Catastrophic necromancer

Chapter 131: Ning Tairan’s Nemesis

From Shi Xing’an’s account, Lin Moyu learned the details of the situation.

The Abyss had launched large-scale attacks on multiple locations.

In the Divine Summer Empire, besides their Fortress No. 1, Fortresses No. 7 and 8 were also attacked simultaneously.

All the high-level career holders in the army had gone to support Fortresses No. 7 and 8.

Reportedly, the fighting there was even more intense, with even third transition career holders joining the battle.

It wasn’t just the Divine Summer Empire.

Cherry Blossom Country, Stick Country, and Eagle Country were all attacked with similar intensity.

Shi Xing’an said, “Our Divine Summer Empire is still okay, without many casualties. I heard Cherry Blossom and Stick Countries suffered badly, losing quite a few career holders.”

Career holders didn’t fear injury or losing limbs.

As long as they survived, even the worst injuries could be healed.

But if they died, there was nothing that could be done.

War was cruel, especially the war between humans and the Abyss.

It was a life-and-death struggle between races, with no survivors, no prisoners, no surrender on either side.

There were only two possibilities – death or survival.

Shi Xing’an said, “Our Fortress No. 1 is furthest from the Abyss, with nine fortresses between us blocking the Abyss’s power. We’re least affected here.”

“Plus with the layers of defenses set up by top experts in the empire, the Abyss can’t teleport very powerful demons over.”

“But this isn’t foolproof. Though they can’t teleport, some demons are skilled at infiltration. They might sneak over to assassinate you.”

“Be very careful when operating in the Elemental Battlefield.”

Lin Moyu’s performance this time was too outstanding.

The Abyss demons had taken note of him.

Given the chance, they would definitely try to kill him at any cost.

At just level 24, Lin Moyu could easily kill level 30+ Abyss monsters.

When Lin Moyu grew up, he might become a big problem for the Abyss.

In the past, some human geniuses were assassinated by the Abyss before they could grow up.

Lin Moyu became alert, “I’ll be careful.”

Ning Yiyi ran to Lin Moyu’s side, smiling brightly, “Finished chatting?”

Lin Moyu nodded, “Yes. Let’s rest in the city for a bit before running dungeons again.”

Ning Yiyi nodded repeatedly, “Okay, okay.”

She was overjoyed that Lin Moyu was willing to take her dungeon running.

A ringtone sounded.

Ning Yiyi’s communicator rang.

Ning Yiyi answered cheerfully, “Grandpa, why are you calling me? Didn’t you say you wouldn’t interfere during my mission?”

“Where are you now?” An old, authoritative voice came through the communicator.

Ning Yiyi said, “I’m in Fortress No. 1 in the Elemental Battlefield.”

“Stay where you are. I’m coming over immediately.” The voice on the other end clearly sounded relieved.

Ning Yiyi’s face changed slightly. She said “Oh” softly.

After hanging up, Ning Yiyi said, “My grandpa is coming over.”

Having already heard, Lin Moyu didn’t react much, “Then we’ll wait a bit.”

Ning Yiyi was a bit uneasy, “Why is grandpa suddenly coming over?”

“Maybe he’s worried about you,” Lin Moyu thought. It should be that.

The communicators were blocked earlier. It was understandable for the old man to worry about his granddaughter.

A few minutes later, an old man appeared in the teleportation array.

The old man wore a robe unique to the Divine Summer Empire, looking spirited.

“Grandpa.”

Ning Yiyi called sweetly.

Lin Moyu’s eyes narrowed slightly.

This old man was extraordinary.

He had the Summer Capital University insignia, showing he was from there.

The military badge on his shoulder…

Five-star Divine General.

Same as Bai Yiyuan, a five-star Divine General.

Such figures were rare in the Divine Summer Empire.

They were all famous people in textbooks.

Surname Ning, five-star Divine General.

Ning Tairan.

Lin Moyu felt deep respect.

This was a great figure on par with Bai Yiyuan.

Unexpectedly, he was Ning Yiyi’s grandfather.

No wonder Ning Yiyi didn’t care about intermediate skill scrolls.

So she was actually Ning Tairan’s granddaughter.

Ning Tairan walked out of the teleportation array. Seeing Ning Yiyi safe and sound, he breathed a sigh of relief.

But the next second his eyes narrowed, pupils constricting, revealing a dangerous light.

He saw his dear granddaughter holding hands with a brat.

The key was, he recognized this brat.

“Lin Moyu!”

Ning Tairan shouted lowly.

Lin Moyu was stunned, “You know me?”

“Brat, let go of your paw!”

Ning Tairan shouted again.

“What did you say?” Lin Moyu was bewildered, not reacting for a moment. This legendary figure’s temper seemed quite bad.

But Ning Yiyi understood. She snorted and stood in front of Lin Moyu, “Grandpa, what are you doing?”

Seeing Ning Yiyi, Ning Tairan’s imposing aura instantly dissipated. He forced a smile, “Nothing, just testing this boy’s courage. Seems okay.”

Ning Yiyi snorted, looking displeased, “You’re not allowed to bully Moyu, or I won’t talk to you anymore.”

Ning Tairan’s face changed drastically, “That won’t do. Don’t worry, grandpa won’t bully him. Otherwise that Bai Yiyuan would tear down grandpa’s dungeon hall.”

