Beast Taming: the More the Better

Chapter 85: Chapter 85 Photosynthesis (Perfection)

Su Ping’s eyes were bloodshot. Over the past few days, he had slept for less than ten hours in total. Today, he had barely closed his eyes when he was awakened again. Old Sha’s condition became increasingly peculiar as the effectiveness of its Photosynthesis continued to climb. Under such circumstances, even with the recording capabilities of a camera, Su Ping couldn’t fully trust it. This was true even though the Myriad Spirit Beast Atlas contained perfect cultivation Secret Techniques and Magic Potion formulas without any flaws.

But this was Evolution! And it was a particularly dangerous Evolution, not the kind where one could still be at peace if it failed.

Therefore, he had to watch it personally, ensuring Old Sha wouldn’t encounter any problems before he could rest assured. This was especially true at this crucial juncture.

However, aside from the first awakening of Photosynthesis, and the two subsequent Level advancements that brought it to the Mastery Level, Old Sha’s Heart of Woods hadn’t experienced any more special changes. This allowed Su Ping to breathe a slight sigh of relief.

Previous calculations indicated that the Heart of Woods had indeed formed a very special supply relationship with Photosynthesis and Sunlight Absorption. Based on the experience Su Ping had accumulated these past few days, he suspected some mysterious changes might be hidden within. But at this critical point in the Evolution, he really didn’t want any unexpected problems to emerge.

”Old Sha, how do you feel?”

Su Ping had spent these past few days with Old Sha under the sunlight, and compared to before, he even seemed slightly darker. However, Su Ping clearly didn’t have the leisure to care about that at this moment.

A low sound emanated from Old Sha. Its body remained motionless, yet it seemed as if countless mouths all over it were constantly breathing. At the same time, its originally cyan fur seemed to be shifting towards Xiao Qing’s coloration. Over these past few days, its fur had gained a touch of vibrant green. However, unlike Xiao Qing’s green, which harbored a beautiful but deadly poison, Old Sha’s was entirely like sunlit, brightly shimmering leaves. It radiated an indescribable vitality.

Although, for such plant-like, bursting vitality to appear on a creature like a Forest Wolf was, in itself, quite astonishing.

Old Sha’s animalistic traits had diminished substantially over the past few days. If Su Ping hadn’t been constantly by its side, it probably wouldn’t even have been able to make a sound in response. Because ’plants’ do not make sounds. Only Su Ping, its ever-present master, could restore its animalistic vitality.

This was what Su Ping cared about most. He certainly wanted to help Old Sha evolve, become stronger, and extend its lifespan, but what he wanted was a lively Old Sha, not a wolf-shaped wooden wolf.

Sensing Old Sha’s feedback, Su Ping let out a slight breath. He could wait no longer. This period had been one of the most torturous in his life. After all, Old Sha was not like his own Soul Contract Pet Beast in the Beast Taming Space, whose condition and state he could sense at any moment through their Soul Contract. The situation had him eating poorly and sleeping restlessly.

Even without Old Sha’s feedback, Su Ping was ready to try.

So, he slowly took out an item.

Even under the bright daylight, this object still emanated an unparalleled brilliance, instantly capturing Old Sha’s full attention. A call from deep within its bloodline made Old Sha feel an indescribable longing! It wanted this object!

It was none other than the Sun Crystal.

The Sun Crystal, of course, wasn’t a fragment split from the sun hanging high above. If that were the case, forget Monarch Level beings, even Emperor Level ones would likely be overwhelmed. The Sun Crystal was formed from transformed Earth Element that, after prolonged exposure to abundant sunlight, had absorbed a massive amount of solar energy. It was also the most precious of the materials currently in Su Ping’s possession.

This item, worth tens of millions, perhaps even several tens of millions, was nevertheless casually extended by Su Ping and offered to Old Sha’s mouth. In Su Ping’s heart, anything that could be measured by money and value couldn’t compare to family like Old Sha. This naturally included a mere Monarch Level resource.

Looking at the Sun Crystal brought to its mouth, Old Sha, if this were before, would definitely have wondered how to eat such a glowing clod of earth, and if it was even edible. Now, however, with Photosynthesis continuously working inside its body, Old Sha’s craving for the Sun Crystal was extremely urgent. Without a second thought, it snapped the crystal into its mouth.

CRUNCH! CRUNCH!

The crisp chewing sounds echoed as light spilled from the gaps in Old Sha’s great maw, which had not opened to eat for several days.

The scene was extremely eerie, yet Su Ping watched with utmost seriousness. His mental focus sharpened intensely at this moment. If Old Sha couldn’t use the Sun Crystal to elevate its Photosynthesis Level and break through this final bottleneck, then this third stage of Evolution might indeed take some unpredictable turns.

At this thought, Su Ping’s heart grew even more anxious. The past few days of agonizing waiting—days spent almost inseparably accompanying Old Sha as it sunbathed and ate sunflower seeds. Later, when Old Sha slowed its eating, Su Ping had even peeled the seeds for it, soaked them in sunlit spring water, and wiped its body.

Now, it was finally time to see the results.

CRACK. CRACK.

After the last few hard chunks of the Sun Crystal were finally crushed by Old Sha with these crisp sounds, accompanied by a clear GULP, it swallowed them down.

The glow in Old Sha’s mouth vanished. In its place, its eyes closed.

Then, the next moment, a glimmer of light began to steadily ascend. After repeatedly absorbing countless rays of sunlight, it finally reached a pinnacle!

Su Ping sensed that although Old Sha’s mouth and nose were still, it was as if a gigantic vacuum pump was continuously breathing, purifying the world’s oxygen and spiritual energy!

And the next moment, this radiance from Old Sha suddenly spread out. Countless misty points of light surfaced around its body.

Merely standing next to Old Sha, Su Ping felt as if he were in the purest natural forest oxygen bar; the refreshing sensation with every breath was so invigorating that he momentarily couldn’t react.

However, Su Ping knew that in less than ten days, Old Sha had acquired a second Perfection Level Skill!

His gaze locked onto:
