Divine Level Witch Doctor

Meanwhile, Zhao Yuan and Lin Xue were already in the Mercedes G55 SUV driven by the Bone Woman.

Glancing at Lin Xue, Zhao Yuan asked with concern, ”Why do you seem so distracted? What are you thinking about?”

”I’m thinking about what you were all just talking about,” Lin Xue replied. ”Evil Ghosts, Witch Priests, Cultivators... Zhao Yuan, can you explain what all that is?”

”Of course. I would have told you even if you didn’t ask,” Zhao Yuan said with a smile.

’These things aren’t some great secret. It’s one thing to hide them from outsiders, but there’s no point in hiding them from the people closest to me. Besides, Lin Xue is my girlfriend; she’s bound to meet Ying Ji, Hao Li, and the others eventually. It’d be impossible to keep this from her forever.’

Lin Xue nodded and looked at Zhao Yuan intently, waiting for his explanation.

But Zhao Yuan didn’t explain right away. Instead, he asked, ”Are you still practicing the Four Saints Technique I taught you?”

”I am,” Lin Xue nodded.

Zhao Yuan asked again, ”How does it feel?”

Lin Xue answered, ”It’s agonizing while I’m practicing it, but I feel incredible afterward. I can clearly feel myself getting stronger. The only bad part is that my appetite has gone insane. My mom hasn’t stopped nagging me about it. Thankfully, even though I’m eating a ton, my weight hasn’t changed, and neither has my figure...”

Zhao Yuan chuckled. ’Of course, girls are always more concerned about their weight and figure.’

Shaking his head, he said, ”That’s all normal. Right now, you’re in the first stage of Body Refining, the Muscle Strengthening Realm. You need to eat a lot to meet your body’s demands.”

”Body Refining? Muscle Strengthening Realm? What do those mean?” The two new terms confused Lin Xue.

”It’s a cultivation realm, the very first step on the path of cultivation...” Zhao Yuan then launched into a detailed explanation, telling Lin Xue everything she wanted to know. He covered cultivation, its various schools, as well as demons and ghosts. He only omitted the part about his Witch Doctor heritage, claiming instead that he had been taught by a reclusive master.

After he finished, Lin Xue was completely stunned.

What Zhao Yuan described had completely upended her worldview and left her reeling.

After a long moment, Lin Xue snapped out of her shock, but she still found it hard to believe. She grabbed Zhao Yuan’s arm and asked, ”Is everything you said true? You’re not tricking me, are you?”

Zhao Yuan knew that some things couldn’t be explained with words alone; he needed to provide some hard evidence. So he said to the Bone Woman, who was driving, ”Show Xiaoxue some proof.”

”Okay!” the Bone Woman replied. Her head rotated a full 180 degrees, and her eyes stared straight at Lin Xue as she said cheerfully, ”Miss Lin, Master wasn’t lying to you. Cultivators, demons, and ghosts really do exist in this world...”

”AH!”

Before the Bone Woman could finish, Lin Xue’s face went pale. She let out a bloodcurdling scream and then... fainted.

She had literally been scared unconscious.

You couldn’t call her a coward. Anyone who suddenly saw a person turn their head 180 degrees would be terrified.

Zhao Yuan glanced at the unconscious Lin Xue, then at the Bone Woman, and said with a wry smile, ”I just asked you to give her some proof. Did you have to scare her like that?”

The Bone Woman turned her head back and said while driving, ”It’s the most effective method of proof. Besides, I was already going easy on her by not ripping off my Human Skin Cloak.”

”Alright, you have a point.” Zhao Yuan shook his head with a wry smile and pinched two of Lin Xue’s pressure points—her philtrum and her Neiguan point.

When Lin Xue came to, she tightly gripped Zhao Yuan’s hand. She eyed the Bone Woman fearfully and said in a low voice, ”Zhao Yuan, I think I was just hallucinating...”

The Bone Woman’s head did another 180-degree turn. ”What you saw was not a hallucination.”

”A Ghost!”

Lin Xue started screaming in terror again.

Luckily, Zhao Yuan was prepared this time. He placed a hand on her back and promptly sent a stream of Qi into her body, which kept her from fainting again.

”You’re mistaken. I’m not a Ghost, I’m a Demon,” the Bone Woman corrected her with a serious expression.

Zhao Yuan said irritably, ”Alright, that’s enough. Just drive properly. Don’t turn your head around again. What if you cause an accident?”

Only then did the Bone Woman obediently turn her head back to its proper position and continue driving.

Zhao Yuan waited until Lin Xue had calmed down a little before he spoke. ”So, do you believe me now?”

”Are there really Immortals in this world? And demons and ghosts?” Lin Xue asked, clutching Zhao Yuan.

”There really are!” Zhao Yuan nodded.

Lin Xue immediately asked another question, ”So does that mean I’m a Cultivator now, too?”

”You are, but you’ve only just started,” Zhao Yuan replied.

But Lin Xue didn’t care about that. She grew excited. ”I never thought I’d become a Cultivator too! I have a chance to become an Immortal! This is amazing!”

Zhao Yuan chuckled, at a loss for words.

’Become an Immortal? As if it were that easy. From ancient times to the present, countless Cultivators have pursued this dream, one after another, but how many of them ever truly managed to attain the Dao?’

But he didn’t crush her spirit. It was good for her to have a dream.

”So I’m in the novice Muscle Strengthening Realm? What realm are you in then?” Lin Xue asked. Now that she’d accepted what Zhao Yuan told her, she was full of questions. She was, however, still terrified of the Bone Woman.

Zhao Yuan replied, ”To be precise, you’re in the Early Stage of the Muscle Strengthening Realm. I’m two realms higher than you, at the Qi Listening Realm. After that is the Postnatal Realm, which is divided into three minor realms: Serenity, Fasting, and Fetal Breath.”

He then answered many more of Lin Xue’s questions, some about cultivation, others about magic.

Suddenly, Lin Xue thought of something and asked, ”Oh, right. Since you taught me the Four Saints Technique, doesn’t that make you my master?”

”Of course it does!” Zhao Yuan said, putting on a stern face. ”If you want to learn any real skills in the future, you’ll have to serve your master well. Otherwise, I might just make things difficult for you.”

After their playful banter, Zhao Yuan took out his phone and called Liu Xiaoya, arranging to meet her at the Cao Tang Peninsula District to look at the villa together.

After he hung up, Lin Xue asked, ”Are you really not worried about the Ghost hiding in the villa?”

”Don’t worry, your husband is very powerful,” Zhao Yuan said with a laugh.
