In the darkness, the Warlock tried to pull the same trick again. However, Wei Yuan wasn’t going to give it a chance this time. He swiftly let go and grabbed onto their torso.

The Warlock struggled desperately, twisting and thrashing with all their might. However, Wei Yuan had both arms clamped firmly around their midsection this time. No matter how hard they struggled, they simply couldn’t break free.

Just as Wei Yuan was about to make his move, he suddenly sensed a deep, malevolent intent aimed at his midsection!

Some things were more important than the primary objective. He immediately shielded his vital spot with one hand, and sure enough, it was yet another—wait, no, it was two Permanent Impotences!

Any Shaman capable of unleashing a curse that could harm Wei Yuan’s physical body had to be among the most powerful of their kind. The fact that this Warlock could cast their curses without performing a blood ritual made it virtually impossible to guard against as well. Furthermore, they knew a special Shamanic art that allowed them to move freely even in the normal underground environments, whereas Wei Yuan had to turn the surrounding soil into sand first before his Earth Escape could work properly. If his Dao energy reserves weren’t as deep as an ocean, if he was any other cultivator, he would’ve exhausted his Dao energy and suffered a bitter defeat long ago.

Taking advantage of Wei Yuan’s distraction, the Warlock escaped once more. Then, Wei Yuan sensed an even deeper malice aimed at his midsection, slightly toward the back.

This time, Wei Yuan held nothing back. First, he sealed his ears with Dao energy. Then, he produced a golden double-pronged fork, channeled all of his Dao energy, and flicked it viciously!

TING!!

The piercing sound carried far and wide. At the same time, more than a dozen sound sources resonated simultaneously in the darkness, their vibrations colliding with one another. They were the dozen or so ancient bells Wei Yuan had secretly set up, and they had been tuned specifically to resonate with the tuning fork. The resonance of a dozen bells were such that even Wei Yuan, despite having sealed his ears beforehand, was struck by waves of discomfort and nausea.

If Wei Yuan felt this way, the petite Warlock could only fare worse. Much, much worse. They curled up in agony and lost all ability to move for a moment. The next moment, a Five-Level Mortal-Suppressing Pagoda landed on them and boxed them inside. Wei Yuan then cast them into his Dao Foundation.

The second the petite Warlock was sealed with the Five-Level Mortal-Suppressing Pagoda, a terrifying consciousness suddenly awoke within her body. At the same time, in a place far, far away, a pair of eyes opened—their gaze crossing heaven and earth in an instant—and looked at this location.

“You dare!” A majestic voice boomed in Wei Yuan’s ears, carrying an aura of terror that could strike fear in all living beings!

Unfortunately, Wei Yuan’s ears were sealed right now. He couldn’t hear what the voice was saying.

Wei Yuan hastily dispelled the Dao energy covering his ears, but the terrifying will had fallen silent. It was as if it felt that exchanging even a single word more with Wei Yuan would tarnish its Dao heart.

It was at this moment the black mist dissipated, and Wei Yuan regained his senses. He immediately sensed two powerful auras rushing toward him at breakneck speed; they would be here in a matter of breaths.

The reinforcements were coming too quickly, and the time he had left was too short. Fortunately, Wei Yuan had discussed several possible scenarios with his Master and Big Senior Sister in detail, and devised contingency plans for each. That was why he didn’t need to think twice; he simply needed to put the plan into action as quickly as possible.

Two Shamans arrived at the battlefield one after another, moving as quickly as they could.

The severely wounded beast had long since fled, leaving nothing behind save for some undulations in the ground.

One of the Shamans who arrived was the archeress Warlock. The other Shaman was a slender, serpentine Warlock with a humanoid upper body, and a serpentine lower body. He moved just like a snake; lower body slithering along the ground. His energies were profound and caused ripples to appear in the surroundings within several zhang of him—he was a Great Warlock.

As soon as the duo arrived, they spotted over a dozen Cold Flies carcasses lying on the ground. Some of them had been sliced in half. In one case, the head and stinger lay far, far apart from each other.

The Great Warlock frowned slightly and said, “Today is clearly not the Day of Flies. How could so many Cold Flies have appeared?”

When he noticed that the archeress Warlock was cowering and hesitating to step forward, he frowned harder and snapped, “What are you afraid of? Even if the Day of Flies were to occur, I could still bring you back to the kingdom in time. Ugh, just stay away from me, you useless thing. See that spot? Go stand guard over there!”

The archeress Warlock bowed her head and responded, “As you command, Lord Tan Wu[1].”

The Great Warlock suddenly stopped in his tracks and looked down at his feet, frowning. “This is Little Junior Sister’s Six Senses Mist of Blindness, but why can’t I sense her?”

Just then, a Cold Fly’s carcass in the distance twitched suddenly.

Though the movement was subtle, how could it escape a Great Warlock’s perception? He immediately walked toward the Cold Fly.

A single Cold Fly was actually very weak. Even hundreds were nothing to the Great Warlock. However, a Cold Fly swarm usually moved about in the billions. Even the smallest swarm numbering tens of millions of Cold Flies.

