Beating Instances through Words Left by the Dead

Chapter 396: Chapter 216: Extraordinary Overload

The massive emergence of Erosion Dungeons and the explosion of Transcendents have rapidly decreased public security on Blue Star.

Spirit Fox expressed unease about the future, gazing out the car window, she slowly said:

”My intuition tells me that the spread of Extraordinary Abilities may not be a good thing for Blue Star. However, as a player of the Abyssal Game, I am a beneficiary of Extraordinary Abilities, so it seems I am not qualified to say such things.”

Wu Chang shrugged his shoulders, advising:

”Don’t think too much about it. No matter what happens tomorrow, it’s not something you or I can decide. I told you back in Peaceful Town that when the sky collapses, there are always taller people to hold it up. We just need to hang in there.”

Spirit Fox looked at Wu Chang with a knowing expression:

”In Peaceful Town, it was you who helped stabilize my mind, giving me the courage to remain myself in dangerous environments. If things become dangerous in the future, can I still rely on you?”

Wu Chang’s heart skipped a beat. He already had enough trouble as it was, and now Spirit Fox wanted to involve him too.

Could it be that Fang Hui’s unlucky streak with romance is contagious?

He could only pretend not to understand, saying, ”We are all colleagues. If you face difficulties, I’ll definitely help.”

Seeing that Spirit Fox was not willing to let the matter drop, Wu Chang could only speed up the car to reach their destination quickly.

Under his driving, the two soon arrived at the East Lake District of Wanghai City.

The East Lake District is a new urban area of Wanghai City and has been the fastest-growing region in the last decade or two.

It is home to many high-tech industries and internet companies, with average incomes surpassing those of other districts. With higher average incomes, improved and updated public facilities naturally attract more high-income residents.

Seventy percent of the wealthy in Wanghai City gather in the East Lake District.

In the past, a concentration of wealthy individuals indicated better surrounding medical and education resources, which was a good thing. But now, for some people, such a concentration has become a natural target.

The East Lake District Police Department has recently received numerous reports of burglaries, mostly from the villa district. Often the situations are similar, with home doors and windows damaged, unknown individuals infiltrating homes, and taking away all valuable belongings.

After reporting, the police department retrieved nearby surveillance footage, but neither the reporting individual’s home monitoring nor the communal and surrounding street surveillance captured images of the thief.

The thief seems like an invisible person, leaving the East Lake District Police Department helpless.

The information was reported to the Management Bureau. After merely glancing at the scene, the bureau members confirmed that the perpetrator possessed Extraordinary Abilities.

However, whether the person was a player still requires further confirmation.

Apart from the burglary cases, the East Lake District Police Department also received several unexplained reports, including cases of disappearance and murder.

Away from the Abyssal Game, what the East Lake District is encountering is the most direct impact of the spread of Extraordinary Abilities.

The misuse of Extraordinary Abilities.

Those who possess weapons naturally develop the intent to kill.

Suddenly acquiring power beyond ordinary humans, it’s hard to resist the urge to use it.

Prior to the spread of Extraordinary Abilities, with the economic downturn and widening social wealth gap, people’s resentment was already growing day by day.

With the intervention of Extraordinary Abilities, those already filled with resentment easily tread the path to evil.

The quick-money methods are all written in the criminal code. Previously, fearing capture, many people, even harboring ill intentions, would restrain themselves.

But now, possessing Extraordinary Abilities, those with a mischievous heart but lacking the courage are hard-pressed not to transform into lawbreakers, treating the criminal code as a part-time employment guide.

And the primary task of the Management Bureau now is to handle these suddenly awakened Wild Transcendents.

Wu Chang and Spirit Fox patrolled around the East Lake District. When passing by a bank, Wu Chang sensed something, so he stopped the car by the roadside and slowly walked into the bank.

As soon as he stepped into the bank, his vision went black. Immediately, a metal tube was pressed against the back of his head, and a dull voice came from behind him.

”If you don’t want to die, squat down with your hands on your head.”