“That’s more like it!”

Ning Yiyi looked satisfied. She turned to Lin Moyu and said, “This is my grandpa. You’ve probably guessed his name already, so I won’t introduce him.”

Lin Moyu nodded, “Greetings, Senior Ning.”

Ning Tairan waved his hand, “Alright, alright, no need to be so polite.”

He still didn’t have a good tone towards Lin Moyu.

But because Ning Yiyi was there, Ning Tairan was suppressing his temper.

However, his eyes kept staring at their hands.

Ning Yiyi just held onto Lin Moyu and wouldn’t let go. He was helpless.

Ning Yiyi said, “Why did you come find me so urgently?”

Ning Tairan blew his beard, “I came to take you back. That fool your second uncle actually let you come to the Elemental Battlefield for a mission. He’s really getting senile in his old age.”

Ning Yiyi looked strange, “But second uncle said the mission was your order.”

Ning Tairan’s whole body trembled. He blew his beard and glared, “Bullshit! That old second made the decision himself without consulting me. I happened to be busy those few days, so he took advantage of the opportunity.”

“Dear granddaughter, come back with grandpa quickly. We won’t do any mission.”

Ning Tairan tried to reach out to pull Ning Yiyi, but she dodged.

Ning Yiyi shook her head, “Since second uncle assigned the mission and I accepted it, I should complete it.”

“You taught me this – to see things through to the end.”

Ning Yiyi spoke righteously, clearly showing she wouldn’t go back.

Ning Tairan became anxious, “You can do missions anywhere. There are plenty of missions in the university for you to do. Why must it be in the Elemental Battlefield? You don’t know how dangerous the Elemental Battlefield is. What if something happens?”

“That fool old second is an idiot. I’ll go back and give him a good beating, let him know why flowers are red…”

Ning Yiyi snorted, “With Moyu here, there won’t be any danger.”

“Moyu promised to take me dungeon running. I want to complete the Hell Outpost set.”

Calling him “Moyu” over and over, Ning Tairan’s face looked even worse.

His jealousy was visibly rising.

Staring at Lin Moyu, “Brat, say something. The Elemental Battlefield is so dangerous. I don’t want Yiyi to take risks here.”

His words carried a threatening tone.

Lin Moyu said softly, “I respect Yiyi’s choice.”

“You…”

Ning Tairan glared with a fierce expression.

Ning Yiyi stood up, “Grandpa, you’re not allowed to threaten Moyu. Otherwise I really won’t talk to you anymore.”

Ning Tairan’s aura instantly melted like ice and snow. He put on a smile again, “Alright, alright. You say you want to run dungeons with this boy. How about grandpa sends a few people to accompany you?”

In his mind, for Hell dungeons, at least 10 people were needed, right?

It would be troublesome to find people to team up. If he sent some people over, they shouldn’t refuse.

Unexpectedly, Ning Yiyi said, “No need. Moyu will carry me solo.”

“How can that work! Are you two tired of living?”

Ning Tairan lost his composure and couldn’t help but cry out.

Ning Yiyi snorted, “Grandpa, look at this.”

She showed off the [Hell Outpost Dagger] in front of Ning Tairan.

Ning Tairan still looked disbelieving, “You two are really running Hell difficulty?”

Ning Yiyi giggled, “Not the two of us. To be precise, Moyu is carrying me. I don’t need to do anything, just eat some food and clear the dungeon.”

“Really?”

“Really!”

Ning Tairan was speechless.

He knew a bit about Lin Moyu’s dungeon running ability.

Carrying 39 people through the large Tyrant Desert dungeon.

He didn’t expect Lin Moyu could even solo the dragon Hell difficulty dungeon.

In that case, when Lin Moyu’s level was higher, could he solo Hell difficulty for other dungeons too?

If so…

At least he didn’t need to worry about Ning Yiyi’s equipment.

Looking at it this way, this Lin Moyu brat seemed a bit pleasing to the eye.

He sized up Lin Moyu, suddenly noticing the military badge on his shoulder.

He cried out again, “How did you become a lieutenant? That’s impossible.”

Ning Yiyi, “Grandpa, can you stop being so dramatic? You’re getting old, can’t you be calmer?”

“Second uncle is better than you in this regard. He never makes a fuss when encountering things.”

“Isn’t becoming a lieutenant very normal?”

“Alright grandpa, you should go back first. We’ll naturally come back in a few days.”

After being lectured by his granddaughter, Ning Tairan finally calmed down, “Then for the Career Holder Tournament in a few days, you must come back to participate.”

Ning Yiyi was a bit impatient, “I know, I know. You go back now. We’re leaving first.”

Lin Moyu also bid farewell to Ning Tairan, “Don’t worry, I’ll take good care of Yiyi.”

Ning Yiyi pulled Lin Moyu away, leaving Ning Tairan standing there in a daze.

People came and went around him, but everyone ignored Ning Tairan.

As if he didn’t exist.

When the three of them were talking earlier, no one around heard anything.

Needless to say, this was all Ning Tairan’s doing.

Otherwise, with his status, he would definitely be surrounded by onlookers just standing there.

“No good, this boy isn’t normal. I need to go ask!”

After thinking for a while, Ning Tairan turned and walked into the fortress.
