Dimensional Codex System: I'm really not a cultist!

”Hmm...”

Staring at the weapon in front of her, Ruiko was torn with indecision. Meanwhile, Fang Zheng introduced the two different choices to her.

Of course, he wasn’t just using hero skills from LOL directly, since Ruiko was just an ordinary student and not some exceptionally powerful creature. So Fang Zheng merely modified the skills a bit as a basis. He wasn’t asking Ruiko to learn them exactly as originally intended—she wouldn’t be able to learn that anyway.

The reason Fang Zheng offered two choices was simple, it was about whether Ruiko wanted to focus on offense or defense.

The Swordmaster of the Gale was definitely offense-oriented, while Fury of the Storm was support. Now it was up to Ruiko to decide which one she wanted.

However...

”What if I want to choose both?”

”No problem...”

”Huh? Really?”

Ruiko widened her eyes in surprise at Fang Zheng’s response, while Fang Zheng just shrugged.

”Of course, although they’re two different paths, only the last skill is different; the rest don’t vary much. Besides, if you’re going to learn, it’s you who’ll endure the hardship, not me. If you wish to push yourself, that’s your choice.”

At this point, Fang Zheng still pointed something out to her.

”However, as for weapons, you can only choose one.”

”Then I’ll choose this one!”

As she spoke, Ruiko cheerfully pointed to the longsword in Rem’s hand.

”You’re planning to focus on offense? Why?”

Hearing Fang Zheng’s inquiry, Ruiko felt somewhat embarrassed and stuck out her tongue.

”Well... because I’ve always been under the protection of Classmate Shirai and Classmate Misaka. I want to be able to avoid troubling them and to protect myself as well. Moreover, I also hope to be able to lend Classmate Misaka a helping hand...”

”Hmm... I see.”

Upon hearing this, Fang Zheng nodded. He had to admit, Ruiko was quite rational. Obviously, she defined herself as someone who needs to learn to protect herself first, and then assist others. It’s a fine choice after all, since it’s not possible for Kuroko Shirai and Misaka Mikoto to always be conveniently with her whenever Ruiko encounters danger. If Ruiko is ever alone and faces danger, at least she would have the ability to handle the enemy, right?

After all, solo, mid-lane, jungle, and ADC can escape or counter-kill when caught, but the support getting caught usually means doom...

Under these circumstances... hmm, first let’s go with riding with the wind, then adjust Howling Hurricane and Steel Slash, and add a Wind’s Barrier and Guardian of the Gentle Wind. As for the next R skill... it’s decided.

Fang Zheng activated his personal terminal and made some adjustments.

”Alright, pick up the sword.”

”Yes!”

Ruiko playfully saluted Fang Zheng, took a deep breath, and reached out to grab the longsword. Immediately, the longsword emanated a vivid red radiance, illuminating her bracelet, and Ruiko’s eyes widened in surprise.

”Mr. Fang Zheng, I feel like there’s suddenly a lot more in my head!”

”These are the combat tactics I just input into your brain. It’s merely to aid your learning, but if you don’t put in the effort to train yourself, it won’t have much effect.”

This was something Fang Zheng had thought of earlier. It’s like many martial hero novels where the protagonist suddenly gains new techniques during power transfers—it’s more convenient to practice this way.

”Hmm... hmm...”

Ruiko closed her eyes and pondered for a moment, then showed a difficult expression.

”Mr. Fang Zheng, isn’t this too hard for me?”

It’s no wonder Ruiko would ask this, since the actions in her mind felt both flashy and powerful, and Ruiko couldn’t see herself doing such professional combat moves being just a fourteen-year-old middle school student who mostly jogs in gym class.

”Hm.”

Upon hearing Ruiko’s inquiry, Fang Zheng nodded.

”Normally, an average person would take at least thirty to fifty years to achieve minor success.”

”What—!?”

Ruiko nearly jumped at this.

”Do I have to train for thirty to fifty years?!”

This answer really startled Ruiko; it seemed like a joke. Thirty to fifty years for training—how long would that take?

”I’ve already said average people, are you average?”

Fang Zheng rolled his eyes, looking at Ruiko.

”You’re at least an ability user now, right? Ability users need to use their abilities! Just like Misaka Mikoto, when she releases Railgun, it’s definitely shot out using electromagnetic acceleration. Otherwise, how could a fourteen-year-old girl accelerate a coin to that degree using her fingers? How strong would she have to be? Did she train the Mighty Vajra Finger?”

”Ah hahaha, that’s true...”

