Beast Taming: I Can Add Points

[Pet Beast: Burning Thorn (Thousand-legged Fire Servant)]

Attribute: Fire, Fighting Element

Race: Middle Elite

Real-time Energy Value: 3140]

From the sidelines, Su Zhi subconsciously recognized this type of Pet Beast—he and Fang Yuan had met because of a Fire-Biting Centipede, and the Thousand-legged Fire Servant was its Evolutionary Type!

”Scorching Shroud!”

At You Bin’s command, Burning Thorn reared its head and spat out a huge ring of fire. The ring immediately began to spin at high speed, vaguely forming a fireball that enveloped Xiaolan!

”GU!” Grey Gu assisted from the side, controlling the wind to stoke the flames within the fireball without letting them spread to the surrounding Vines.

”These kinds of Positional Skills all require a specific element to act as a medium. The Wave Messenger’s medium is clearly Water. As long as we can eliminate that medium from a certain area, you won’t be able to maintain your high speed.

”It was just a casual move at first, but I never thought it would perfectly counter your strategy. Heaven is truly on my side...”

Wang Haokun pushed up his glasses, explaining slowly and deliberately. The perpetually tense look on his face finally relaxed, breaking into a victorious smile.

’This victory is in the bag... huh?’

His gaze fell upon the two girls across from him, who were struggling to hold back their laughter. Wang Haokun’s smile froze on his face.

”SCREECH!!”

Then, before he could even process what was happening, a pained cry rang out from above.

The Fire-Biting Centipede had two long gashes on its body, and it was now falling, unconscious. Its hard shell had been sliced open like paper, a gruesome sight.

Wang Haokun’s eyes went wide. ”Shit! How is there an Iron Birch Mantis?!”

You Bin looked completely lost. ”What’s happening...?”

”Get your Cyan Feathered Falcon out of there! Don’t go near those Vines! Grey Gu, you retreat too! Get back!”

”But Brother Kun, there are Vines everywhere! It’s impossible to not get close!”

”SWISH SWISH—”

Before the words were even out of his mouth, two more slashing sounds echoed from mid-air. Both Grey Gu and You Bin’s Cyan Feathered Falcon fell, too injured to get back up.

And in the spot they had just been, a section of ”Vine” slowly changed color, revealing itself to be a giant Iron Birch Mantis. Its bladed arms were still stained with bloody feathers.

”Sigh...” Wang Haokun heaved a long sigh and silently took off his glasses.

Only then did he understand the two girls’ strategy.

The Iron Birch Mantis is a terrifying hunter of the forest, its deadly ambush and stealth capabilities being its most potent weapons. However, an arena that lacks cover is hardly the ideal place for an Iron Birch Mantis to shine.

In this battle, however, the clash between both sides’ Shadow of Ancient Jing had generated a massive amount of plant life, inadvertently creating the perfect environment for the Iron Birch Mantis’s ambush.

Shortly after the match began, Katie had secretly summoned her Iron Birch Mantis. But at the time, the two Shadows of Ancient Jing were clashing head-on, and its pale green summoning Light Array blended in with the myriad of other Skill Light Arrays, so Wang Haokun hadn’t noticed it at all.

Their deliberate refusal to seize the initiative afterward was also a ploy to continue building up more cover, creating the perfect conditions for the Iron Birch Mantis’s final strike...

”MEOW!”

Cyan realized something was wrong, but just as its body prepared to react, Metti’s sharp blade was already at its throat.

”In this environment, against an Iron Birch Mantis, there’s no point in struggling any further... We surrender.”

Wang Haokun shook his head and recalled Cyan to his Beast Taming Space.

”Metti, that was brilliant~” Katie said, stroking under Metti’s jaw.

Metti raised its head, eyes narrowing into slits as its antennae twitched in delight.

The instant their victory was secured, Shao Ya immediately turned and shot a wide grin toward him in the contestant waiting area.

Su Zhi gave her a thumbs-up, mimicking her with an identical wide grin of his own.

Fourth round... Victory to Shao Ya and Katie!

Perhaps fate has a sense of repetition. With the score tied two-all, they once again entered a fated, final, decisive match.

Fated rivals, separated for two months, now stepped onto the same stage once more.

Today, I’m making an exception to recommend a book in the main text: *Star Media Helmsman*. This book is a milestone in the K-pop fanfiction genre, a pioneering, ceiling-raising masterpiece. Regrettably, the author had to put it on hiatus due to illness and recently passed away after being declared brain-dead, unable to give the work a proper conclusion.

And now, after a hiatus of nearly eight years, *Star Media Helmsman* has just been updated with an untitled Chapter.

I don’t personally follow K-pop fiction, but I hope everyone can take a moment to read this Chapter. If you are interested in the genre, it would be even better if you could offer whatever support you can.

What defines a community? Its last embers are glowing right here.
