Bear School Astartes

Lann learned about the form of [Bulk Gold Resin] during his conversation with Lorenzo, and it was only after returning to the Magic Middle Ages that he manually divided several whole bags of [Gold Resin] into small oilcloth packages as bulk.

It’s more convenient and faster to use, but its duration is shorter.

Well, Old Luo is good at everything, just not very personable.

No wonder, despite having great abilities and being reliable and responsible, he only ascended in urgency after the previous leader of the Losric Knight Order died in a rebellion.

The souvenirs were collected by Rong Buqiu himself; he didn’t even show any intention of giving them.

The amount of [Gold Resin] capable of unleashing golden lightning was limited, so Lann could only hand over all the [Superior North Wind] Alchemy Bombs he possessed to the Elf Archers.

Since piecing together most of the treasured alchemy formulas of the Demon Hunters from the archives in Ker Morhan, Lann began synchronizing and upgrading his alchemy reserves.

Sword Oils, Magic Potions, Alchemy Bombs, Decoctions...

In a situation where money wasn’t an issue, his alchemical talent was considered ’commendable,’ so the level of these consumables quickly reached the top.

Lann did not understand Smaug, as the dragons of this world were not natural creatures but war machine races created by Morgoth.

Many of Lann’s experiences couldn’t be directly applied.

However, the fact that dragons cause havoc with their Dragonfire was undoubtedly true.

With high body temperature and heat resistance, the [North Wind], capable of releasing coldness, was the best choice.

Unfortunately, as the situation became more complex between the north and south, Tishaya and Margaret no longer had much time to infuse extra magical frost into Lann’s [North Wind] bombs.

Just like previously in Iwami Country, where a single [North Wind] bomb froze both the Traitorous Ninja Owl and the Earth Spirit [Fire Feather Mist Crow], it was now unlikely.

So, they were just a batch of regularly specified [Superior North Wind].

As the night deepened, the golden sunset first turned red, then disappeared beyond the dark horizon.

Though Lann and Bard were still lighting the lamps in an orderly manner, their minds and spirits slowly tensed up.

After lighting the last pair of lamps along the pathway, Lann lightly jumped onto the roof of an uncollapsed house and gazed northward.

There was not a trace of firelight in the ruins of River Valley City, and it seemed the townsfolk had fully adhered to the instructions given by Bard and him.

This let Lann relax a little.

Bard also stood atop a broken wooden tower, tensely watching the north, though he was looking towards the direction of the Lonely Mountain.

”Look!” Bard suddenly shouted to Lann, leaning his upper body out while stabilizing himself by holding the railing.

”There’s firelight at the Lonely Mountain!”

Indeed, there was firelight, flickering intermittently.

Although the Lonely Mountain was a large mine built inside a mountain, there were still many openings on the outside of the mountain for ventilation.

It was nighttime, and the weather was getting colder; cold mists began to drift over the lake and the mountain again.

The firelight inside the mountain, scattered after passing through the cold mist, turned into a dim, misty glow on the mountain surface.

”What’s the situation now?”

The sound of footsteps as light as falling leaves followed; it was Thranduil leading his Elf Archers to arrive.

The Elf King of the Woodland Kingdom asked in a low voice.

Previously, they were responsible for lighting lamps in another direction and familiarizing themselves with the terrain of Long Lake Town.

Each of them knew that when battling a powerful creature like a dragon, one must make good use of every inch of terrain if not relying on a large army.

Fortunately, this was above Long Lake.

According to Thranduil’s explanation of the world’s mystic theories, the dragon’s firepower was suppressed by the power gathered from the snowy mountains and rivers of Long Lake.

The cold lake water was beneficial terrain for them.

A group of twenty elite Elf Archers, though not panicked, wore expressions of solemnity and deep breaths under their golden helmets.

Although many had lived for thousands of years, who could claim not to be nervous deep down when facing a dragon?

Thranduil wore his exquisite and beautiful silver armor and a cloak with black and silver patterns.

But at this moment, his hand was not resting on the hilt of his long blade but had picked up a bow and arrow.

A composite bow made of unknown wood and silver metal mix.

Facing Thranduil’s inquiry, Bard, though nervous, conveyed everything he saw.

”Intermittent firelight?”

Thranduil murmured softly, frowning.

At this moment, an Elf Archer had the same hopeful mindset as Bard had earlier.

”Perhaps it signifies the dwarves’ success?”

The archer said softly.

”Haven’t we seen that before? The furnace inside the Lonely Mountain operated, smelting countless gold and silver ores, a fire that burned day and night, visible even from Long Lake Town, symbolizing the wealth and prosperity of the Lonely Mountain Kingdom.”

Now that Sorlin Oak Shield led the team to the Lonely Mountain to reclaim the kingdom, there were only two possible outcomes in everyone’s mind.

