Divine Level Witch Doctor

Rongcheng City, Lakefront House.

Hao Li and Ying Ji were crouching on the roof.

In the garden below, Cheng Haoyu was frantically punching and kicking a rockery. Amidst a series of rumbling impacts, rubble flew and dust billowed. That hard and beautiful rockery was being brutally torn apart by Cheng Haoyu, reduced to a pile of debris.

Ying Ji looked on, shocked, and marveled, ”Good heavens, this Raccoon Dog Meat not only makes people manic, but it also multiplies their strength. The combat power Cheng Haoyu is unleashing now is worlds beyond his peak under normal conditions!”

Hao Li finished his phone call and, seeing the scene, said with a pained voice, ”Oh, my rockery! I spent a fortune on that, had it specially brought from the Suzhou Gardens. No way. Once Cheng Haoyu is back to normal, I’m definitely making him pay for my loss!”

Ying Ji asked, ”Was that a call from Zhao Yuan? What did he say?”

”He said he’s giving me a recipe that can cure Cheng Haoyu’s mania and return him to normal.” Hao Li recounted what Zhao Yuan had just said on the phone to Ying Ji, then asked, ”Sister Ying, do you think Little Brother Zhao’s recipe will work?”

After a pause, he added, ”It’s not that I doubt Little Brother Zhao’s medical skills. It’s just that no one has eaten Raccoon Dog Meat for hundreds of years, or else Cheng Haoyu wouldn’t have had this kind of accident. And Little Brother Zhao hasn’t even seen Cheng Haoyu in person; he just prescribed a recipe based on my brief description over the phone. I really can’t believe this formula will be that effective.”

Ying Ji nodded slightly, clearly agreeing with Hao Li’s view, but then said, ”We don’t have any other options. We can only give it a try. Let’s just hope it has some effect.”

Hao Li sighed. ”I suppose that’s all we can do.”

Hao Li’s phone chimed a few times; he had received a message. It was the recipe from Zhao Yuan. Hao Li glanced at it and said, ”I’m going to prepare and brew the medicine. You stay here and watch Cheng Haoyu. Don’t let him run off.”

”Okay, leave this to me,” Ying Ji replied with a nod.

They both knew that they couldn’t let Cheng Haoyu leave Lakefront House no matter what. Otherwise, the situation would blow up! The trouble that would cause wouldn’t be easily resolved.

Over an hour later, Hao Li returned to Ying Ji’s side with a large bowl of freshly brewed medicinal soup. The two of them then went at him together, even using the leftover Five Ghosts Binding Talismans from their fight with the Raccoon Power, to barely restrain the berserk Cheng Haoyu. They pinched his nose and poured the soup into his mouth.

Not long after drinking the medicinal soup, Cheng Haoyu, who had been struggling and roaring, gradually quieted down.

Seeing this, Hao Li and Ying Ji heaved a long sigh of relief. As they looked at each other, they both saw the shock in the other’s eyes.

They had originally thought Zhao Yuan’s recipe wouldn’t have much of an effect. They never expected things to turn out so differently from what they had imagined! The medicine’s effect was shockingly good!

Ying Ji walked over, checked Cheng Haoyu’s pupils, and said, ”The bloodshot veins are starting to recede, and the vacant look in his eyes is gradually being replaced by clarity. I believe it won’t be long before Cheng Haoyu makes a full recovery!”

”Holy crap,” Hao Li couldn’t help but curse, blurting out in astonishment, ”I really thought Little Brother Zhao was just bullshitting me. Now I know he was telling the truth the whole time. This recipe actually works. He’s incredible! To prescribe such an effective formula just from a description over the phone... he truly lives up to his reputation as the one who defeated a master of Japanese Traditional Chinese Medicine. I’m completely convinced!”

Ying Ji said, ”Stop standing around marveling. Hurry up and call Zhao Yuan. Tell him the situation here so he doesn’t have to worry anymore.”

But Hao Li said, ”Someone like Little Brother Zhao, who can come up with such a potent recipe, probably wasn’t too worried about Cheng Haoyu to begin with.”

Despite saying that, he still dialed Zhao Yuan right away.

After hearing about Cheng Haoyu’s condition, Zhao Yuan sighed in relief. ”It’s good that he’s regained his senses. What about his body temperature? Has it gone down?”

Hao Li went over and felt him, then said, ”It’s gone down. Man, he’s covered in sweat, like he was just pulled out of the water.”

”Get him some sugar and salt water to drink,” Zhao Yuan instructed.

”Okay, I’ll go right now,” Hao Li replied. He handed the phone to Ying Ji and went to the kitchen to prepare the sugar and salt water for Cheng Haoyu.

”Zhao Yuan, where are you now? How much longer until you arrive?” Ying Ji asked.

Zhao Yuan answered, ”Still a ways to go. I probably won’t get there until tonight.”

”Alright, we’ll wait for you at Lakefront House.” Ying Ji let out a long sigh, her voice full of disappointment. ”I never would have thought... We worked so hard, nearly died even, to get this Raccoon Dog Meat, and in the end, it turns out we can’t even eat it...”

Zhao Yuan said, ”The Raccoon Dog Meat can still be eaten.”

”It can be eaten?” Ying Ji was stunned and disbelieving. ”The moment you eat this meat, you get a fever and go berserk. How are you supposed to eat it? Besides, Cheng Haoyu only had a tiny bite today. If he’d eaten more, he would have definitely suffered a Qigong Deviation!”

Zhao Yuan replied, ”I was just looking through some old texts and found a record about Raccoon Dog Meat. It says that the meat is extremely ’hot’ and ’dry’ in nature. To eat it, you have to pair it with ingredients and medicinal materials that are extremely ’cold’ and ’cool.’”

”Extremely ’cold’ and ’cool’ ingredients and medicinal materials? I’m afraid ordinary ones won’t do, right?” Ying Ji was sharp; she grasped the key point immediately.

Zhao Yuan said, ”That’s what I was thinking, too. The Raccoon Dog Meat is comparable to Spiritual Ingredients. To pair with it, you must also use Spiritual Ingredients or Spirit Medicinal Materials. Does your Ying Family have anything like that?”

Ying Ji gave a bitter smile. ”In this day and age, Spiritual Ingredients and Spirit Medicinal Materials are rarer than giant pandas. While our Ying Family has some, we don’t have any with extremely ’cold’ and ’cool’ properties. However, there is a place where we should be able to find them!”

”You mean the Cultivator Forum?” Zhao Yuan asked.

Ying Ji said, ”That’s right. Within the Cultivator Forum, there’s a place called the Rakshasa Ghost Market. All sorts of things are sold there, including Spiritual Ingredients and Spirit Medicinal Materials. I’ll go online now and see if there’s anything suitable. If not, I’ll post a purchase request. That way, if any Cultivator has what we need, they’ll get in touch with us.”

Zhao Yuan nodded. ”Good, let’s do that. My account level on the Cultivator Forum is too low to enter the Rakshasa Ghost Market, so I’ll have to leave this task to you guys.”

”Leave it to me!” Ying Ji replied. After hanging up, she immediately used her phone to log into the Cultivator Forum, entered the Rakshasa Ghost Market section, and began searching for suitable Spirit Medicinal Materials and Spiritual Ingredients.
