Chaotic Sword God

Chapter 3856: The Sword Venerable’s Gratitude

After hearing the Skyscraping Sword Venerable’s words, Xing Caijian immediately became filled with apology and guilt. “Senior, I truly must apologise. I was not aware that awakening your lingering will would prematurely bring upon your end. If I had known that, I would have never disturbed you, senior.”

The Skyscraping Sword Venerable waved his hand. He was unconcerned. “There’s no need to blame yourself. This is an agreement that I had with your father. Even if you didn’t awaken my lingering will today, someone else would have done it.”

“I’m just surprised that after all these years, the Chaotic Star Heavenly Emperor has actually had a daughter. If you weren’t carrying the Divine Sword of the Heavenly Star as evidence, I would have never believed this.”

The Skyscraping Sword Venerable looked at Xing Caijian with a hint of affection like he was treating her as his own descendant. Shortly afterwards, he looked at Jian Chen again, and his expression became mixed. “Back then, when I faced the experts of the Saints’ World, I was heavily surrounded and on the brink of death. At that critical juncture, it was the twin swords that burst through space and destroyed the formations set up by the experts of the Saints’ World with a single sword Qi, which allowed me to survive.”

“But unfortunately, my injuries were far too heavy. I was long beyond help. I managed to survive that battle, but I would follow the footsteps of my predecessors before long…”

Reaching there, the Skyscraping Sword Venerable seemed to remember some matters of the past. He could not help but say, “Our Immortals’ World was far more vulnerable during the war back then. Whether it was Immortal Monarchs, Immortal Emperors, or Immortal Exalts, the Saints’ World completely outnumbered us. As a result, as soon as the war began, our Immortals’ World suffered tremendous casualties with many experts dead.”

“If the old senior had not sent the twin swords to slay a large number of experts from the Saints’ World at that critical juncture, shrinking the difference in strength between the two sides, the consequences would have been unimaginable.”

“It was a pity that I didn’t manage to survive the aftermath of that war…”

Towards the end, the Skyscraping Sword Venerable’s face was filled with pain and pity.

Jian Chen obviously knew who the old senior that the Skyscraping Sword Venerable referred to was. He was clearly the previous master of the twin swords.

In the Saints’ World, the old master of the twin swords had swathes of enemies because he killed many of their experts during that war.

But in the Immortals’ World, the old master of the twin swords possessed an extraordinary reputation, having made significant contributions to the world. Many supreme figures treated him as their saviour.

As a matter of fact, many of the ancient traditions and legacies had only managed to be preserved to the current day because of the old master of the twin swords.

Otherwise, who knew how many great organisations of the Immortals’ World would have faced decline.

“Sigh, a lot of time has already passed since the war back then. I wonder how the Sword Sect of Violet Heavens is doing now. However, regardless of the Sword Sect of Violet Heavens’ current situation, I’m certain the Sword Sect of Violet Heavens will return to the peak sooner or later now that the twin swords have emerged again… Hmm? Little fellow, you seem to cultivate the Chaotic Body?” The Skyscraping Sword Venerable who was amidst his reminiscence suddenly paused and stared at Jian Chen in complete surprise.

“You are correct, senior. I do indeed cultivate the Chaotic Body.” Jian Chen smiled. He obviously understood why the Skyscraping Sword Venerable would respond like that.

The Skyscraping Sword Venerable looked at Jian Chen in confusion. “Throughout history, no one who cultivated the Chaotic Body has been able to reach Immortal Exalt. Since you were recognised by the twin swords, you are obviously a man of great fortune. You had such a great starting point, so why did you choose to practise a cultivation method that limited your future?”

“The master we chose is anything but ordinary. We’re confident that a miracle will occur with our master,” Qing Suo said before Jian Chen could respond.

“Since he is recognised by you, I have nothing more to say.” The Skyscraping Sword Venerable looked past Jian Chen and the sword spirits and saw the Spiritual Fruit of Sword Nurturing behind them. He was surprised. “After all this time, I never thought the Spiritual Fruit of Sword Nurturing that I planted here would actually evolve.”

“If I were still alive, I’d definitely do everything that I could to assist the two of you, helping you return to your peak conditions in the shortest amount of time possible.”

“Unfortunately, all that remains of me is a feeble lingering will. My powers are limited. I am unable to be of much help. As a result, I can only use the Spiritual Fruit of Sword Nurturing to repay your kindness from before…”

“Although a mere Spiritual Fruit of Sword Nurturing is completely insignificant compared to the kindness you showed me in the past, this is all that I can do now…”

The Skyscraping Sword Venerable was guilt-ridden. After saying that, his lingering will split into two. One portion turned into white mist and flew to the bottom of the cave, merging with the sword pool.

Immediately, the entire sword pool seemed to boil. Surging sword Qi radiated out. Extremely pure spiritual Qi in the criss-crossing spiritual veins deep underground seemed to receive some kind of order. They all began to amass towards the sword pool like rivers flowing towards the ocean.

At that moment, if someone could pass through the various formations inside the Skyscraping World, it would be quite obvious to see that the immeasurable spiritual Qi deep underground was all surging towards one direction.

The terrifying spiritual Qi accumulated in the sword pool, turning into a blinding ball of light that encased the Spiritual Fruit of Sword Nurturing, which made it grow at a startling rate.

At this speed, the Spiritual Fruit of Sword Nurturing would climb to a higher grade in less than a year, let alone three.

“This will make the world run dry sooner, but all of this is worth it as long as I can help the two of you…” the other half of the Skyscraping Sword Venerable’s lingering will hovered above the Divine Sword of the Heavenly Star and said emotionally.

Compared to before, he seemed even more feeble now. He was like a wisp of smoke that could disperse in the wind at any moment.

“Skyscraping, we heard that you left behind a few seeds of ways in the past. If you really want to help us, then give us the seeds of ways. Our master is in need of them.” Zi Ying demanded without holding back.

The Skyscraping Sword Venerable became troubled. “I did indeed leave behind some seeds of ways in the past, but these seeds of ways are protected by numerous formations. These formations are so powerful that even Ninth Heavenly Layer Immortal Exalts would struggle to breach them. These formations will only open once the corresponding conditions are met, and then they will cast out a seed of ways…”

“If I were still alive, retrieving the seeds of ways would not be difficult, but I’m just a feeble wisp of lingering will now. I’ve lost many of my abilities. All I can do is barely accelerate the growth of the Spiritual Fruit of Sword Nurturing. Everything else is already beyond my abilities.”

The Skyscraping Sword Venerable bowed deeply towards the sword spirits and said, “After splitting off a part of my lingering will, the time I have left was shortened even further, so I cannot remain here for much longer. Otherwise, I’m afraid that I would not be able to uphold my past agreement with the Chaotic Star Heavenly Emperor.”

“Little fellow, there isn’t a lot that I can do for you, so let me teach you a technique. With this technique, you can control the spiritual Qi within a range of ten thousand kilometres in this world. Hopefully, it will be of help…”

After leaving behind a secret technique, the Skyscraping Sword Venerable and Xing Caijian left.
