Death… And Me

Chapter 1272 - Danger

Rean and Roan looked behind and saw a small group of five people. All of them were in the Saint Realm, just like the twins. However, Roan didnʼt really want anything to do with them. ”All of you are in the Saint Realm, so you can reach the next city or whatever on your own. Why would you ask for othersʼ help?”

The other group looked at each other before saying in response, ”Could it be that you donʼt know about the blind areas?”

”Blind areas?” That was the first time that Rean and Roan heard about such a thing. ”What are those?”

Hearing that, one guy in the group came out to explain. ”First, let me introduce myself. Iʼm Dilan Tuto. I just so happen to be someone from a country on the border between Huring and Lanqueas. Anyway, the blind areas are the only places where you can traverse the Continental Barriers without being caught by the powers controlling those continents.”

Dilan continued, ”As you know, the Continental Barrier is made of energy. In a few places, excess energy starts to escape, creating an environment where tracking skills become useless. Try to use your Divine Sense. Although it can still spread as far as you always do, you wonʼt be able to make out whatʼs in there.”

Rean and Roan immediately tried that, and sure enough, their Divine Senses did spread normally. However, the images that came into their minds were all blurry and made no sense. ”Is that a problem?”

Dilan nodded, telling them, ”Yes. Because we canʼt spread our Divine Senses, we canʼt tell what lies ahead. The blind areas, because of the chaotic energy, have become the acting area of bounty hunters. Donʼt forget, we entered this place illegally. They know they can get a very good payment if we, the smuggled, are delivered to the authorities. Besides, thereʼs one other big reason why they do this.”

Rean and Roan understood. ”The price necessary to pay the smugglers for the travel. Since we can pay such a high amount of Divine Stones to get to the other side, itʼs obvious that we might be carrying a lot more with us as well. Weʼre perfect targets for robbing.”

Dilan was happy that the twins caught on so fast. ”Thatʼs correct. So, what do you think? Would you like to join us until we leave this blind area? If we head in the opposite direction of the barrier, it shouldnʼt take more than a week or so to leave the blind area. Once that happens, we will be fine.”

Rean and Roan werenʼt that much concerned about it, though. First, they had Reanʼs Light and Divine Sense bending skill. Second, they had Kentucky, so they could simply fly while using Reanʼs skill at the same time. It would be very unlikely that anyone would even notice their presence. Even if they somehow saw through Reanʼs concealment skill, if they werenʼt in the Transition Realm, they wouldnʼt be able to catch them in the skies. With that said, it was better if they traveled alone.

However, Roan asked something else. ”Since you were from somewhere close to the border, would you be able to point in the map where we are at the moment?”

Dilan nodded, saying, ”But of course!”

Roan then threw the jade slip map to Dilan. ”Then mark it on the map for me to see.”

Dilan narrowed his eyes, asking Roan, ”What will you do after I mark it? Are you planning to leave on your own?”

Roan didnʼt think twice before nodding. ”Yes. You guys will only hold us back.”

Rean could not help but facepalm after hearing that. Couldnʼt Roan tell that Dilan would never give him our location if he worded it like that?

Sure enough, let alone Dilan, even the four beside him showed a dark expression when Roan talked about them like that.

”You are just an Initial Stage Saint.”

”Where the hell did you even get that confidence of yours from?”

”Forget that guy, Dilan. Letʼs leave this place.”

Dilan threw the jade slip back to Roan soon after, saying, ”Go find your location yourself. Weʼre leaving.”

Dilan turned around and was just about to leave when suddenly, Rean called his attention. ”Wait! Itʼll save us a lot of time if you at least show where we are at the moment. Can you sell the information at least?”

Dilan looked back at Rean and snorted. ”Hmph! Sure! 100 Rank Two Divine Stones!”

That was an exorbitant price that absolutely wasnʼt worth it. Dilan just said that to annoy the twins. After all, they couldnʼt attack each other due to the Soul Binding Contract.

”Great! Here you go.” Rean then threw 100 Rank Two Divine Stones to Dilan without a care for the world.

”This...” Dilan and his group were taken aback. Didnʼt he know how hard it was to get Rank Two Divine Stones?

But even though they were shocked, Rean looked at Dilan with a puzzled expression. ”What is it? Arenʼt you going to show us our location? Here, you can use my jade slip map.” He then threw another jade slip at Dilan.

Dilan pondered if he should just take the Divine Stones and ignore Rean. Or perhaps he should point out the wrong location on the map. However, neither of the two options were available. The contract was very broad due to its simple description. It only said that each side canʼt cause harm to the other. If he pointed out the wrong location, he would be harming Rean and Roan in a certain way. He wasnʼt sure if the contract would activate because of that or not. At the very least, it wasnʼt worth risking his life since he got the payment. ”Hmph! You should thank Timoteo for his contract.” He then used his Divine Sense to show where Rean and Roan were on the map before throwing it back to the twins.

Naturally, Rean knew that he couldnʼt lie about it because of the contract. ”Thank you. Also, sorry for this brother of mine. He has always been like that, so it isnʼt anything personal.”

”Whatever.” Dilan and his group then finally decided to leave as the other groups were gone already.

Rean then looked at Roan and told him, ”See? It wasnʼt so hard.”

Roan ignored him before reaching for the Soul Gem Dimensional Realm. He wanted to take Kentucky out so that they could fly away already. However... their access was denied. That could only mean one thing.

ʼDanger!ʼ
