Daddy Always Gets Jealous

She looked at Qin Shaojin. ”Why is nobody answering the phone?”

Qin Shaojin looked at Wen Nuan, paused for a few seconds, then picked up his phone and called Qin Moting. No one answered either.

Could Fourth Aunt be in labor?

He then called Xu Yuan, and the call was hung up directly.

Wen Nuan looked at Qin Shaojin, suddenly excited. ”Could Aunt be giving birth?”

Qin Shaojin nodded. ”Very likely.”

Wen Nuan hurriedly called Qin Huan.

Qin Huan didn’t know anything.

She had still been fine when they spoke on the phone this morning, no signs at all—why would it suddenly start now?

After hanging up, she didn’t call again. She looked at Huo Jinnan. ”Call Shen Mubai and ask him, see if my mom has already gone to the hospital.”

Huo Jinnan frowned slightly when he heard that, put Xiaoqi to the side, picked up his phone and called Shen Mubai. No one answered.

He looked at Qin Huan. ”Let’s go to the hospital.”

Qin Huan was completely unprepared and hurriedly started getting dressed. ”Okay, hurry.”

Huo Jinnan looked toward the regiment commander. ”Go call Huo Minhan.”

The regiment commander barked a ”woof” and ran toward the door.

Huo Jinnan looked at Xiaoliao and Xiaoqi.

The little guy quickly came back with the regiment commander. Seeing them packing up to go out, he pressed his little lips together. ”You’re going out?”

Huo Jinnan lowered his head to look at the little guy. ”Keep an eye on Xiaoliao and Xiaoqi.”

The little guy said, ”Okay.”

He looked at Xiaoliao. ”Come here.”

Xiaoliao moved close to the little guy. ”Brother.”

The little guy looked at Xiaoliao. ”Let’s keep Xiaoqi company and play together, okay?”

Xiaoliao looked at Xiaoqi. ”Okay.”

The little guy dragged over the building blocks, and the three of them sat there and started stacking them.

Huo Jinnan finished getting ready and took Qin Huan downstairs. Seeing the old man, he said, ”Grandpa, please watch Xiaoliao and Xiaoqi. We might be back late.”

Qin Huan looked at Aunt Rong. ”Aunt Rong, make the same postpartum meals you made for me and Ye Bai before, prepare a portion first. In a bit, we might have Uncle Lu take it over.”

The old man and Aunt Rong immediately understood that Huanhuan’s mother was about to give birth.

He looked at Qin Huan. ”Huanhuan, don’t worry and go. I’ll watch the three kids at home. If you need anything, just call.”

Qin Huan looked at the old man. ”Got it, Grandpa, we’re heading out first.”

...

Half an hour later, Qin Huan and Huo Jinnan arrived outside the delivery room at Muhe Hospital. The Qin Family’s old master and old madam had just gotten there too. Wen Nuan and Qin Shaojin were there, and Wen Hua and Bi Fu had also come.

The nurse looked at them. ”Fourth Master Qin is inside as well. He’s been in there an hour now. Don’t worry.”

Qin Huan, ”...”

How could she not worry! Mom was older after all, already over forty, considered an advanced maternal age. Once she entered the delivery room, it meant they were going for a natural birth.

Thinking there was still the possibility of switching from natural to C-section, her heart twisted into a knot.

Wen Hua and Bi Fu were worried too; the Qin Family’s old master and old madam were even more anxious.

The old madam kept rubbing the jade Buddha hanging around her neck, murmuring prayers under her breath.

The old master glanced over and silently prayed in his heart as well.

Time passed minute by minute like that, every second tugging at everyone’s hearts.

Qin Huan grew paler and paler, standing there, leaning against Huo Jinnan, clutching his hand tightly.

Huo Jinnan glanced at Qin Huan, and comforted her in a low voice. ”Don’t worry. I asked Shen Mubai before—her prenatal checkups have all been good, her diet’s been well controlled, the baby isn’t big. It’ll come out quickly with a natural birth.”

As soon as he finished speaking, a baby’s cry sounded from the delivery room—muffled yet especially loud!
