed at Jiang Chen angrily.

“I’m just joking. There are so many Divine Core demon beasts out there, and once I enter Inferno Hello, I won’t have to worry about a lack of demon beasts. The Firethorn Savage’s demon soul will be used to concoct the Profound Six Solar Pill which will save Little Yu.”

Jiang Chen explained to Big Yellow. Although he was slavering the Firethorn Savage’s demon soul, he knew Yan Chen Yu needed this demon soul more than him right now.

“So what should we do now? Don’t tell me we are just going to watch it from here all day?”

Big Yellow was getting impatient.

“What do you think? Do you want to go up there and try fighting it yourself?”

Jiang Chen had a smile on his face.

“Get lost!”

Big Yellow moved his body away from Jiang Chen.

“This Firethorn Savage is too strong, there is no way we can defeat him face to face. We need to find some clever way. Let’s hide our breath and wait here first. This Firethorn Savage has been living in the Misty Mountain for a long time, it must have its own routine. Let’s keep an eye on its routine for now.”

Jiang Chen said.

A man and a dog held their breath as they watched the Firethorn Savage silently sleeping. Big Yellow yawned, and with a depressed expression he said, “Damn it, what is this all about?! Both of you are just staying here and watching a demon beast sleeping, it’s making your father sleepy now!”

Jiang Chen gazed at Big Yellow, he too felt somewhat depressed. He was once the greatest Saint in the world, but now he was hiding and watching a demon beast sleeping. This was ridiculous.

An hour later, the sun had risen to the top of their heads. It was around noon now, it was also the time when the pure Yang energy was the strongest. The sleeping Firethorn Savage suddenly opened its eyes, and it looked really frightening.

The Firethorn Savage let out a loud roar. After that, it’s massive and majestic body slowly stood up from the ground. The 6 meter tall body had become a 15 meter tall body, and it had four thick and strong legs fully covered with golden scales that looked like four huge pillars.

It was so huge, the Firethorn Savage was like a small sized golden hill. Its body was shining so brightly that no one could stare directly at it.

The Firethorn Savage had awakened. Jiang Chen and Big Yellow strengthened their spirits at the same time. They didn’t dare make a single noise, and they held their breaths tightly.

This Firethorn Savage obviously didn’t expect someone would intrude its territory. Therefore, it didn’t pay any attention to the surround area. This was not because its senses were weak, it was because Jiang Chen and Big Yellow were extremely good at hiding. If it was someone else, they would have probably been discovered by the Firethorn Savage.

Roar!

The Firethorn Savage suddenly let out another loud roar that sounded out through the woods. With a sway, its massive body jumped into the skies and dashed towards another direction. It soon disappeared from Jiang Chen and Big Yellow’s sight.

“Gone like that?”

Big Yellow was startled.

“It’s now noon, it’s the time when the pure Yang energy is at tits richest, this Firethorn Savage should have continued its cultivation, why did it choose to leave at this hour?”

Jiang Chen furrowed his brows and felt puzzled.

“Whatever, let’s take this opportunity to check out its cave.”

Big Yellow jumped up and prepared to walk towards the cave, but Jiang Chen pulled him back.

“Buddy, why are you pulling me?”

Big Yellow bared his teeth.

“Be careful, if that Firethorn Savage comes back, we’ll be doomed.”

Jiang Chen pulled Big Yellow back to their hiding spot.

“Let’s spend some more time monitoring the Firethorn Savage’s routine, then we’ll discuss what to do next.”

Jiang Chen wanted to cover all bases. Their opponent was so powerful, there was no way they could fight it with force alone, they had to understand all of its routines before thinking about a way to deal with it.

The wait lasted for half an hour, and Big Yellow also nagged continuously for half an hour. He kept complaining that Jiang Chen was a coward. Half an hour was more than enough for him to wreak havoc in Firethorn Savage’s cave.

But Jiang Chen just remained calm. He wouldn’t act recklessly before figuring out the Firethorn Savage’s routine.

Swoosh…

Right at this moment, the Firethorn Savage came back from afar. Jiang Chen and Big Yellow could clearly see that his mouth was open when it flew back. Within his mouth, something was shining brightly. It was a ball of water.

Clop!

The Firethorn Savage landed on the field and shook the entire hill. After that, he walked back into the cave and spent another half hour in there.

Half an hour later, the Firethorn Savage came out from the cave and laid down on the same spot, then it continued slumbering.

“It’s sleeping again.”

Big Yellow rolled his eyes. Finally, he had found someone who could sleep more than him.

“Be patient, let’s continue waiting.”

Jiang Chen kept comforting Big Yellow. This dog seriously lacked patience.

The Firethorn Savage really knew how to sleep well. It only woke up around noon the next day, and once again, at this hour of the day, the Firethorn Savage flew away from the field in the same direction as he previously went.