One was a successful reclamation, the other being the awakening of the dragon and the extermination of the dwarves.

It all depended on whether the news came from the dwarven messengers or the dragon’s flames.

On the broken tower, Bard pursed his lips, looking solemn.

Lann stood beside him in silence.

Thranduil directly shook his head: ”We’ve all seen what Lonely Mountain Kingdom looked like during its prosperity, and we’ve seen how that massive smelting furnace works.”

”That firelight doesn’t just erupt suddenly.”

The voice of the Elf King carried a sense of reason, a calmness born from witnessing bad situations inevitably arise, and then responding composedly.

”Prepare for battle! Follow the plan! Everyone get into their designated positions! Quick!”

After Thranduil issued the order, the twenty elite Elf Archers had no objections.

They silently spread out around Long Lake Town, each finding their shooting positions.

With a heavy thud, much heavier than the elves’ steps but lighter than one might expect for his size, Lann leapt down from the rooftop, landing beside Thranduil.

”Are they all equipped with the things I gave?”

Lann had only a few of the [Advanced North Wind], only five, all given to the elves.

”It’s tricky to attach a ball to the arrow shaft.” Thranduil said expressionlessly, ”But it doesn’t matter, as long as we weigh it in our hands first, attaching it to the arrow afterward is no problem for us.”

”Also, you don’t have to specifically come to talk to me, Yadanisil.”

Thranduil glanced up at Lann beside him.

”I am not afraid of battle, nor will I flee. As long as there is a chance to kill Smaug, I will persist until the end to see the outcome.”

Lann smiled somewhat embarrassedly.

In front of the elves of this world, he still seemed a bit immature.

After all, he had only seen a fraction of the memory spanning thousands of years within the Genetic Seed, pieced together over many generations of Interstellar Warriors.

But the elves of this world, many of them truly have lived for millennia.

No words were needed; everyone clearly understood their combat objective today.

That is — to kill the evil dragon!

Soon, the once distant firelight on Lonely Mountain grew brighter and larger, indicating it was coming closer!

When that firelight finally descended from the mountainside of Lonely Mountain, flying lower, the foot of the mountain and the lakeside of the Long Lake were illuminated with golden brilliance!

Like a small sun!

”I am fire! I am... death!”

A roar, so deep it didn’t sound like it came from a humanoid creature, echoed through the air.

Indeed, it did not come from a humanoid creature’s mouth.

The legend tells that on the day Lonely Mountain and River Valley City were devastated, people did not initially see the figure of the evil dragon but first saw a hurricane!

This depiction in the legend is incredibly accurate.

Smaug’s wings could carry its own weight along with the thick layer of liquid pure gold covering its body forcibly into the sky, flying aloft!

The magnitude of this power is unimaginable!

The evil dragon is Morgoth’s creation, a war machine it crafted shortly after this world’s genesis to face mythical battlefields!

This level of power is only to be expected.

Smaug flew close to the surface of Long Lake, its frightfully brilliant firelight shining through from its chest and throat!

With each flap of its wings, a mighty air pressure left two massive concave, bowl-shaped voids in the lake’s surface, only to be refilled once it flew past.

Again and again its wings flapped, spraying the lake water every which way, disrupting normal fluid patterns completely!

Waves in this inland lake, accumulated over time, seemed like turbulent seas!

As the evil dragon approached, its dark and malevolent power began to change the surrounding atmosphere.

The once peacefully hanging full moon was now shrouded by dense clouds, and even the stars scattered across the night sky were obscured.

The sky over Long Lake Town suddenly turned gloomy.

Gloomy and restless.

Like latent dangerous flames!

The distant orange-red fireball that had descended from Lonely Mountain flew low above the lake surface at first.

Where it passed, waves surged, and its flying speed carved a hideous trail through the water’s surface.

As the orange-red fireball neared Long Lake Town, only then did it suddenly soar upwards!

The ascent brought a massive surge of air currents, which crazily rushed through the streets and buildings of Long Lake Town.

Even blowing away several nearby houses! Tiles and wooden walls flew into the sky like gravel, shattering into splinters, raining down with a crackling sound!

Then, slowing after its ascent, the orange-red fireball revealed the shadow-covered, slender and menacing tail hidden behind the flames.

Like razor-sharp dragon wings and an evil, fierce dragon head mounted on a long, slender neck!

The evil dragon Smaug!

It wasn’t out of kindness or mercy that this ferocious beast slowed near Long Lake Town.

It ascended and slowed down simply to... meticulously ravage Long Lake Town with dragon fire!

”Roar!!!”

In the oppressive black night, amidst the misty cold fog, Smaug’s silhouette flashed over the town.

Only the orange-red dragon fire shooting and spreading from its mouth shone brightly, dazzling!
