Death… And Me

Chapter 3235: Can You Guess Where?

”The only doubt then is me, right?” Rifindio spoke after Rean finished the call.

”Your problem doesnʼt matter,” Roan brushed it away without much of a care. ”Your ID has been restricted by the Universe Owner. Even if the Inquisition Hall decided to try to do something with it, they wouldnʼt have the authority. First of all, who would be idiot enough to mess with something related to the Universe Owner in this Mortal World?”

”Well, perhaps someone trying to gain some benefits?” Rifindio wondered. ”It is exactly because my ID has the Universe Ownerʼs restriction blocking my information that the Inquisition Hall might decide to send a message about the possibility of me being alive.”

”But that blockage was only activated after you left that Dimensional Realm where the Abyssal Soul is locked,” Roan still wasnʼt concerned. ”It only happened after you accessed the network for the first time once we escaped that place. Donʼt worry. We donʼt know why the Universe Owner sealed your information, but you can be sure she is well aware that you are alive. We just need to find out the reason.”

Rifindio relaxed a bit. ”Okay.”

Rean didnʼt seem very relieved, though. ”Do you think they truly didnʼt connect these events to us from four hundred years ago? It wasnʼt any secret that you and I used Light and Dark Elements. And during the fight against Duere, we couldnʼt possibly hide it. Considering some of the experts of the Inquisition Hall thought if Rifindio due to his Blood Spear Skill, wouldnʼt that also link him to us? We were dragged into the Black Hole with him, after all.”

Roan pondered a bit and had to admit Reanʼs words made sense. ”If thatʼs the case, then our information is being kept out of the Inquisition Hallʼs network on purpose. Regardless of the reason, this is a good thing for us. We donʼt need the Inquisition Hall suddenly mobilizing all its forces and resources just to find us. Letʼs use this moment where they will be way too busy to do anything else after everything that happened.”

”Youʼre right,” Rean agreed. ”For now, letʼs focus on finding out how we will ascend.”

”Wait!” As Rean and Roan talked about their actions in the past, Zangeshu noticed something too strange. ”Rean- I mean, master, senior Roan, everyone, there is a big problem here.”

Rean and the othersʼ attention turned to Zangeshu. ”What problem?”

Zangeshu quickly spoke. ”When you read Duereʼs memories, you said that the plan was created and put into practice after the Abyssal Soul was caught, right?”

”So?” Everyone asked back, confused.

”It doesnʼt fit!” Zangeshuʼs head was working nonstop. ”Did you forget what Karev said? His brother mentioned that the planet would go through a calamity during the next Divine Werdlem Stone Contest. But that was way before even you got to this planet, let alone Duere or Rifindio!”

Everyone was taken aback, including Roan. ”This disciple of yours is a lot more useful than you, you know?”

Reanʼs mouth twitched. ”What? Want him back? Too late!”

”Hmph!” Roan snorted, then sent his mind back to the topic. ”In any case, he is right. Duere was caught by the Abyssal Soul and was forced to build the Formations. However, Karevʼs brother mentioned the calamity way before everything came to happen.”

He continued. ”That said, there are a few things we need to consider here. First, Karevʼs brother, Marev. All he told Karev was that a calamity would happen during the next Divine Werdlem Stone Contest, and Karev should leave the planet as soon as possible. At no point in time did Marev ever mention what this Calamity was about.”

Rean caught Roanʼs train of thought. ”Which means we canʼt discard the possibility that this so-called Calamity was not the Abyssal Soul, correct?”

”Yes,” Roan nodded. ”However, I donʼt think thatʼs the case. Another possibility, which is the one I believe, is that the Calamity was really regarding the Abyssal Soulʼs plan to escape. However, the Abyssal Soul never shared that knowledge with Duere. That means the Abyssal Soul had another ally or someone he was controlling on this planet before we arrived here.”

Everyone went silent.

”Was it one of those leaders who was allied with the Abyssal Soul?” Kentucky wondered. Back when Rifindio was dragged into the black hole with Rean, the other three leaders of the Inquisition Hall of Closal Planet were caught as well. ”If that was the case, then the guy is already dead. Perhaps Duere just so happened to be the second person the Abyssal Soul took control over? First of all, was this ally really someone from Closal Planet? It could have been someone from any of the other planets.”

”This guy was most likely from Closal. Closal was the pivotal part of the plan,” Roan added. ”Closal was the last planet, and ultimately the one planet to be sacrificed as the last link in the formations that would free the Abyssal Soul. But you said something correctly. If this ally was one of those three leaders... or perhaps even those three together, they died in the black hole.” It was then that Rifindio remembered something. ”I see... now it makes sense...” ”What?” Everyone turned to him.

Rifindioʼs memory went back to when he was trying to catch the twins. ”Those three leaders, Obsefio, Poclidis, and Xutrin, asked something weird from me during my investigation about you. They requested my help establishing a link formation in the Solar System for the Werdlem Network between the planets. They would use some Divine Realm runes I had with me in the Spaceship.”

”Anyway, those three mentioned it wouldnʼt take long to make, but they would need permission from someone from above to use those runes. This is the Mortal World, after all. Once the investigation was over, they would bring me to where the link would be established so I could give my approval. That was something that they would usually ask the Divine Realm visitors, but since I was already there, they asked me instead. I didnʼt mind since they put a lot of effort into helping me with the investigation, so I just considered it as repaying the favor.”

Rifindio looked at the twins and Kentucky. ”Can you guess where that link was going to be established?”

No one there was an idiot. ”Somewhere near the Dimensional Realm where the Abyssal Soul was trapped.”
