ʼI am listening,ʼ the Field Marshal responded, acknowledging the bait that Wyatt threw her way.

ʼI guess you are not as interested as I thought you were, Your Highness,ʼ Wyatt said pretending to pull the bait away, not getting the right response from the Field Marshal.

ʼAlright, what do I need to do in return?ʼ the Field Marshal hoped she could get Wyatt to give more but seeing him take away what he was ready to give, she caved and?hurriedly bit the bait.

How could she not? Wyatt was dangling everything she could hope from him in front of her. If she could get Wyatt to willingly embrace his title ʼHope of the South,ʼ as her niece urged her to persuade him to do so, and also get Wyatt to become a part of their royal family, just as many in their family had hoped, she would become the hero of the family, especially in Annaʼs eyes. So she could not help but perk her ears when Wyatt proposed these terms.

ʼNow, you are speaking my language. In return, I want your full support, switch your alliance to me,ʼ Wyatt revealed his terms. He had long decided to teach Annaʼs mother a lesson by stealing her most trusted aid, Field Marshal Heatsend.

ʼNot happening,ʼ the Field Marshal rejected without thinking. Which only made Wyatt smile, as he asked, ʼWhy not? Donʼt you want to help the ʼHope of the Southern region?ʼ

ʼWyatt, I know what you are trying to do and it will not happen,ʼ the Field Marshal saw through Wyattʼs intentions, well he wasnʼt trying to hide it. He was slowly reeling her in.

ʼYour Highness, I am not only willing to play my role but also become your family, what else will it take for me to gain your alliance? Besides, What kind of ʼHope of the Southʼ would I be if I didnʼt have the trust and support of the ʼHero of the South?ʼ,ʼ Wyatt pointed out.

After all, the Field Marshal did say, she would not go against her family for someone who was not her family. Now he was practically becoming a part of her family, yet she was hesitant to give him her support.

ʼIt is not as simple as you make it sound,ʼ the Field Marshal retorted, feeling trapped by her own words.

ʼI see, you want me to do as you say but at the same time, you donʼt want to give me what I want. Was that simple enough?ʼ Wyatt basically said the Field Marshal wanted to screw him over. Regardless of her nuanced words, that was the gist of it. Not just her, but the entire Southern royal family.

Well, except for Anna. The last time Wyatt saw her, she gave him the feeling if he asked her to, she would not hesitate to betray the Southern royal family for him. Thatʼs the feeling he got from her. That was extreme and heartless, but that was how Anna rolled, pursuing what she wanted with one track mind. As for her other worries, they were split into her innate twin Ann. Hence, her thoughts were not much complex, nor was it her style. Wyatt couldnʼt believe he missed that crazy and spoiled princess.

ʼWyatt, you are overthinking things. Things are not that simple. Since you are becoming a part of our family, would you be willing to part with your manager, if I asked you to?ʼ the Field Marshal turned Wyattʼs fingers onto him. Asking him, since he was joining their family by marrying Anna, would he give up on Susan?

ʼWait, you are telling me itʼs okay for me to be with whoever I please even if I chose to become your family?ʼ Wyatt did not know he could continue to see other people after marrying into the royal family.

ʼNo, that was not what I meant. Stop twisting my words— You devil,ʼ the Field Marshal gave up, understanding there was no winning with Wyatt. He was one of the most difficult person she had met. He was stubborn, uncompromising, and unyielding.

ʼYour Highness, let me make it easier for you. How about we make another wager? If you win you will get what you want without having to do anything in return,ʼ Wyatt proposed. He remained patient, he didnʼt try to tug too strong worrying that the string would snap and all he worked for so far would be for nothing.

ʼAnother wager? Why would I willingly put myself through that mental torture again, when I am already experiencing it? No, thank you,ʼ the Field Marshal had already been at the end of her wits about how Wyatt planned to free the Clown Mask when he was busy here. She knew, Wyatt would not give up and had some plan, but she had little idea what it was, which made it harder for her to stay calm. If not for her new mission to get Wyatt to embrace his title as ʼHope of the Southʼ distracting her, she would be wrecking her brains right now trying to figure out Wyattʼs game plan.

When the Field Marshal could not handle the hell of having entered a wager with Wyatt, why would she go out of her way to get herself another one of those, she wasnʼt a masochist. So, she rejected Wyatt without hesitation. The stakes proposed by Wyatt were indeed very attractive, but she did not think her mind could handle another one of Wyattʼs mind games. She wasnʼt up to the challenge.

ʼFine. I will make it a lot easier for you, how about we bet on an already existing wager?ʼ Wyatt proposed to improve on their already existing wager, seeing that the Field Marshal would not even consider the idea of entering another wager with him.

The Field Marshal contemplated for a second and then responded, ʼHow do we do that?ʼ Though she was unsure what Wyatt was up to she decided to hear him out.
