Death Guns In Another World

Chapter 2072: World of Flame

That evening, they stayed by the lake, the clearing now bathed in the cool, silvery light of a rising moon. The last embers of the sunset had faded to a deep indigo, and the first stars pricked the sky above the mountain peaks.

With a practiced flick of his wrist, Alex summoned a small feast from his item box. A thick woolen blanket appeared on the soft grass, followed by a low wooden board that served as a table. Saeko, now well-accustomed to this particular magic, didnʼt bat an eye. Instead, she began arranging the items he produced: a cast-iron pot filled with a hearty stew that still steamed, a loaf of crusty bread, a wedge of cheese, and a bowl of dark cherries.

But the final item made her pause. Alex produced a bottle of wine, its glass dark and dusty. The label, though faded, spoke of a vintage from a region known for vineyards that had long since been swallowed by forest.

”Now thatʼs a surprise,” she said, a genuine smile gracing her features. ”Plundering royal cellars now?”

”A commanderʼs prerogative,” he replied, a sly grin tugging at his lips as he worked the cork free with a soft pop. He poured the deep ruby liquid into two simple clay cups. ”Seemed a shame to let it gather dust. Some things are meant to be shared.”

They sat side-by-side on the blanket, the simple, hearty food a perfect end to the day. The wine was rich and complex, a taste of a quieter, more refined world that felt a lifetime away. The roar of the waterfall had softened to a distant, rhythmic rush, a white-noise backdrop to the intimate quiet between them.

For a long while, they ate in comfortable silence, watching the moonʼs reflection shatter and reform on the lakeʼs dark surface. The dayʼs exertion had left a pleasant weariness in their muscles, a feeling of earned rest.

Saeko swirled the wine in her cup, her gaze thoughtful. ”Today... it felt different. For a moment, when our mana held, it was like I could finally see the path forward. Not just swinging a sword, but truly understanding the flow.”

Alex nodded, leaning back on one elbow to look at the stars. ”Youʼre crossing the threshold from technique into intuition. Thatʼs where true power lies. Itʼs not about strength, but synergy.”

”Synergy,” she repeated, tasting the word. Her eyes drifted from the stars to him. ”Is that what this is?”

He met her gaze, the moonlight etching the planes of his face in silver and shadow. The air, which had thrummed with violent energy hours before, now hummed with a different, more potent tension.

”Maybe,” he said, his voice low. ”Or maybe itʼs something simpler.”

He reached out, his fingers gently brushing a stray lock of hair from her cheek, his touch as deliberate and controlled as his sword strokes, but infinitely softer. Saeko didnʼt flinch. She leaned into the contact, her own hand coming up to cover his, her calloused fingers lacing with his.

The world narrowed to the space between them—the scent of pine and aged wine, the cool night air, the warmth of their joined hands.

”Whatever it is,” she whispered, her voice barely audible over the waterfallʼs murmur, ”Iʼm not letting go.”

A slow, true smile spread across Alexʼs face, one that reached his eyes and banished the usual shadow of solitude within them. ”Good,” he said, his thumb stroking the back of her hand. ”Neither am I.”

Under the watchful moon, the warrior and the mentor, the wind and the flame, finally found a peace that had nothing to do with a truce and everything to do with a promise.

Meanwhile, in a distant stratum of the Higher World—the Middle Realm, to be exact—existence bent to a far more primal will. This was the Dragon Domain, and within it lay a pocket world forged in elemental fury. There was no soil, no water, no sky in the mortal sense. The world was a crucible of flame: rivers of magma carved channels through continents of blistering rock, and the air shimmered with incandescent heat.

Through this scorched atmosphere, a creature of legend soared. Its scales were like polished crimson obsidian, each one larger than a shield. Its vast wings, when unfurred, blotted out the glow of the molten landscape below, and its passage through the superheated air created a low thunder that was the worldʼs only wind.

This was the new princess of the red clan, adopted recently, it was said that the purity of her bloodline rivaled even the ancient elder dragons, the backbone of the dragons clan. Many wished to befriend this newly enthroned princess but all tentative had fallen until now.

With a grace that belied its colossal size, the dragon circled a vast, seething lake of magma, its surface a skin of cooling black crust that constantly broke and reformed over the white-hot liquid beneath. With a final, powerful beat of its wings, it tucked them close and plunged headfirst into the lake.

There was no sizzle of extinguishment, only a deep, satisfying submersion, as if a man were sinking into a warm bath. The magma parted for the dragon, welcoming it home. Ignis sank deep, the intense pressure and heat a balm to its ancient form. It settled upon a shelf of solid adamantine at the lakeʼs core, the very heart of its domain, and a low, contented rumble vibrated through the molten rock, a sound that would have leveled mountains in a lesser world.

Here, in the absolute silence and heat, it could meditate on the subtle shifts in the cosmic currents. And recently, a new, dissonant frequency had begun to tickle the edges of its awareness. A flare of potent, unfamiliar mana—a clash of wind and flame that, for a single, brilliant moment, had burned bright enough to be felt even here, in this world of fire.

Its eyes, like pools of molten gold, opened in the deep. The hunt for the source of that anomaly had just begun.

The colossal dragon turned into human form, a petite figure with red hair and heterocromia eyes, gold and blue, the newly enthroned princess was none other than Gracier Alexandra Kael, Alex adopted sister, after passing through the world door, she was thrown into the middle realm coincidentally in the dragon domain.

´´I wonder how my big brother is doing ?ʼˋ she really missed him. She had tried communicating with him using their special telepathy but ultimately failed, she could only give up and build up something here before their meeting as they would obviously meet again, hopefully soon she prayed.
