Death… And Me

Chapter 4428: Nothing Wrong

Completely ignoring the angered Sister Orb, Roan spoke of the real reason he had contacted the two Law Gods.

’This has nothing to do with the Besgol Region,’ he began. ’It seems our circumstances regarding cultivation in the Celestial Plane are more peculiar than normal. Can you tell me at what realm someone should be able to use Intent? From what I can tell, not even the two of you can use it.’

Tobao and Arcis stopped, both taking a moment to think.

Finally, Tobao answered.

—This is something I found in the records of the Besgol Region. According to them, the ability to use Intent should only be available upon reaching the Region God Realm, the realm immediately above the Law God Realm.—

Arcis nodded before adding,

—That’s why everyone was so shocked when your group displayed Intent back then. However, while you unlocked it far earlier than normal, that advantage won’t last forever. Once you eventually reach the Region God Realm, everyone at that level will also be capable of using Intent.—

—In fact, that advantage has already begun diminishing,— Tobao continued calmly. —You’ll notice that Intent Weapons won’t give you nearly the same overwhelming advantage in the Aura God Realm that they did in the Anchor God Realm. As cultivators become stronger, their own strength begins to compensate for that difference. In the end, what truly matters is still one’s Aptitude Color, or aptitude level, if you prefer. The fact that you four supposedly have none is still... quite problematic.—

Roan didn’t seem bothered by those words.

’That’s actually one of the reasons I contacted you.’

His expression remained completely calm. ’After everything we’ve experienced since arriving in the Celestial Plane, I’m fairly certain we don’t actually have an aptitude problem. A more accurate way to put it would be that the aptitude measuring methods used here simply don’t work on the four of us.’

That statement immediately caught both Tobao’s and Arcis’ attention.

Roan continued before either of them could interrupt. ’You probably assumed we reached the Aura God Realm this quickly because we consumed the Godly Predator Crystals.’

He shook his head right after. ’The truth is that the only Godly Predator Crystal we’ve used so far was the one powering Rean’s airplane back in the ruins. Every other Predator Crystal is still with us. All one hundred and thirteen of them.’

Silence.

Neither Tobao nor Arcis spoke for several moments.

That single revelation completely overturned everything they had believed.

Both of them knew perfectly well how valuable Godly Predator Crystals were, especially to cultivators below the Law God Realm. Even so, they had always considered using them at the Anchor God Realm to be an enormous waste.

The reason was simple.

The lower a cultivator’s realm, the less capable they were of refining the tremendous amount of Godly Energy contained inside those crystals. A considerable portion would inevitably be wasted before it could be absorbed.

Naturally, higher-grade Godly Crystals contained much more Godly Energy. That was obvious enough.

However, another factor was equally important.

Purity.

The Godly Energy inside Godly Spawn and Beast Crystals couldn’t even begin to compare with the purity found inside Godly Predator Crystals. Likewise, Predator Crystals themselves were vastly inferior to Godly Horror or Godly Apex Crystals.

That difference in purity was precisely why Tobao and Arcis had assumed the twins’ group must have relied on the Predator Crystals.

Yes, it would be inefficient.

Yes, much of the energy would go to waste.

But even after accounting for those losses, Godly Predator Crystals were still many times more effective than Beast or Spawn Crystals for cultivators supposedly lacking any aptitude.

At least... that was what common sense dictated.

Hearing that the four had advanced all the way to the Aura God Realm without consuming even a single Predator Crystal for cultivation sounded almost absurd.

Arcis was the first to recover.

—Wait... wait a second!—

His eyes widened.

—You’re telling me the four of you reached the Aura God Realm without using even one Predator Crystal... and your foundations are still stable?!—

’Exactly.’ Roan didn’t hesitate. ’Actually, I would even say our foundations are stronger than anyone else’s in the Besgol Region. They were already like that back in our Great Void.’

He paused briefly before finishing. ’That’s why I’m convinced the aptitude tests here simply aren’t capable of measuring us properly. Since they couldn’t recognize whatever makes us different, they displayed no color instead.’

—Amithaba... Amithaba...—

Even Tobao looked genuinely troubled, trying to process everything.

—As unbelievable as that sounds... verifying it would actually be very simple. If we asked you to show us the Godly Predator Crystals, we’d immediately know whether you’re telling the truth.—

He fell silent for a moment before continuing.

—So... most likely, it is true that the aptitude tests cannot measure your group...—

His brows slowly furrowed.

—Perhaps this really has something to do with your Great Void. I checked the historical records long ago. There truly isn’t a single record mentioning the Vinx Great Void before your arrival. Perhaps your Great Void altered either your body, your soul, or both during ascension, creating constitutions completely unknown to us here in the Besgol Region. That would explain why the aptitude tests failed to recognize you.—

Roan nodded immediately.

Ironically, Tobao’s guess was astonishingly close to the truth.

The only difference was that the monk had no idea the true cause was their Echo and the connection they maintained with their original Great Void... not to mention Sister Orb and the Orb System.

Those secrets were things Roan would not reveal, though.

Arcis slowly exhaled.

—This was definitely something you should report ahead of time. Thank you for telling us. For your own safety, keep this hidden from everyone else. Tobao and I will think of explanations as your cultivation continues advancing. Otherwise, people will eventually begin asking questions that neither of us will be able to answer.—

’Very well.’

Roan had expected that response.

The reason he decided to reveal this much wasn’t because he trusted the two Law Gods completely.

Far from it.

Rather, he understood that the four of them would continue advancing at an unbelievable speed.

Right now, outsiders could still convince themselves that the twins’ group had simply relied on Godly Predator Crystals to force their breakthroughs.

But that excuse wouldn’t last forever.

If they continued improving at the same terrifying pace while supposedly possessing no aptitude whatsoever, eventually even the people closest to them would begin questioning how such a thing was possible.

Instead of allowing suspicion to build over time, Roan preferred informing the two most influential cultivators in the Besgol Region first.

So far, Tobao and Arcis had earned a small measure of his trust.

Not much.

Just... a little more than everyone else.

Tobao remained thoughtful for several more seconds before speaking again.

—Friend Roan, you mentioned that this was only one of the reasons you contacted us, didn’t you? Since you also brought up Intent earlier, I assume there is still something else you wish to show us.—

’Correct.’

Roan looked around before walking toward a quiet corner where no one else was nearby.

Once there, he switched the communication from voice to live video.

’There’s also this.’

The moment the image appeared, Tobao and Arcis couldn’t help smiling bitterly.

Sure enough...

Roan was floating calmly several meters above the ground.

There were no treasures supporting him. No flying artifact. No external assistance whatsoever. He was simply flying on his own power.

Considering everything they had learned so far, neither of them doubted that Rean, Celis, and Kentucky could probably do the same.

Arcis’ eyes twitched.

—Just wh—

Before either of them could finish asking the obvious question, Roan interrupted without missing a beat.

’There is nothing wrong with us, period!’
