Daddy Always Gets Jealous

”Ah, no, don’t!”

Che Huan jolted awake, only to find herself sitting in a taxi, drenched in a cold sweat.

”Miss, we have arrived.”

The taxi driver had reminded her several times and was startled by her sudden shout. Seeing Che Huan’s sweaty face, he couldn’t help but ask one more question, ”Miss, are you alright?”

”I’m fine, thank you,” Che Huan shook her head, paid quickly, and got out of the car, barely able to catch her breath. It was just a nightmare, she thought, one she couldn’t avoid, yet it had haunted her for five whole years.

In her dreams, she had never seen the face of that person clearly.

A gust of cold wind blew around her, penetrating the collar of her coat and bringing her back to her senses. Che Huan looked up at the two gilded words ”Yunshang” before entering the club and scrutinized her surroundings—

Silk hand-woven carpets, champagne-gold crystal chandeliers, white palace-style corridors, and expensive European wall paintings...

This place exuded luxury, a world apart from her usual life, which made her think that this meeting organized by Manager Gu must be with no ordinary individual.

When she reported to the private room, to her surprise, the lobby manager personally led her there. On the way, they came across a man reeking of alcohol. Spotting Che Huan, he grabbed her wrist and pulled her toward him, ”A new girl? I want her for tonight.”

The manager immediately spoke up, ”Mr. Yu, you’re drunk. This lady is with Mr. Huo.”

Mr. Huo?

The tipsy man only hesitated for a few seconds before releasing Che Huan very quickly, his drunkenness seeming to dissipate by seventy to eighty percent. He gave Che Huan a meaningful look, a touch of wariness in his eyes, and quickly left.

Che Huan kept silent, shocked. She knew that coming here required not just money but also a distinguished status!

Seeing the lavish appearance of the man they had just encountered, she could only assume that this Mr. Huo must be a figure with the power to turn the sky and the earth at will. Otherwise, how could merely mentioning his name provoke such dread in people?

If that was the case, why had Gu Yunqing called her here?

”Miss Che, this way, please...” The manager looked at Che Huan, unsure of the status of the woman before him. She was new to him, but as a guest of Mr. Huo, no one dared to slight her!

Coming back to her senses, Che Huan followed the manager’s steps.

She was led to private room number one, ”This is it, Miss Che. You can go in.”

Che Huan pushed the door open and saw a group of people seated on a black sofa building a ”Great Wall” with mahjong tiles. She was surprised not to see Manager Gu and frowned, wondering if she had gone to the wrong room, as they had definitely mentioned room number one.

Hearing someone enter, Yu Zimu turned his head and spoke in a displeased tone, ”Get out, we don’t need service here!”

Then, he turned back to Huo Jinnan, ”Jinnan, it’s your turn.”

Right at that moment, the dog which had been quietly crouched next to Huo Jinnan suddenly started barking towards Che Huan.

Huo Jinnan, who hadn’t even bothered to lift his eyelids until now, knitted his brows slightly. With the cigarette between his long fingers, he held back the dog that wanted to pounce, and looked up in Che Huan’s direction. He then casually picked a tile without looking and threw it away.

Yu Zimu let out a ”Yo” sound, gleefully knocking down his tiles, ”Mahjong!”

He took a drag from the cigarette in his mouth, collecting chips while glancing at Shen You and Qin Shaonan, ”It’s not often that Jinnan lets his guard down. Today, he really let me win, helping me recoup some past losses.”

Noticing Huo Jinnan’s expression, Yu Zimu assumed that Jinnan was unhappy and looked back at Che Huan, ”Why haven’t you left...”

The word ”go” reached his lips but got stuck in his throat, leaving him unable to speak for a long time.
