Cultivating Disciples to Breakthrough

Chapter 1812: Hidden Amidst the Foliage

”Huh?” As the discussion on how such wide spanning ruins had suddenly emerged seemingly out of the blue came to an end, one of the formation masters who was walking beside Chu Yang at the front of the group suddenly seemed to freeze for a moment before pointing towards something emerging behind the trees up ahead. ”There is something up ahead! Looks like... A building?”

”A building?” Hearing what his companion said, Chu Yang’s gaze curiously followed the direction that the older man was pointing. Soon enough spotting what looked like a shattered stone wall barely visible through the thick foliage.

Although it was far from being considered a building, it was something different from what they had encountered so far during their journey and not only warranted closer investigation, but also cation.

After all, they were all aware that the most dangerous part of the ancient ruins was the ruins themselves, something that had become abundantly clear from the countless wandering cultivators they had seen perish the second they were forced into the ancient pagoda. In a sense, while the forest was dangerous, they had been able to remain safe for hours by avoiding the territories of the more powerful demon beasts.

Continuing along this path that had already been proven safe while waiting for his master to show up seemed like the obvious choice to Chu Yang...

”I think we should avoid it, we don’t need any unnecessary risks, our goal is to remain out of trouble and survive. Not search the ancient ruins for treasures.”

And therefore, he ultimately decided to directly voice his opposition to going anywhere near those ancient ruins. Not wanting to take any unnecessary risk.

”Avoid it...?” Hearing Chu Yang’s response, the old man standing beside him could not help frowning as a thoughtful look appeared on his wrinkled face. ”Hm... If the stronger demon beasts remain in hiding due to the presence of that flying ship, it is indeed safer for us to continue moving through the forest, but... If the stronger demon beasts become active again, it might be best for us to seek refuge inside an ancient ruin.”

”That-”

”Don’t worry too much about walking into a trap, the seven of us are after all skilled formation masters. If we move slowly and examine our path properly before moving forward, even a Saint Grade Formation will have a difficult time escaping out eyes. Unless it happens to be a concealment formation.”

”I... I understand...”

Knowing that the old man was correct, Chu Yang could only nod his head in agreement with the old man.

Even if he might not like the idea of them venturing inside the ancient ruins, there was nothing much he could do about it if those stronger demon beasts started to become active again. After all, the main reason for their smooth journey so far was because the stronger demon beasts at the Dao Seed Realm had all hidden away out of fear of the flying ship.

If they happened to emerge again, it would be impossible for them to continue smoothly moving through the forest like they had done so far. In which case, it might be better to try and find an ancient ruin they could hide away insi-

RUUUUMBLE-!

”Huh!?”

”Aaah!?”

Thump~!

Not having the chance to finish, Chu Yang and the group of formation masters all found themselves being shaken around violently by what sounded like a loud explosion in the distance, the weakest among them even falling flat on his face due to the sudden shaking.

”W-What was that?” Soon enough lifting his face off the ground to ask the question that was now on everyone’s mind.

Roooar-!

And as if to answer his question, a loud roar followed by countless other bestial roars echoed out all around them.

”Looks like something might have happened to the flying ship... And from the looks of things, I doubt it was the owner returning to take it away.”

”This...” Feeling the gaze of all seven formation masters focusing on him, Chu Yang could not help smiling somewhat awkwardly in response as he understood what their gaze meant.

He had just been talking about not entering the ancient ruins unless something catastrophic happened that caused the stronger demon beasts lurking in the forest to become active again and it happened the next second.

”I understand, we will go into the ruins, but we can’t rush things. First make sure we aren’t walking into some kind of deadly formation.”

”Hehe, of course!” Responding almost immediately, the old man who had been standing beside him immediately rushed forward filled with excitement that was rather unnatural, causing Chu Yang to become somewhat suspicious about the intention of this old man.

Huh? That is...

[Eastern Formation Record Hall]

But that suspicion disappeared completely the second he saw the barely readable words engraved into the stones that had remained hidden beneath the foliage from his point of view before the old man had rushed forward and knocked the few leaves blocking his view to the side.

The language used was far from the language used throughout the continent in the present day and seemed to be a mixture of the language in use and something more ancient, though it was still readable without any knowledge of the ancient language it was connected to.

As for the purpose of this so-called record hall? It was obviously to store information on all kinds of formations, something that was invaluable to these wandering cultivators who had little access to information.

”This... A record hall!”

”Not just any record hall, but one storing information on all kinds of ancient formations!”

”A treasure! This might be able to help me overcome my bottleneck!”

Not too different from the old man who had rushed ahead first, the rest of the formation masters soon became similarly excited after realizing what kind of ancient building they had stumbled upon, as they soon rushed forward as well to catch up with the old man.

Seeing this, Chu Yang did feel worried that they would throw cation to the side out of a desire for the knowledge that might be hidden inside this ancient building... But, when he caught up with the formation masters, he was relived to discover that after moving past the first few pieces of rubble, they were meticulously scouring through their surroundings for any sign of traps while slowly moving forward towards a small three tiered pagoda that had long since been overgrown and reclaimed by the forest around it.
