Creak~

As the door closed, the light inside the alchemy room dimmed considerably.

”Quick, grab that little guy!” Zi Yan rubbed her small hands together excitedly and shouted.

”Wait, don’t act recklessly.” Wei Yang hurriedly held the little girl back.

”Zi Yan, don’t mess around. This little thing may look harmless, but that’s only an illusion. After all, it’s something close to a Tier 9 pill. How could it really be that weak?”

Xiao Yan was also startled and quickly pulled Zi Yan back, saying, ”Besides, we still don’t know what its abilities are. If we scare it away, that would be a huge problem.”

”Then what should we do? Even if we all join forces, can’t we take it down?” Zi Yan asked.

Wei Yang shook his head, pushed Zi Yan over to Qing Lin so she wouldn’t cause trouble, and then a faint smile appeared on his face. ”No need to make it so complicated. Catching a little guy like this doesn’t require brute force.”

”Agreed.” Xiao Yan licked his lips and nodded. ”You two just watch from the side. Brother Wei and I will handle this.”

As he spoke, he looked toward Wei Yang, and Wei Yang looked back at him. The two exchanged glances, then separated and slowly moved toward the little beast from both sides.

After stopping a few steps away, they each flipped their hands and took out a jade bottle from their storage rings. Opening the bottles, they poured out some pills.

Xiao Yan took out several Tier 4 pills, picked one out, and tossed it toward the snow-white little creature.

Whirr~

The pill landed softly beside the little white beast and spun a few times. The beast was startled and backed away a bit, its lively eyes watching the two of them warily. Both men immediately put on identical, kind, and friendly smiles.

Perhaps their smiles had an effect, because the little beast cautiously approached and sniffed at the Tier 4 pill. However, it didn’t eat it. It shook its head and backed away again. Judging by its reaction, it clearly looked down on such low-quality pills.

”Uh...” Seeing this scene, Xiao Yan’s smile stiffened, and an awkward expression appeared on his face.

This little thing sure didn’t give him any face.

Wei Yang couldn’t help but curl his lips into a smirk and glanced at him. ”You’re a Tier 8 alchemist, yet you’re carrying around Tier 4 pills? You’re not embarrassed taking out such cheap stuff?”

”Watch me.”

Wei Yang lifted his hand, revealing a Tier 6 pill, picked one out, and gently tossed it forward. It landed beside the little beast. This time, after sniffing, excitement flickered in the creature’s bright eyes.

Its soft pink tongue rolled out, scooping up the pill like a bean, crunching it with a few crisp bites before swallowing it.

”Looks like this little guy’s taste has been spoiled by the high-tier pills in this Pill Hall.” Xiao Yan gave a wry smile.

He could only put away his Tier 4 pills and take out a bottle of Tier 6 ones, flicking one with his finger toward the little beast. Sure enough, the beast sniffed it, then swept it into its mouth with its tongue and happily crunched away.

After eating two Tier 6 pills, the creature’s wary look lessened a lot. It looked at Wei Yang, then at Xiao Yan, its lively eyes sparkling with excitement. That soft pink tongue kept flicking out like a puppy’s, clearly showing that it wanted more.

Seeing this, both men smiled.

This kind of Pill Beast fed on pills, so using pills to feed and tame it was the best method.

Just like raising a pet.

Wei Yang flicked his finger, and another Tier 6 pill flew out. The little beast ate it happily, then looked back at Xiao Yan. Xiao Yan also flicked out another one. After eating that, the beast looked back at Wei Yang again.

Whoosh~

Thus, the two began taking turns tossing out pills, one after another, Tier 6 pills flying out like they cost nothing, all thrown for the Pill Beast to eat. The Pill Beast didn’t refuse any, swallowing every Tier 6 pill it got.

After eating more than ten of them, the beast’s eyes toward the two men were no longer wary. Instead, they now carried a faint hint of affection.

”This... isn’t this a bit too extravagant?”

Seeing Wei Yang and Xiao Yan feeding the little creature Tier 6 pills like beans, Qing Lin couldn’t help but feel distressed. Those were Tier 6 pills!