The severed carcass of a Cold Fly was somewhat blocking his path. A Great Warlock would never alter his course for such a thing, so he naturally swept it aside with a flick of his tail. Just as the Cold Fly’s remains flew into the air, a ghostly, vengeful sword beam suddenly flashed before his eyes and pierced his serpentine body!

The Great Warlock let out a deafening roar, but before it could react, more than a dozen Mortal-Suppressing Pagodas fell from the sky and crashed against his body with brutal force!

The Mortal-Suppressing Pagodas had a negligible effect on the Great Warlock’s movements. Even a dozen of them striking simultaneously only slowed its movements slightly and delayed the flow of its mystic energy by half a beat. However, this sliver of difference was all that was needed—during this fraction of a second’s lull, the sword light had already shredded his Dao Foundation into mincemeat!

Inside the realm of Qingming, Zhang Sheng suddenly looked up at the sky on a whim. Then, he resumed his reading.

Wei Yuan didn’t even have time to collect his spoils; he had fled straight back to the Homeworld.

No sooner had his figure vanished, a blood-red cloud, nearly pitch-black in hue, appeared where he had been standing. Drops of blood began falling from the sky at the same time the surrounding space was sealed off.

A single drop of the rain was enough to tear a gaping hole straight through the Great Warlock’s serpentine body. It offered no resistance whatsoever.

The rain stopped falling after just a few breaths. The blood cloud drifted back and forth in the air, yet it could not find its target any longer.

Back in the realm of Qingming, Wei Yuan opened his eyes, his face a mix of delight and lingering trepidation. The petite Warlock he had captured was clearly an important figure; to think that they were harboring the divine thought of a Shadow Warlock! Moreover, a Great Warlock had been stationed nearby as their guard. The moment trouble arose, they had arrived at the scene in less than ten breaths.

Later, as soon as Wei Yuan’s presence was exposed, the Shadow Warlock’s blood curse appeared immediately. They had been this close from capturing him.

Fortunately, the Great Warlock guarding the petite Warlock was incomparable to the other Great Warlock who had been accompanying that formidable female Warlock. He was probably still in the early stage of his cultivation. That was why he had died on the spot after being caught by near total surprise taking a solid hit from the sword qi of Zhang Sheng’s Parting Sorrow.

Thanks to this, four hundred Heaven Merits had entered Wei Yuan’s account. Of course, the lion’s share had gone to Zhang Sheng.

Wei Yuan didn’t pause to find out the exact number of his earnings. Instead, he dove straight into his sea of consciousness, knowing that the petite Warlock was formidable enough that a single Five-Level Mortal Suppressing Pagoda would not be able to hold them for long.

Upon arriving at his sea of consciousness, Wei Yuan was surprised to find that the Great Realm was unusually quiet. The five-level pagoda was standing not far away from the jade hill, completely still.

Before Wei Yuan could scan it with his perception, he suddenly saw the petite Warlock stepping out into the open. They—no, she had passed right through the Five-Level Mortal-Suppressing Pagoda as if it was intangible.

She was petite yet curvaceous. She was only as tall as a ten-year-old girl. A row of scales covered her spine, from which a few ribbons extended. Were it not for the mysterious ribbons, she would have looked no different from a human being.

At the moment, the four eyes on her face looked completely vacant. She did not seem to notice Wei Yuan’s presence at all as she beelined toward the jade hill... and stepped inside.

Inside the jade hill, the small pool at its base was filled with deep, black water. As soon as the female Warlock stepped into the jade hill, she walked directly into the black water and vanished. Ripples spread across the black water’s surface for a bit when suddenly, a translucent figure rose to the surface. She then exited the jade hill and stood motionlessly in place.

It was none other than the female Warlock who had stepped inside earlier, but something was different. Most of the distinctive features of a Shaman had faded from her body. There was a silver line running down her back. Her original four eyes had transformed into two: specifically, two eyes had regressed into two small black dots near her brow.

Having witnessed the entire transformation, Wei Yuan felt a sudden chill run through him for some unknown reason.

Deep within the Shaman realm, in a grand hall crafted entirely of red jade, hundreds of Shamans of various forms stood motionlessly as if asleep. There was an altar at the far end of the hall, and on the highest tier of the altar sat nine Great Warlocks in a circle. They were surrounding a small pool of blood, and beneath their seats were multiple blood grooves. Blood was flowing out of their bodies, following the blood grooves to converge in the pool at the center.

At the end of each groove stood the sculpture of a strange beast; each of them unique. The blood of the Great Warlocks were flowing through their mouths and dripping into the pool of blood.

Bobbing up and down in the blood pool was a petite yet voluptuous body. Her aura was as obscure as it was profound. Just then, a string of bubbles suddenly rose from the bottom of the pool, and the previously calm blood pool began to churn violently. The body in the pool contorted in agony, curling up and convulsing uncontrollably.

Her aura skyrocketed, surpassing its limit in an instant, only to plummet from its peak! She let out a piercing scream and fell completely still after that.

One of the nine Great Warlocks seated around the pool suddenly staggered and collapsed without a sound.

The remaining Great Warlocks opened their eyes simultaneously. After a moment of deathly silence, a terrible scream rang out: “The ritual has failed! The little princess... is dead!”