Upon hearing this, Ruiko awkwardly scratched her head. She had also forgotten that she was no longer the powerless person she used to be. Even though it’s just a DEMO, she’s now at least LV2...

”The first thing to practice is the basic skill: Wind’s Barrier. This skill is the foundation of your combat. I think you already know the key point, which is to control the wind anytime and anywhere to increase your limb speed. You see, like when you’re running, if there’s a wind blowing from behind, it feels a bit easier, right? You can manipulate air currents, so follow this...”

”Okay, I’ll try...”

Ruiko tightened her grip on the longsword, frowned, and then stepped forward.

However, whether due to Ruiko’s nervousness or excessive force, as soon as she took this step, she let out a scream. Her right leg suddenly flew forward, and she ended up doing the splits mid-air — thankfully, Rem’s quick reflexes saved her. Otherwise, if Ruiko landed with that posture, she wouldn’t be able to do anything for the next few days.

”Phew... thank you, Miss Rem.”

Having been caught by Rem, Ruiko breathed a sigh of relief, then she cautiously stood and took another step forward — only to sit on the ground immediately like someone who lost balance in skating.

”Practice slowly. In the beginning, there’s bound to be various problems, and these can only be overcome by you. Remember, this ability needs to be maintained continuously, gradually increasing the duration. Ideally, you should be able to sustain it for twenty-four hours a day. This will also help improve your ability.”

Watching Ruiko suffer various falls, Fang Zheng shook his head, as he’s indicated earlier, the one enduring hardship is Ruiko herself. She chose to undergo high-difficulty and intensity training, and that’s her own business, isn’t it?

”I’ll give it my best!”

Of course, Ruiko wouldn’t just give up like that. Soon, she stood up again for another attempt. Meanwhile, Fang Zheng watched Ruiko’s various fancy falls for a while and then turned to leave.

The little girl was wearing tight pants today. No matter how she falls, there’s no benefit to seeing anything.

Really doesn’t understand people’s hearts.

Leaving the training room, Fang Zheng took another walk, then went out to give a lecture to students from Academy Garden and other places before receiving a call from Riko.

”Are you sure?”

”Of course, Mr. Fang Zheng, Arya has returned, and she’s sworn she’s definitely going to catch Lupin IV.”

Riko’s voice carried a hint of pride, clearly showing her disdain for Arya.

”Oh, by the way, Arya has found a partner.”

”Oh? Someone actually wants to? Who is it?”

Hearing Riko’s words, Fang Zheng was somewhat surprised. Given Arya’s arrogant demeanor, someone is willing to be her partner?

Could it be an M who doesn’t feel comfortable unless they’re being scolded?

”It’s a student from the ordinary department, named Toyama Kintsu, an E-rank Martial Investigator.”

At this point, Riko chuckled.

”It seems Arya really can’t find anyone, but that Toyama Kintsu is also quite an interesting person.”

”Whatever, whether Arya can find someone isn’t something we’re concerned with.”

Clearly, Fang Zheng didn’t care whether Arya had a partner or not. Regardless of who she finds as a partner, the outcome won’t change.

”So, is the bait ready?”

”Of course, this time we’re planning to steal an artifact from the exhibition soon to be held at Tokyo Museum. The announcement has been sent, and during this period, the Armed Detective Academy has already received a request for security assistance from the museum. Arya will definitely participate... Mr. Fang Zheng, are you planning to take action?”

”Exactly, what’s the specific time?”

”Tomorrow night.”

”Then it’s tomorrow night.”

Fang Zheng quickly made the decision and then asked another question.

”By the way, regarding Reiji over there, did your investigation reveal anything?”

Currently, concerning item 312, Fang Zheng had connections only with Riko, Arya, and Reiji. Fang Zheng had already analyzed Riko’s item 312 material completely, and Arya’s was found inside the body; only Reiji’s side lacked clues, so he handed the matter over to Riko, who was at the same school as Reiji.

”No, Reiji seems quite mysterious, only found out that she’s seemingly not local, but a foreigner... probably of Mongolian descent.”

”Oh, that’s fresh.”

Hearing this answer, Fang Zheng was surprised. Based on his experience, foreign attributes in Japanese works typically feature UK, France more often, also America and China. But Mongolia... Mongolia is quite an uncommon attribute. At least Fang Zheng recalled that in the Japanese ACG he’s seen, female characters with Mongolian attributes are rare; UK, France, Germany are more common.

Wondering whether it’s Inner Mongolia or Outer Mongolia...

Never mind, better deal with Arya first and then determine Reiji’s issue.

With this in mind, Fang Zheng slightly curled his lips.

It’s about time for Professor Moriarty to make an appearance.
