2391 The Fluttering Heart

Soft Feather gracefully hopped off the bed and retrieved a large suitcase she had prepared in advance from under the bed. She waved and said, “Don’t worry, I won’t breathe a word of this to Senior Song!”

If what The Celestial Thearch was waiting for didn’t pass by Spirit Butterfly Island, she would discreetly inform Song Shuhang and merrily engage in some mischief with him. After all, she was planning to slip away and explore the world to seek adventure in distant places. She didn’t want to leave and end up causing trouble nearby with Senior Song.

A faint smile graced the corners of Celestial Thearch’s lips. She reached out and handed Soft Feather a small box. “This is the treasure I used to exchange for the eye drops with Senior Song. Would you like to open it and take a look? If you like it, you can take a small commission from it.”

Soft Feather was speechless.

Why did she have to mimic my way of addressing others?

And why does she keep encouraging me to take a commission?

She extended her hand to accept the small box and stowed it in her size-reducing purse. “Alright, I’ll go find Senior Song and ask him to send the eye drops to Spirit Butterfly Island in a few days. Please make sure to sign for them.”

“No problem, I’ll stay here for seven days on your behalf. Just remember to return on time. I’ll leave exactly seven days from now, not a minute later,” The Celestial Thearch responded while skillfully grabbing snacks from the table and enjoying them.

The snacks on Spirit Butterfly Island were all homemade delicacies, and she liked them very much. Perhaps it could be said that these snacks were tailored to Soft Feather’s taste, and her ghostly spirit body also favored this flavor.

The longer one inhabited the body of a ghostly spirit, the more they would be influenced. It was an inevitable aspect.

“I’ll be back on time. Also, in a little while, Abba will send Little Dian over. Xiaodian is here to assist Senior Song in delivering the goods. When the time comes, please ask Senior Song to provide you with the port address, and let Xiaodian follow the network cable to find him,” Soft Feather cautioned.

“I understand. Don’t worry,” The Celestial Thearch replied. She didn’t resemble the ruler of the ancient Heavenly City at all in her current demeanor.

“Then, I’ll make my escape. Be careful not to reveal your true identity,” Soft Feather placed the large suitcase into her size-reducing purse, then retrieved a sheet similar to the one used by the Almighty Merchant. She draped it over her body to conceal her aura.

Afterwards, she transformed into a small, colorful butterfly.

As an adventurous young girl with a strong desire to roam the world, Soft Feather had dozens of plans for quietly leaving Spirit Butterfly Island. From the current situation, the success rate of these plans was quite high—though it was also possible that Sage Monarch Spirit Butterfly secretly condoned them.

Now that Soft Feather had reached the Fifth Stage Realm, she had even more methods to escape from home. Today, she planned to use the ‘spatial escape’ technique to depart.

“Please convey my regards to Senior Song,” the Celestial Thearch got up and opened the window for Soft Feather.

Transformed into a colorful butterfly, Soft Feather tapped her antennae and flew out of the window.

The Celestial Thearch leaned against the windowsill and casually asked, “Is the first person you want to find after leaving Spirit Butterfly Island Senior Song?”

“Because Senior Song’s place is more enjoyable,” Soft Feather replied before flapping her wings to fly further away.

The Celestial Thearch rested her chin on her hand and watched Soft Feather depart.

After the butterfly disappeared, the Celestial Thearch extended her hand and flipped her finger. A lotus projection materialized between her fingers.

She lowered her head and gazed at the lotus projection while lost in thought.

After a while, she smiled and sent a bit of energy to Song Shuhang with the caption, “Senior Song, this is today’s bit of energy~~”

Sage Monarch Spirit Butterfly was leading a fairy crackling with electric arcs towards the pavilion where Soft Feather was cultivating.

However, halfway there, Sage Monarch Spirit Butterfly suddenly halted and looked to the east.

The Invisible Sensing Barrier he had secretly set up had been triggered.

Was his daughter secretly sneaking out again?

“Didn’t she just ask me to bring Xiaodian to her? Why does she suddenly want to run away from home?” Sage Monarch Spirit Butterfly was puzzled.

Just as he was pondering, Soft Feather’s voice came from not far away.

In a small herb garden around the corner, Soft Feather was crouched down while tending to a few spirit plants.

Eh? Soft Feather didn’t leave?

Sage Monarch Spirit Butterfly’s expression remained unchanged. He approached Soft Feather and said with a smile, “I brought you Xiaodian. What are you planting?”

“I noticed that these spirit plants were a bit injured, so I wanted to take care of them again,” Soft Feather clapped her hands and stood up. She looked at the fairy crackling with electric arcs and giggled, “Thank you, Abba, for lending me Xiaodian.”

Lord Spirit Butterfly smiled and handed Xiaodian to his daughter.

Throughout, Sage Monarch Spirit Butterfly maintained his composure. But in truth, every time Soft Feather addressed him as ‘Abba,’ he experienced an inexplicable sense of palpitation.

Vaguely, he felt that with each time Soft Feather called him ‘Abba,’ his lifespan was being shortened.

Nevertheless, he was certain that Soft Feather was his daughter.

He could never be mistaken about that.

“Cultivate diligently these next few days. As long as you don’t slack off, I’ll take you to the Spirit River Su Clan’s annual gathering in a few days,” Sage Monarch Spirit Butterfly said softly.

“I’ve been diligently cultivating these past few days,” Soft Feather replied while sticking out her tongue.

Seeing that his daughter was as adorable as ever, Sage Monarch Spirit Butterfly felt much more at ease.

“Since you’re so confident, I’ll assess your cultivation progress tomorrow. If you meet my expectations, I’ll allow you to stay a few more days after the Spirit River Su Clan’s gathering,” Sage Monarch Spirit Butterfly stated while placing his hands behind his back and maintaining his fatherly dignity.

“Thank you, Abba. I’ll definitely exceed your expectations,” Soft Feather confidently declared.

Sage Monarch Spirit Butterfly nodded. After leaving Xiaodian behind, he turned and walked away with composure.

Something didn’t seem right today. If Soft Feather continued to address him as ‘Abba’ a few more times, he might need to share a ‘quick-acting heart-saving pill’ with Fellow Daoist Yellow Mountain.

The Celestial Thearch’s lips curled into a faint smile. She reached out and lightly tapped Xiaodian on her shoulder. “Let’s go,” she said. “I’ll send you to Senior Song.”

Sending Xiaodian to Senior Song was a straightforward process.

Step one: Open a small portal.

Step two: Place Little Electric inside.

Step three: Close the portal.

At China, Jiangnan College Town, Medicine Master’s Building, Song Shuhang’s primordial spirit had returned. He was handling a large delivery—a substantial shipment Senior Yellow Mountain had sent him a few days ago.

It contained puppet clones for communication.

Suddenly, a portal opened beside him.

A panicked elf crackling with lightning was thrust into his arms.

Pa pa pa~

Lightning crackled.

A potent electric current surged through the startled elf’s body and caused the tiny hairs on Song Shuhang’s body to stand on end. Unfortunately, the electric current was too weak to even singe the little hairs.
