Death… And Me

3046  Well...

Roan watched all of that. ʼJust knock him down and throw him back to the area Sister Orb changed to be safe. You are wasting too much time already.ʼ

Rean was indeed considering that idea. He took a look inside, and sure enough, there wasnʼt anything capable of catching his attention. Some Spirit Stones, no weapons, a few common materials of the sea, etc... If something looked different there, it was the dead fish Yuan probably used to feed himself. Even though he didnʼt need it, he was a predator Demon Beast, so old habits die hard.

Rean then threw the Spatial Ring back at Yuan. ”There isnʼt anything in there useful. You will have to do better than that.”

”This...” Yuan knew he wasnʼt rich, but he still had a good amount of Spirit Stones he had been saving. But then again, compared to the fortune Rean and Roan had, it truly wasnʼt much. ”What can I do to make you accept me?”

Rean pondered a bit, wondering if Yuan could be used for something else. Itʼs just that a Stage Six Demon Beast truly didnʼt seem any good. Still, curiosity piqued Rean, so he decide to at least ask. ”How about you tell me what exactly it is that you need to do? You said that you must come out of the Spiritual Canyon, and you canʼt wait ten years. Why?”

Yuan narrowed his eyes. He truly didnʼt want to talk about it.

Seeing that, Rean shrugged and turned around, preparing to leave. ”Well, thatʼs your problem, not mine. Farewell. Laica, Tubutu, Lesyu, letʼs go.”

”Wait, wait, wait!” Yuan finally gave up. ”Iʼll tell you. Just wait a moment, please.”

Rean stopped, looking back at him with a smile. ”Should have just given up from the start. Go ahead, say it.”

Yuan sighed and scratched the back of his head, feeling helpless. ”I will warn you, this is very, very, very cliche. There is truly nothing amusing or phenomenal in this story. If anything, I think I will disappoint you all.”

”Iʼll be the one to decide that,” Rean only got more curious, though. Laica and the others even more so.

”Well... There is this one Ice Scaled Shark called Tana that I like, daughter of the Saramina Sea Demon Palace Leader... She-”

”You can come,” Rean stopped him right there and then.

”Eh?” Yuan didnʼt even have time to tell his story. He wasnʼt the only one surprised. Laica and the other two also didnʼt understand why Rean made that decision so fast. It was obviously some run-of-the-mill love story or whatever. Was it really worth it?

Rean put his arm around Yuanʼs shoulders and laughed. ”Love, bro! Love! Is there anything in this Universe more important than love? NO! There is absolutely not! And you are from a Demon Beast race from the very rock bottom, which makes it even more interesting. Who doesnʼt like a good, poor guy aiming for the rich girl story?”

Roan knew the truth, though. ʼYou are just trying to have some fun at this guyʼs cost, arenʼt you? There is no way this shit story caught your attention.ʼ

Rean agreed shamelessly. ʼSo what? It seems fun. Besides, Iʼm just helping him come out of here. Once we are out, we will go our own ways, and thatʼs gonna be all. We will most likely never see each other ever again. It is not like it will change our plans in any meaningful way, right?ʼ

*Pin!*

[It could be said one of the reasons Yuan managed to reach Level Six was because of Tana, who piqued him on a whim during her travels. He was only Stage Four by then. Over the years, he grew more attached to her, and when he gained his sentience at Stage Six, that fondness quickly changed into love. Too bad the Ice Scaled Shark still only sees him as her little pet. Itʼs your time to change his destiny and help him show her he is the Male Shark she needs.]

[New Quest Available: Help Yuan conquer his love.]

[Reward: 10 Celestial Points.]

[Failure Penalty: 20 Celestial Points.]

[Time: One year.]

Reanʼs mouth twitched when he heard all the descriptions of the system. Besides, he didnʼt even need to see it. He already could imagine just how terrifying Roanʼs expression must be at the moment. ʼH-hey! Look! I was right to help him. We can gain another 10 Celestial Points!ʼ

ʼYOU FUCKING ASS!ʼ Roan shouted through their connection. He definitely, absolutely, 100% didnʼt want to have anything to do with this shit! They had just earned 20 Celestial Points, and they might lose it now. What about the rest of their plans? They intended to go to the World Splitting Sect to learn more about Diliyʼs Sword Intent. Yet, they will be forced to go somewhere else entirely.

ʼNo! Iʼm not going to the fucking sea to resolve your problems,ʼ Roan immediately gave up that idea. ʼIʼm going to the World Splitting Sect and study that guyʼs Sword Intent. You will take care of this shit yourself.ʼ

ʼWill that be a good idea?ʼ Rean wondered. ʼDiliy wanted me to go, after all.ʼ

ʼHmph!ʼ Roan snorted. ʼHe wanted you for your ability with swords. Who do you think taught you how to use it?ʼ

ʼWell... thatʼs true...ʼ Rean could only agree. Nonetheless, Rean got confused about something else. ʼDonʼt you think this to be a little weird? Why would the system care about the someoneʼs love story at all? From a system made to save a Universe to a system meddling with someoneʼs love affairs. Thatʼs doesnʼt make any sense. Sister Orb, any clues?ʼ

[None at all,] she answered. [But Iʼm definitely enjoying it!]

Alright, asking Sister Orb was one of the most idiotic things Rean ever did in his life.

Rean finally returned his attention to Yuan. ”Errr... Ahem! You know what, your determination conquered my heart as well. I will go to the Saramina Sea Demon Palace to help you conquer your girl. How about that?”

Yuan felt like he heard something ridiculous. ”You... will? But... the Saramina Sea Demon Palace only accepts Sea Demon Beasts...”

Reanʼs mouth twitched. ”Well... fuck!”

And as always, any Golden Tickets and Stones are welcome. ;)