“It’s gone, again.”

Big Yellow widened his eyes.

“So this is its routine. Yesterday, when the Firethorn Savage came back, I think there was something in its mouth. You saw that too, right?”

Jiang Chen asked.

“Yea, there really was something in its mouth.”

Big Yellow nodded his head.

“Come, let’s follow and check where the hell this Firethorn Savage went.”

After saying that, Jiang Chen stood up and walked towards the direction where the Firethorn Savage went. He and Big Yellow didn’t fly tis time, they just sprinted on the ground. Flying would cause a slight disturbance with the natural Yuan energy, and this would make the Firethorn Savage discover their existence.

Tens of miles away from the Firethorn Savage’s cave there was a valley. Right in the middle of this valley there was a pond, and at the center of the pond there was a huge floating rock. The rock was hollow, and right now, the Firethorn Savage was laying in the with its head inside the hollow rock.

Jiang Chen and Big Yellow both saw some crystal clear liquid within thee rock. The liquid was so clear that it reflected the sunlight like a crystal. They knew what the liquid was, it was the rare Energy Spring Water, the same that they had found in the Water Curtain Cave. It was a surprise for them that even this place had Energy Spring Water.

Right now, the Firethorn Savage had soaked its red tongue into the Energy Spring Water. It wasn’t drinking the water, it had just put its tongue into it without moving.

“What is it doing now?”

Big Yellow asked with a puzzled expression.

“He is releasing his own life-force essence… why is the Firethorn Savage releasing its life-force essence into the Energy Spring Water?”

Jiang Chen furrowed his brows. The Firethorn Savage was using the time where the pure Yang energy was the richest to release its life-force essence into the Energy Spring Water, and this behavior really puzzled Jiang Chen. If it was here to drink the Energy Spring Water, that would be somewhat understandable. This water was after all a rare treasure. Human or demon beast, they all had a huge demand for it.

But not only did this Firethorn Savage not drink the Energy Spring Water, it was actually releasing its life-force essence. This didn’t bring it anything good, it would just cause it a huge consumption.

Half an hour later, the Firethorn Savage opened its mouth and swallowed the Energy Spring Water that had merged with its life-force essence. After that, it jumped up into the skies and flew back to where it came from with great speed, causing some huge waves to appear in the pond.

“So it was this Energy Spring Water that was in its mouth yesterday.”

Big Yellow said.

“What else could it be?”

Jiang Chen rolled his eyes.

“Kaka, there is so much Energy Spring Water here! Don’t waste it, let I take it all away!”

Big Yellow was laughing and was filled with excitement.

“No way! If you take the Energy Spring Water, it will alert the Firethorn Savage. If I am not mistaken, the Firethorn Savage will come here again tomorrow. If it finds out the Energy Spring Water is gone, it will surely become enraged.”

Jiang Chen kept pulling Big Yellow back.

When they returned to their hiding spot, they saw the Firethorn Savage walking out from the cave once again. The Energy Spring Water in its mouth had disappeared, but the Energy Spring Water’s energy ripples didn’t exist in its body. It was the opposite, it actually looked tired after losing some of its life-force essence, and it soon lied back down onto the field and begun sleeping.

During the next two days, the Firethorn Savage repeated its routine. It flied to the pond around noon, got some Energy Spring Water, went into the cave, then went to sleep.

“This Firethorn Savage doesn’t drink the Energy Spring Water itself, there must be something important in the cave that is cares so much about. We’ll enter the cave tomorrow at noon.”

Jiang Chen made up his mind. After spending three days, he had finally figured out the Firethorn Savage’s routing. It was obvious that there was something important that this Firethorn Savage cared extremely much about in the cave. Therefore, it might be the key point for Jiang Chen to deal with this Firethorn Savage.

Around noon, the next day. Just like before, the Firethorn Savage went to the pond once again. After it left the place, Jiang Chen and Big Yellow instantly jumped up and went into the cave with lightning speed. They knew that it would take the Firethorn Savage half an hour before returning, so they had more than enough time.

The Firethorn Savage’s cave was really huge, but simple. Right in the middle of the cave there was a small pond, and in the center of the pond there was a golden egg the size of a human head. The head was glowing in a golden light.

A golden aura was hovering around the golden egg, and there were countless golden symbols swirling around the egg. A rich sense of life-force was coming out from, and underneath the golden egg there was the Energy Spring Water that contained the Firethorn Savage’s life-force essence.

“This is the Firethorn Savage’s egg, its baby. No wonder the Firethorn Savage wanted to merge the Energy Spring Water with its life-force essence.”

Jiang Chen finally understood why this Firethorn Savage kept wasting its life-force essence.
