Chaotic Sword God

Chapter 3903: Scarlet Fire’s Choice

Right when everyone developed the same doubts, powerful sword intent appeared. Jian Chen had arrived like he had teleported over.

He was not in a hurry to kill Tian Changji. Instead, he looked at the Immortal Exalt beside Tian Changji and smiled mysteriously. “Scarlet Fire Immortal Exalt, I never thought I’d encounter you here. Weren’t you with the Profound Spirit Master?”

The Immortal Exalt in fiery-red robes was the city lord of the Yi Immortal City, one of the three great immortal cities of the Hall Brilliance Heaven, the Scarlet Fire Immortal Exalt!

The Scarlet Fire Immortal Exalt immediately recognised Jian Chen and furrowed his brows. He looked between the murderous Jian Chen and Tian Changji who was riddled with injuries. Bone-chilling coldness filled his heart. “My objectives are different from the Profound Spirit Master’s, so we parted ways a long time ago.”

Since they were acquainted, Jian Chen could clearly tell that his confidence was somewhat lacking from his tone. He had already guessed that this was due to his eldest son, Chi Yutian.

“Scarlet Fire Immortal Exalt, are you going to protect this person?” Jian Chen looked at Tian Changji.

“Senior Scarlet Fire, you only need to block this person and buy me ten minutes of time. Afterwards, our Immortal Feather sect will definitely thank you dearly,” Tian Changji said feebly. He was filled with bitterness. If it were not for the special environment of the Skyscraping World, he would have escaped a long time ago with his abilities.

When they heard him mention the gratitude of the Immortal Feather sect, the Immortal Emperors and Immortal Monarchs sitting around them all looked over enviously.

They were not attracted by the treasures that the Immortal Feather sect could reward them with, but they all wanted opportunity to forge a tie with the Immortal Feather sect.

In the past, the Scarlet Fire Immortal Exalt would have been delighted when such a great opportunity presented itself. He would have done everything that he could to curry favour with the Immortal Feather sect.

After all, this person’s status in the Immortal Feather sect was not low. He was a great elder that was only second to the ancestors. He possessed quite a lot of authority.

But right now, when faced with this fantastic opportunity to ingratiate himself with the Immortal Feather sect, the Scarlet Fire Immortal Exalt could only sigh gently. He said with anguish, “I must apologise. The implications of this are too great. Our Yi Immortal City is of meagre strength. We cannot bear the consequences!”

Shaking his head gently, the Scarlet Fire Immortal Exalt no longer remained. With a step, he vanished several hundred kilometres away, refusing to get involved.

Watching the Scarlet Fire Immortal Exalt disappear, the nearby Immortal Monarchs and Immortal Emperors were all taken aback. They were surprised.

“This is a heaven-sent opportunity, yet senior Scarlet Fire has just given up on it like this…”

“On the Hall Brilliance Heaven, the Yi Immortal City’s status is nowhere near as stable as you might imagine. If they can ingratiate themselves with the Immortal Feather sect, then the Yi Immortal City’s status on the Hall Brilliance Heaven will definitely rise. Any organisation that wants to go after the city lord of the Yi Immortal City will have to reconsider. Senior Scarlet Fire is usually quite clever, so why did he suffer from a lapse of judgment at a time like this…”

“Foolish. Why don’t you think about what kind of organisation would be behind someone who’s even bold enough to kill a great elder of the Immortal Feather sect? Senior Scarlet Fire has been thoughtful. He might have brought devastation upon himself before he could even ingratiate himself with the Immortal Feather sect…”

A few Immortal Emperors who happened to be familiar with one another communicated among themselves. After what the last person said, they all fell silent.

Shortly afterwards, an Immortal Emperor stood up and clasped his fist towards Jian Chen amicably, copying the Scarlet Fire Immortal Exalt and leaving this place.

With someone in the lead, everyone else copied him. All of the cultivators who gathered around the stone tablet left. With someone to warn them, they all considered the potential costs and benefits of the situation. They all refused to take part.

Watching the cultivators in the surroundings scatter, Tian Changji who was already sheet-white became slightly paler. Deep despair filled his eyes.

“Tian Changji, do you still have the strength to flee?” Jian Chen made his way over to Tian Changji slowly with the Heaven-lifting sword. Compared to Tian Changji’s feebleness, Jian Chen was filled with energy. Despite his tattered and bloodied clothes, he did not have a single wound on him. He was in peak condition.

This was the advantage of Chaotic Force. During intense battles, Chaotic Force would always deplete at a slower rate. It was the best for fighting battles of attrition. There was basically no possibility of running out of energy.

Of course, the disadvantage was the recovery and replenishment of Chaotic Force. It would often take several fold the resources compared to cultivators of the same level. Each breakthrough required an astronomical amount of resources as well.

Blood trickled from the corner of Tian Changji’s mouth. His despairing eyes were filled with madness. He laughed aloud. “I don’t care who you are. Only death awaits you when you oppose our Immortal Feather sect…” As soon as he said that, his remaining energy suddenly became abnormally wild. A devastating presence appeared.

“You want to detonate yourself? It’s too late!” Viciousness flashed through Jian Chen’s eyes. He immediately used the Shadowless Lifetaking Strike. Powerful sword Qi bypassed Tian Changji’s high quality god artifact armour, directly slashing inside his body.

Tian Changji shuddered violently and could not help but let out a grunt. His face was filled with pain. The energy he had gathered for the sake of detonation was completely dispersed.

His attempt at detonation had been forcefully interfered with.

Shortly afterwards, the cold gleam of a sword lit up again. The Heaven-lifting sword in Jian Chen’s hand turned into a blur, piercing Tian Changji’s forehead cleanly. His soul was destroyed.

The great elder of the Immortal Feather sect, Tian Changji, had perished!

With that, all three great elders from the Immortal Feather sect who entered the Skyscraping World had died by Jian Chen’s hand.

Coupled with the Seventh Heavenly Layer Immortal Emperor that he had slain when the Wayless Immortal Exalt was pursuing him, four great elders of the Immortal Feather sect had already died by Jian Chen’s hand.

After killing Tian Changji, Jian Chen was unfazed. He made his way over and collected his Space Ring as well as the high quality god artifact armour.

Even the god artifact that Tian Changji used, the folding fan filled with sword Qi, ended up in Jian Chen’s hands.

At the same time, the Scarlet Fire Immortal Exalt stood quietly several hundred kilometres away, gazing into the distance. He witnessed the entire process of Jian Chen killing Tian Changji fearlessly. He was filled with mixed emotions that he struggled to pacify.

“Fortunately, I had Tian’er’s warning, which made me make the other choice in time. Hopefully, I won’t regret this decision,” the Scarlet Fire Immortal Exalt murmured. He was in a slight daze. He could not help but recall all the information regarding Jian Chen he had gathered on the Hall Brilliance Heaven.

Back then on the Hall Brilliance Heaven, he already knew that Jian Chen’s background was extraordinary, helping the Immortal Rising City resolve a disaster.

But back then, Jian Chen could only make him wary at most. It was not enough for him to feel fear.

But at this very moment, when the Scarlet Fire Immortal Exalt personally witnessed how Jian Chen did not even bat an eye when he killed a great elder of the Immortal Feather sect, he finally understood just how terrifying Jian Chen was.

How could his Yi Immortal City afford to provoke a figure who had the courage to publicly oppose a court of heaven?

“You should feel fortunate that you didn’t get involved, or it wouldn’t just be Tian Changji who is dead right now.” Suddenly, a voice rang out from behind the Scarlet Fire Immortal Exalt.
