Corpse Burier: I Can Nourish Corpse

Chapter 627: Chapter 309: Lu Family Spy, Night Assault on Qi Mountain [Revised]

”There were still people who fled from the western part of the West Mountain Floating Domain. It seems they anticipated that the Lu Family would seize the opportunity to act. I wonder if it was the traitor who alerted them, or did the Qi Family figure it out themselves.”

Lu Chan examined it closely, silently committing it to memory, while the yellow paper in her hand was incinerated by flames with a wave of her hand.

Following this, Lu Chan realized a problem, ”Fellow Daoist Li, can you divine the Golden Core position of the Qi Family using divination? Can you also use such techniques to ascertain who the traitor is among the Lu Family? Excluding the ancestors and myself, there are seven, all belonging to the main lineage, with no issues in their backgrounds.”

”I have tried to investigate discreetly, but the seven elders are aged, the eldest nearly eight hundred years, while the younger ones are about four hundred years old. Many things are hard to verify. If the investigation goes too deep, it easily alarms the traitor.”

Just the thought of a traitor hidden within the top ranks of the Lu Family ready to put the family in the Land of Death at any moment made her uneasy.

Wen Jiu scrutinized Lu Chan with the East Spring Undying Bone, and a name instantly surfaced in his mind.

Indeed.

He had long known who the traitor was.

And that person was the fake demon cultivator who had sent Lu Chan to the Dark Altar outside the Hidden Demon Sect during the time at the Celestial Yin Mountain Range. As for why that person, being a Golden Core of the Lu Family, would let demon cultivators soul search Lu Chan to investigate Lu Family’s plans, Wen Jiu understood the reason easily after some probing.

Because that person’s position in the Lu Family was rather special, though bearing the title of Elder, they did not manage Lu Family affairs. They would not return to East Pole Immortal City unless a significant matter arose and would usually wander like a carefree nomad outside.

Such a person, claiming them to be a traitor of the Lu Family, likely no one would believe it.

As to who this person was?

It was none other than the Lu Family’s Fifth Elder - Lu Changyin, a renowned Wandering Zhenren in the entire western West Mountain Floating Domain.

Of course, the so-called wanderings were mere illusions. Wen Jiu had long used the Corpse Fate Technique to divine; this person’s wandering served to assist the Outer Path Hidden Demon Sect’s Dark Altar Lineage in setting up the True Spirit Demon Tree layout.

After all, demon cultivators could not act openly, hence needing someone with a clean background and influence to carry out their deeds.

”You need not concern yourself with him; in this confrontation against the Qi family, he will not intervene. When the time is right, I will reveal who he is.” Wen Jiu did not explicitly state it, knowing it would be of no use.

If the Lu family were to act against Lu Changyin, it would inevitably alarm the Outer Path Hidden Demon Sect, adding unnecessary trouble both to the Lu family and himself, shortening the time he could spend in Cold Pool Mist Valley.

After all, why expose Lu Changyin now when he has not been exposed for years?

Thus, to act against Lu Changyin, one needs another excuse, like suddenly being killed by a tribulation cultivator outside.

Lu Chan’s face turned tense upon hearing this, ”Fellow Daoist Li, you already knew who the traitor was!”

”I know, but knowing it won’t do you any good, nor will it benefit the Lu family.”

Wen Jiu continued.

”Why?”

Lu Chan asked with confusion.

”There’s no ’why.’” Wen Jiu still did not answer.

Lu Chan was stunned, wanting to speak but held back, ”Understood, thank you, Fellow Daoist Li.”

Though curious and anxious, Lu Chan ultimately chose to trust, but due to this trust, she felt somewhat uneasy. Knowing who the traitor was brought no benefit to the entire Lu family.

How deeply involved was this person?

”Focus on your own tasks first and come to meet me daily afterward.” Wen Jiu had no intention of saying more.

”Understood.”

Lu Chan nodded.

Not pursuing the reason.

This made Wen Jiu momentarily dismiss the thought of controlling her soul. If Lu Chan had kept asking ”why,” he would have controlled her soul without hesitation.

In his view, asking ”why” repeatedly indicated a lack of trust deep down.

But not asking at all.

Either makes the person a fool.

Or treats him as a fool.

...

In the following days, Wen Jiu divined the Qi family’s Golden Core position daily. Whenever there was any movement, he directly passed the position information to Lu Chan, who promptly encrypted communication via secret techniques to Lu Feng back in the cave.

True to Wen Jiu’s expectations, Lu Changyin indeed did not betray the Lu Family again; despite some movement in the Qi family’s Golden Core position, it never shifted too far. Clearly, the Outer Path Hidden Demon Sect also wanted the Qi family eradicated.

After all, the stronger the Lu family becomes, the more convenient Lu Changyin’s actions would be.

Upon receiving encrypted transmissions multiple times, Lu Feng felt it was worth the blood essence sent over these days. Collaborating with a Tier Three Fate Master allowed the Lu Family to avoid many unexpected events.

Days later.

As the ten-day period had only three days left, Lu Feng convened the Lu Family’s Golden Cores again. However, Lu Chan was still excluded.

Lu Feng began with instructions, ”I have learned of the Qi family’s Golden Core placement. Taixuan, Old Xiu, you are the Great Elder and Second Elder, strongest among everyone, most stable and proper in handling affairs; the Qi Family’s Great Elder Qi Huan is entrusted to you two. His location is in the Ringless Mountain within the World’s Edge Blessed Land.”

”That old thing actually hid in the World’s Edge Blessed Land, which is merely a Tier Two Blessed Land controlled by the Qi Family, usually visited by Foundation Establishment Cultivators, with those beyond the Middle Stage of Foundation Establishment seldom going. Yet, within the depths of Ringless Mountain, the deepest part of World’s Edge Blessed Land, it’s a place Early Stage Foundation Establishment dare not go but the Middle Stage would be too lazy to visit... That old thing indeed knows how to hide, no wonder the dark pawns planted within the Qi family showed no trace whatsoever.” Lu Family’s Great Elder Lu Taixuan uttered gravely.