In the outside world, they were worth a fortune — even in a place like Black-Corner Region, they could be used as the finale item of an auction. But now, the two of them were using them like cat food.

Such luxurious behavior made Qing Lin, who had grown up poor, feel an ache in her heart just watching it. Even Zi Yan, the usually carefree little rich girl, couldn’t help but feel a twinge of pain in her chest.

That was a lot of bottles of pills...

”No choice, this little guy’s too picky. It won’t even touch anything below Tier 6.” Wei Yang and Xiao Yan both said helplessly. This little fellow was quite selective with its food.

Qing Lin could only give a bitter smile as she watched the two continue tossing out Tier 6 pills one after another like feed. Still, their efforts weren’t without reward — at least now, the little beast was acting quite friendly toward them.

It was just like feeding a stray cat: give it food a few times, and it’ll soon let you pet it as much as you like. This feeding went on for quite a while. During this time, Wei Yang and Xiao Yan had thrown out over twenty Tier 6 pills and nine Tier 7 ones.

Such extravagance was enough to make even the two Tier 8 alchemists feel the strain.

After all, even with their current abilities, it would take a lot of time and effort to refine so many pills. Yet now, under the crunching sounds of the little creature’s munching, all of them were gone in a matter of moments.

Thankfully, the little one finally seemed full.

Just as the two’s faces were beginning to darken, the snow-white beast finally finished eating. It propped up its two short legs and sat there, its fluffy paws patting its round belly, eyes filled with pure satisfaction.

Judging by its expression, it must have been a long time since it last ate so well.

Wei Yang and Xiao Yan exchanged glances and both let out a quiet sigh of relief, secretly wiping the cold sweat from their foreheads. At last, they’d managed to feed this starving little thing. Any longer, and even the two of them — both five-colored Tier 8 alchemists — might not have been able to afford it.

”Come here, little one.” Wei Yang crouched down and waved at the little beast.

The snow-white beast glanced at him with its lively eyes. It looked like it wanted to come over, but still hesitated a little. Seeing that, Wei Yang smiled faintly.

Looks like this little fellow was still a bit unsure. But as long as it willingly came over, it would mean it had accepted and recognized them completely. He flipped his hand, and a jade bottle appeared in his palm.

Opening the lid, a thick, rich medicinal fragrance wafted out, filling the entire alchemy room. Inside the jade bottle hovered a perfectly round purple-blue pill, surrounded by a swirling mist of spiritual energy.

The pill even seemed to have a life of its own, spinning gently inside the bottle, shimmering with light. This was a three-colored Tier 8 Purple Azure Supreme Pill, the most spiritually potent one Wei Yang currently possessed.

As soon as this pill appeared, the snow-white little beast’s eyes widened like saucers — bulging as if they were about to pop out. With a spring of its limbs, its chubby body arced through the air and landed eagerly in front of Wei Yang.

Chirp chirp chirp~

The little beast bounced around Wei Yang, circling him while letting out flattering little cries. Wei Yang, however, casually closed the bottle and put it away.

Chirp chirp chirp~

At once, the little beast panicked, standing upright on its hind legs and hugging Wei Yang’s leg with its fluffy paws, its bright eyes watery and its tongue sticking out pleadingly.

Wei Yang picked it up, holding it in his arms as he stood, smiling. ”You greedy little thing. You just ate a ton, and it’s still not enough? Don’t worry — as long as you behave, you’ll get plenty of good stuff in the future.”

Chirp chirp~

The little beast nodded furiously, stretching its neck to nuzzle Wei Yang’s chin affectionately, its behavior downright fawning.

”Haha, what a cunning little thing.” Wei Yang couldn’t help but laugh.

Where’d all that aloof pride go, huh?

The fluffy creature was like a warm ball of fur in his arms — honestly, it felt just like holding a fat cat.

”Finally got it under control.” Xiao Yan, Qing Lin, and Zi Yan all walked over with grins, reaching out to rub and pet the little beast.

Mm, the feel was great — very smooth, very satisfying to touch.
