Beneath the Red Dragon

Chapter 16: Chapter 15: Camid in Deep Thought

”Karon, how did you grow such a big head? I think your body is much larger than Kleyna, who is also a Red Dragon, completely inconsistent with the normal age stages.”

Blue Dragon Doss curiously asked Karon, who seemed to be meditating with his eyes closed.

In theory, every Giant Dragon treats its inheritance and secrets as treasures, not to be pried into.

But the Juvenile Dragons have now become accustomed to communication and sharing, so Doss asked this question with an experimental mindset.

Karon’s red body was already more than seven meters long, and at this moment, he was lying under an apple tree with pink and white blossoms, exploring the secrets in his mind.

He always felt that as he interacted with these Juvenile Dragons, he gradually established a mysterious, one-way connection that only he could perceive, but this connection was elusive, and he couldn’t grasp its pattern.

Upon hearing the inquiry from the Blue Dragon, he finally opened his eyes. Just as he was pondering how to answer, he noticed that several Juvenile Dragons around him had perked their ears and quietly approached, obviously very curious about this question as well.

Thanks to Green Dragon Antajena’s meticulous care, the orchard belonging to the Dragon Group was thriving. With summer approaching, some trees had already started to bloom. This was the Juvenile Dragons’ first industry, so they were quite concerned and came to inspect.

Moreover, because the Juvenile Dragons were always in a group, their movements were usually closely connected, unlike those Dragons who were expelled from the Dragon Nest by their parents to live alone.

Apart from their innately stubborn nature, the influence of their environment was crucial. Therefore, the Juvenile Dragons in this family mostly enjoyed group activities like human children.

Karon pondered for a while, thinking that although his uniqueness was partly unreplicable, it might also be partly replicable. So he organized his thoughts and decided to share with the Juvenile Dragons.

”Well, I’ve awakened the bloodline of the previous generation of Red Dragons. The resurgence of my ancestors’ bloodline gives me a higher limit and potential than other Giant Dragons.”

Karon revealed a part of the truth that could be replicated to these Juvenile Dragons. In his eyes, he would be delighted if the Juvenile Dragons could become stronger because of this.

Growing up together, these Juvenile Dragons would be his right-hand helpers in anything he pursued, as long as he could lead them.

The awakening of the previous generation’s bloodline?

The Juvenile Dragons were not unfamiliar with this concept, as they all hailed from pure-blooded Dragon lineages, with this knowledge enclosed in their inheritance.

There are many ways Giant Dragons could gain strength, with the most ancient and authentic being the tracing of one’s bloodline origins.

Reviving those particularly potent ancestral bloodlines from one’s parents, and beyond that, there was the more ancient Ancestral Dragon Blood and the Blood of the First Generation from when the Dragon Race was first born.

Throughout the history of the Five-Colored Giant Dragons, there were many cases of Dragons awakening the Blood of Ancestral Return, but they had gradually become historical legends, with no specific information about pursuing this powerful path.

Moreover, in the inheritance of Dragons, only the Five-Colored Evil Dragon Goddess Tiamat was said to possess such extraordinary power, capable of bestowing great bloodlines to the Dragons she favored.

Kleyna had always seen the male Red Dragon as her goal to catch up with after being repeatedly defeated by Karon.

Upon hearing the Red Dragon’s explanation, she urgently asked, ”Then how does one awaken a more powerful ancestral bloodline in oneself, Karon? I haven’t noticed you doing anything particularly unusual in your training, unless fishing is also a useful method.”

Mentioning this made Kleyna a little frustrated. She had been staying by Karon’s side for a while, and it seemed unreasonable that such a simple act could be so beneficial to a Giant Dragon.

Green Dragon Antajena and Blue Dragon Doss both showed skeptical looks, while only White Dragon Camid had a contemplative expression in his eyes.

Karon shook his head, clenching his Dragon Claw into a fist and resting it under his chin, a position that made him feel more comfortable.

He combined the information from his inheritance and then concluded, ”It should be combat. Haven’t you noticed that those Dragons who have clearly awakened the Blood of Ancestral Return throughout history aren’t like the majority of Dragons who hide in treasure-laden caves, occasionally emerging to exert their dominance?”

”Those Dragons enjoy challenging powerful opponents. They find joy in battles, which allows the Evil Dragon Blood within them to find satisfaction. Perhaps this is why the Evil Dragon Blood evolves.”

Rosani scratched his head in confusion, ”But we always hunt together. Karon, do you sneak out after we fall asleep to fight others?” At this moment, the Black Dragon’s expression was indescribable, akin to a university student discovering that roommates were secretly studying and taking extra classes.

”Of course not. Besides fighting enemies for satisfaction, you can also battle yourself, struggling against the will of the Evil Dragon Blood within, to gain mastery over it rather than letting it dominate your will.”

Karon always felt that this method was somewhat akin to so-called Refining Heart, an exercise in mental and willpower training.

Even though Karon knew that his awakening of ancestral bloodline stemmed from a combination of factors, there was no doubt that this training method was a significant incentive.

”That’s too difficult, Karon, how can you possibly manage it?” Green Dragon Antajena sighed.

Controlling the Evil Dragon Blood first requires a will strong enough to suppress the inherent urges that Dragon Blood imparts to the Giant Dragons.

Just like the intrinsic nature of Red Dragons, being quick-tempered, impulsive, and aggressive.

Yet, after persevering for a long time, Karon had become more rational and composed than the innately steady Blue Dragon, extending his claws only when necessary. This indicates that daily, Karon resisted and succeeded against the influence of the Evil Dragon Blood.

The influence of the Giant Dragon Blood is extremely difficult to overcome. For Karon, the simplest part, which was the hardest for these Juvenile Dragons, was that many Dragons couldn’t differentiate between their own will and thoughts induced by the Evil Dragon Blood.

Therefore, this method sounded to these Juvenile Dragons like a frustrating exercise of doing the opposite of what one wants to do.

Kleyna held her head in her hands, walking away, muttering to herself, ”Why can Karon do it, and I can’t? I need to see if I can do it myself.”

The other Juvenile Dragons pondered over Karon’s words since no creature would refuse to become stronger. Blue Dragon Doss, who always liked thinking more than the others, vaguely grasped some ideas.

Gomot and Rosani mimicked Karon by resting their Dragon Claws under their chins, perhaps hoping that this method of thinking could bring additional wisdom.

Hmm, Camid was still in a pensive state. Whenever he encountered something he couldn’t understand, he always looked like this.

The diverse flowers in the orchard swayed in the breeze, their colors as varied as the cluttered thoughts in the Juvenile Dragons’ heads at this moment.
