Beating Instances through Words Left by the Dead

Chapter 321: Chapter 193: Pillar of the Present World

Disclosing the Pillar of the Present World is to destroy it?

This conclusion made Wu Chang shudder. If what Kristen said was true, all of his previous speculations would be overturned, and he would have to reassess everything.

The first thing to reassess is the mysterious organization.

From a logical standpoint, they have no reason to destroy the Pillar of the Present World. It is the passage back to reality. If they didn’t want to return to reality, they would not bother; they could simply not return.

Those who want to destroy the Pillar of the Present World’s purpose should be to completely sever the connection between Abyss First Layer and Second Layer, preventing players from higher planes from affecting players on lower planes.

Analyzing from this perspective, the actions of the mysterious organization fall into two possibilities.

One, if the Pillar of the Present World is destroyed, and the Four Major Organizations are attacked, their goal is likely to prevent the high-level players of the Four Major Organizations from returning to reality. In doing so, within a short time, the Four Major Organizations would lack high-end combat power in reality, thus achieving certain objectives.

But this possibility doesn’t hold water.

The Four Major Organizations are still the Four Major Organizations even without players from the Abyss Second Layer. In a situation where everyone lacks high-end combat power, the Four Major Organizations backed by the state have overwhelming power in the Desolate Realm.

Wu Chang leans towards the second possibility.

If the destruction of the Pillar of the Present World and the attack on the Four Major Organizations were not committed by the mysterious organization he had identified, then likely, this is a plan orchestrated by the Four Major Organizations themselves.

Let’s not forget that players who enter the Abyss Second Layer have already reached the level of superheroes in animations and movies, and the ordinary society’s force and laws can no longer restrain them.

As he previously suspected, even if the Four Major Organizations lost the players from the Abyss Second Layer, they are still the Four Major Organizations.

But for the powerholders of these organizations in the real world, without the players from the Abyss Second Layer, they are the bosses, no longer overshadowed by this group living above them; they become puppets instead.

If they could manage to disconnect from the Abyss Second Layer, no one could shake their position; isn’t that delightful?

This also explains the reaction of the mysterious organization.

Perhaps they had already caught wind of the plan, sense the betrayal from the lower tier aiming to oust them, blocking their return home.

But restricted by their bonds in reality, they couldn’t strike directly, so they let the dungeons run amok, allowing Erosion Dungeons to attack reality, creating a facade of mutual destruction, forcing the Four Major Organizations to step back.

Wu Chang drew in a breath, feeling the more he thought, the more it made sense.

Instead of speculating by himself, why not ask the God who clearly knows the inside story in front of him?

He revealed a flattering smile akin to Park Changmin’s in the Silent Route Dungeon, ”Your Grace Kristen, can you tell me what the true objective of those destroying the Pillar of the Present World is?”

Kristen slowly replied, ”That is the second problem.”

Wu Chang immediately said, ”Can I get a loan; you tell me the problem first, and I’ll find a similar quality Item later.”

Kristen hesitated for a moment but eventually shook her head.

”Two items!” Wu Chang insisted. His inspiration told him the truth of this matter was tremendously important, not only to him but to the entire world.

”This has nothing to do with Items, but with you. Reaching this point, the outcome of the Pillar of the Present World and the Desolate Realm is already settled, unchangeable, you can’t stop it. Even if that little girl who seizes my Divine Kingdom can’t either.”

”Telling you will only lead to your death. You are interesting, and you shouldn’t die in the Desolate Realm, so I won’t tell you.”

Wu Chang raised an eyebrow and said, ”The outcome is already settled? Really, I don’t believe it.”

Kristen smiled and said, ”Then you can prove it to me.”

”I will.” Wu Chang nodded solemnly. He paused for a moment before finally asking:

”The last question, is this research report so important to you that you would share such confidential intelligence with me.”

Kristen said, ”It isn’t of much use to me; I only told you because I find you interesting.”

”In that case, can I take it away?” Wu Chang asked tentatively.

He is the frugal type of good man; if Kristen doesn’t need it, he can retrieve the Item and trade it with Revelation later.

Kristen: ?

She had never met someone so shameless.

”I don’t need it, but my subordinates can use it. I’ll keep it and look forward to your future performance.”

After Kristen finished speaking, the light and shadow disappeared with a whoosh, along with the ”Report on Miracles and Willpower” on the ground.

With the disappearance of the ritual, Yu Na and a group of followers entered the private chapel. After exchanging pleasantries with Archbishop Yan, Yu Na took Wu Chang away from the stronghold.

Before leaving, Yu Na asked, ”Did you find out the intelligence you wanted to know?”

Wu Chang nodded and then shook his head.

”I learned a part, but the intelligence I learned only made me more confused.”

Yu Na followed up by asking, ”Would you like to come to my place for a while?”

Faced with Yu Na’s invitation, Wu Chang refused, saying, ”That wouldn’t be right; your husband’s head seven hasn’t passed yet, it’s not very appropriate for us to be like this.”

Yu Na flicked a strand of hair behind her head and said with enough allure to attract, ”Do you really think a nouveau riche who joined the cult by sponsorship can truly marry the Bishop of the cult? I married Tang Renquan just to better control his assets and obtain a convenient identity for my actions.”

”Even if he were alive, he’d have to open the door for you.”

Wu Chang swallowed, silently mourning Tang Renquan’s death for a second, but then remembered that guy wasn’t a good person either, feeling instantly that he got what he deserved.

He hesitated for a moment but still declined Yu Na’s invitation. This woman’s level was too high, and this wasn’t a field he excelled at; charging in rashly would get him completely absorbed.

”There are people waiting for me at home. Let’s do it another time, definitely next time.”

In Wanghai City, while Wu Chang used True Self to escort Yu Na to escape and follow her to trade intelligence at the stronghold, Wu Chang’s main body continued to wrap up the pursuit in Wanghai City.

For him, the night was very successful, with gains far exceeding expectations.

But for Director Gao and others, it was not so delightful. They not only failed to capture anyone but also had many Management Bureau members injured by Yu Na, wasting a whole night.

Fortunately, Yu Na focused solely on escaping in the early stages and didn’t go for the kill, so the problem wasn’t significant.

During the wrap-up, True Self had already learned from Kristen about the intelligence, and Wu Chang’s main body naturally approached Director Gao and Meng Yawen and others, asking;

”Director Gao, I just heard you say that the one who escaped is a significant figure among the Evil God followers, whose power exceeds the scope of what Wanghai City’s branch can handle.”

”I have one thing I don’t understand; since Evil God followers are the Management Bureau’s arch-enemies, and our target is a significant figure among the Evil God followers, why didn’t we request support from the Abyss Second Layer players but instead forcibly acted with other cities’ branches?”

Director Gao smiled bitterly and said, ”Do you think I don’t want to? If I could call for support, I would have done so immediately; why would I drag everyone into this fight.”

”This is something you will find out sooner or later, so I won’t hide it from you. From a few days ago, the Bureau has already lost contact with the Abyss Second Layer.”
