Cursed Immortality

Chapter 1288: The Stolen Sacrifice (3)

Jacob knew that harvesting the Faith power was an absurd idea, especially with his current realm of power, and this was also completely outside his previous fields of research. Yet that was precisely what made it interesting.

‘If faith can be treated as a form of power…’ Jacob’s eyes became increasingly fervent, ‘Then perhaps it can also be processed. But the thing is, Faith is a form of power to begin with!’

The Life Bane Wheel suddenly trembled, and a faint golden-black thread became trapped between the black and purple sections.

Jacob immediately stopped his thoughts as he didn’t dare experiment recklessly. The source of this faith was a sealed God. If he carelessly disturbed the connection, he might expose himself before he understood the situation.

However, since the Undead Skyfall was so weak and sealed right now, this was also a massive opportunity!

‘Not yet.’ Jacob suppressed his excitement as he determined, ‘I need to understand its structure first.’

He immediately redirected his attention toward the incoming sacrificial energy.

“Life Devour!”

The black section brightened, and the massive flow was swallowed into the Wheel. At the same time, Spectral Despair began separating everything that didn’t belong to pure vitality.

Death was separated from life, negative energy was isolated, and soul fragments were filtered while the fragments of laws were compressed into individual streams. Lastly, Undead Authority was separated and preserved.

Finally, Faith!

Jacob stared at the tiny golden-black strands, and they were neither destroyed nor absorbed, and they remained intact. The Wheel was simply holding them.

Jacob’s eyes changed as he noticed something, ‘It’s preserving the faith automatically!’

That was unexpected, but he didn’t pause and immediately examined the phenomenon more carefully.

It didn’t take long for Jacob to comprehend that the Life Bane Wheel wasn’t consciously protecting the faith; rather, because Jacob had already given the Wheel the ability to distinguish different forms of power, it had automatically recognized that faith was fundamentally different from vitality.

Therefore, it didn’t destroy it; instead, it separated it, stored it, and began analyzing it like it had a mind of its own.

Jacob’s eyes flashed as he knew an ability created through the comprehension of an Immortal Chapter of Cursed Immortality can never be simple.

‘Since the Life Bane Wheel has evolved into a law ability which can grow, could it be it had also developed an instinct to evolve on its own? And right now, this is exactly how the Wheel evolves!’

Jacob was astounded when the realization struck him because he had designed the Life Bane Wheel not just as a collection of abilities but as a framework. Like a system that could assimilate different principles into itself.

As long as Jacob understood the fundamental nature of something, he could potentially turn that understanding into another aspect.

His gaze slowly moved toward the fourth empty portion of the wheel, and there was no fourth section yet. But after finding out about the Faith power and how the Life Bane Wheel was reacting to it, Jacob could finally imagine another one.

‘If I can create an aspect that treats faith like vitality…’ His eyes burned as he thought, ‘Then I could potentially devour faith itself.’

That thought was even more dangerous than stealing vitality, as vitality could kill someone, but faith could affect gods. Moreover, a God could lose believers, lose authority, weaken, and if someone could steal faith directly, the sheer implications of it were terrifying.

‘I can’t get carried away.’ Jacob immediately suppressed the thought.

He knew better than anyone that having an idea didn’t mean he could execute it. After all, he already had a Law God, Whiteness in the Infinite Space, and he had even scratched the surface of his Law God power.

For now, he only had an observation, nothing more. So, Jacob focused on the present.

“Life Injection!”

The next instant, a white section of the Life Bane Wheel illuminated, and the purified vitality immediately began flowing toward it.

The Wheel trembled violently as a portion of the vitality condensed into crystalline droplets, and another portion became pure energy.

Jacob didn’t absorb it immediately; instead, stored it within the Life Bane Wheel itself, which was also a kind of new aspect of it, but it was limited. After all, he wasn’t trying to replenish his own vitality, but stealing the sacrifice.

The Wheel continued rotating and refined streams of sacrificial energy. As time passed, he had refined one hundred streams…then one thousand…. ten thousand….

The amount of sacrificial energy flowing through the passage was simply too enormous. Even Jacob’s expression gradually became solemn.

‘This vitality is too dense. I won’t be able to store it into the Life Injection anymore!’

His Eyes of Judge continued examining it as the vitality contained within this ritual wasn’t comparable to the vitality of ordinary Legendary Kings. It had accumulated through countless sacrifices. Even after being filtered by the Life Bane Wheel, the remaining pure vitality was astonishingly immense.

Jacob suddenly had another thought, ‘If I absorb all of this directly…’

He paused as his gaze became contemplative.

“Nyx! Can you convert this pure vitality into my lifespan?” He instantly asked Nyx.

Nyx was already busy devouring the Quasi-Myths’ dreamscape realms and converting them into his lifespan, but it didn’t mean she wasn’t paying attention to what Jacob had been doing.

She instantly replied with a hint of excitement, “As long as you can convert this vitality into pure soul vitality, I can redirect it into your soul! It’ll be the same as me increasing your lifespan through the Nightmare Conqueror Seeds! So yes!”

Jacob’s eyes flickered with a hint of ecstasy while he was slightly depressed about why he never thought about this before. Nonetheless, Jacob didn’t dwell on this and instantly began to work.

Previously, Jacob had always been cautious about wasting such vitality, so he had chanced to experiment with it. But this amount was simply too much.

Jacob’s eyes flickered, ‘My lifespan is increasing at a steady pace, but this is still far from enough compared to the usage demanded by the damn book!’

Jacob didn’t hesitate any longer as he already had a general direction in his mind, ‘If Spectral Despair can filter different kinds of energies, then I don’t believe Life Injection can’t convert different vitalities into anything I desire!’
