Destined Entwining: Capturing My Devoted Beau

Chapter 828: Chapter 417: Bold Hypothesis, Careful Verification (First Update)

”Marilyn is the personal secretary to the president of the Foster Consortium and has helped my company bid against the NewHuman Corporation. Nathan Sheldon is the vice president of Sheldon Investment Bank and the eldest son of the chairman of the Sheldon Consortium,” Kenneth Osborne introduced calmly.

Francis Johnson made a sound of understanding, ”Why are they helping you?”

Kenneth Osborne: ”...”

”Nathan Sheldon was introduced to me by Ms. Marilyn. As for why Ms. Marilyn is willing to help me, to be honest, I’m also puzzled,” Kenneth shrugged, ”but I don’t have time to think about that.”

”We talked all night yesterday. This morning I received a text from Nora saying she wanted a divorce.”

”Then when I arrived, she was with Edward Foster. Feeling utterly disheartened, I planned to support them, so I agreed.”

Francis Johnson laughed, ”You two are really busy. When you’re not together, each of you is a big shot in your own field. But when you are together, it’s like your capabilities are cut in half.”

”You are the epitome of twice the effort, half the result.”

”Is it that serious?” Kenneth didn’t like hearing this, sulkingly asked, ”Are we really not a good match?”

”Whether or not you’re a match has nothing to do with others,” Francis pointed out meaningfully, ”Only the two of you can decide that.”

”Alright, I guess it’s time to let go,” Kenneth took a sip of his drink and quickly changed the subject, ”As for why Ms. Marilyn wants to help me.”

”She said that the special effect contract of my company was won with her help, and now that there’s a problem with the contract, it’s also related to her, so she wants to help me.”

Francis finished his meal, wiped his mouth with a napkin, and said, ”That explanation sounds a bit forced.”

”Yeah, I thought so too, but she was so enthusiastic, I decided to hear her out, and it turned out there were indeed gains,” Kenneth pointed to that rare book.

”Well, it’s good to have gains,” Francis nodded at him, ”but be careful whether there’s any trickery. We can make bold assumptions and proceed with caution. As for what to do, I won’t give you any advice, you have to come up with your own solution.”

Kenneth nodded busily, ”I’m very thankful to you today, Mr. Johnson, for enlightening me. The perspectives you provided were ones I never considered before. Talking with you for an hour is better than studying for ten years, this is not an exaggeration but a fact.”

”You’re quite the talker,” Francis laughed, ”I have high hopes for you, don’t let us down.”

He patted Kenneth Osborne on the shoulder, indicating the conversation was over.

Kenneth Osborne left Francis Johnson’s company and went straight back to his three-bedroom apartment.

Once home, he fell asleep immediately, sleeping for almost twenty hours straight.

When he woke up the next day, it was nearly noon.

He had slept from yesterday afternoon until noon the next day.

This stretch of sleep made him feel much more refreshed.

After waking up, he took a shower and organized his things, finally noticing the brand-new divorce certificate.

Considering that many of his classmates don’t even have girlfriends, while he had already become a divorcee, once again, his life had reached a certain milestone ahead of others.

Kenneth Osborne, with a solemn face, locked the divorce certificate in his safe.

He took off the ring on his finger and placed it next to the divorce certificate in the safe.

Even after divorce, life goes on.

Kenneth Osborne drove to the company.

Arriving at his office, he took out the rare book Marilyn had given him and read it carefully.

This was a book from over thirty years ago, detailing the history and founders of that company clearly.

Like countless other Genesis Enterprises of that country, the company was located in the renowned Silicon Valley.

Silicon Valley incubated numerous high-tech industries, producing many Fortune 500 companies worldwide.

And this small company nestled in an inconspicuous area of Silicon Valley, seemingly hadn’t made much progress in the past thirty years.

In the early days of its founding, there were only three people, all working in software programming.

Back then, computer effects were just in their infancy.

Creating a sketchy little flower using BASIC language on a computer was already considered a remarkable special effect.

Who would’ve thought that computer effects would one day evolve to today’s level of realism?

Kenneth Osborne was utterly absorbed in reading.

Until office hours were over and everyone had left, he was still in the office reading.

At dinner time, he habitually picked up his phone, intending to call Gabrielle Winters’ family to say he wouldn’t be home for dinner. Only when he found Gabrielle’s number did he remember he was divorced from Lawrence Winters.

He no longer had the privilege to dine with them.

Of course, he no longer needed to inform anyone of when he’d be home.

Now, he was all alone, a single man.

Feeding one person, the whole family stays full.

Kenneth Osborne chuckled self-mockingly, then gave up on the idea of calling Gabrielle, opened a food delivery app, and ordered himself a meal.

Meanwhile, Lawrence Winters had already packed his luggage, passport, and visa, planning to go abroad, to the country where the Grant Branch’s base was located.
