Chapter 877: Chapter 860: Two Red Lights

Rong Buqiu is considered a seasoned warrior and adventurer.

After all, the New Continent is full of all sorts of bizarre and outrageous creatures, and it has been exploring there for several years.

Yet even such a warrior who should be resilient and an Elu Cat whose race generally has an optimistic and cheerful nature, became restless after staying in the darkness of this world for some time.

Lann somewhat understood the obsession and faith that people in this world have towards the so-called [fire].

If there were no fire and light, would there really be no way for life to exist in this world?

”You cannot stay alone anymore.”

Lann said while stroking the Qilin’s nose, soothing its mind.

”There are many strange things in this world. I think accepting a talking cat and a very tall horse should not be a problem. Later, say you got separated from me in this forest.”

”Sorry, meow...”

Rong Buqiu lowered its head on Lann’s shoulder, looking somewhat ashamed.

”We can’t even hide properly, meow.”

”It’s not your fault.” Lann patted the tabby cat’s little head, his eyes fixed on the distant deep darkness.

”It’s this world at fault. The Lady of the Lake was right; we need to be more cautious.”

”Let’s go.”

Lann led Rong Buqiu and Qilin, fetching a bucket of water from the pond, and then walked toward the large bonfire of the camp.

But just when he held the bucket, guiding the magic horse harness, with the water inside making a ’splash’ sound with each step...

A sound of rippling water not in sync with their footsteps came from behind them.

Lann and the Qilin noticed first, then Rong Buqiu.

Accompanied by something moving in the shallow pond, stirring waves, and the sound of an iron chain shaking.

A sudden, and violent shaking sound!

”Splash! Awooo!”

Amidst the enemy’s roar, the Qilin swiftly carried Rong Buqiu on its back to dodge aside.

The thing attacking was patient like a wolf, using the muffled footsteps and water sound to conceal itself, and only burst into a sprint at close range.

Moreover, its explosive power was indeed outstanding.

From the time Lann relied on his senses to detect it, to the iron chain sound approaching, the speed was frightening!

Without thinking, Lann turned his body in sync with the Qilin’s dodge.

In his view, besides the deep darkness, there were two blood-red eyes, swaying endlessly and leaving residual light trails in the dark!

”Boom! Splash~”

Without pausing, the bucket in his hand swung directly onto the incoming enemy’s face!

The wooden bucket shattered, and from it, water splashed over their head and face.

Yet, Lann was still touched by the opponent.

The darkness was deep, and the enemy was unusual.

”The hand of this guy...”

Feeling the grip force from the shoulder guard, Lann frowned slightly.

When the bucket hit the enemy’s face, Mentos judged the distance between the enemy’s head and Lann based on the contact time after the throw.

Mentos also deduced the enemy should be humanoid.

Because the light was too dim, Lann had to use this method to determine the distance from the enemy.

But despite Mentos’ calculation, the enemy still touched Lann when he should have been in a safe range.

This meant its hand was disproportionately long!

And it was strong!

After grabbing Lann’s shoulder, the enormous hand force pushed Lann’s boots backward on the muddy pond bank by over two meters!

Then, those two red lights in the darkness swiftly closed in on Lann’s head!

Restrained by dual hands and then a head approaching... Lann knew exactly what the guy was going to do.

”Got some good teeth, huh?”

Shoulders grabbed, wanting to move both upper arms meant wrestling with the enemy.

Not to mention whether he could win the wrestle, even if he did, the restricted arms would inevitably be late, missing the target.

Feeling that unknown huge mouth coming toward his head, though his upper arms were temporarily restrained, the Demon Hunter’s expression remained calm and composed.

”You think I can’t deal with you without drawing a sword? Hah!”

If moving the upper arms would be late, then don’t use them!

The Demon Hunter simply raised his forearms, grabbing the enemy’s hand holding his shoulder, or rather the hairless claw.

Meanwhile, on his right leg, under a special technique, a circle of air like a protective shield enveloped his entire lower leg.

[Fairy Peak Kick]!

With a ”boom” sound, air wrapped around the body, colliding with the enemy’s body.

The sound was dull and crisp, making one involuntarily imagine how deep and badly this force could hurt within the body.

The dense darkness made it impossible for Lann to see the specific location of the enemy’s limbs, but since it was humanoid, logically, there was no way to stabilize the balance after a sweeping kick!

The mouth that was originally biting towards Lann’s head suddenly missed due to destabilized balance.

Between closing the mouth, there was a clanking ’crunch’ sound as if iron gates were snapping shut.

Such biting force wouldn’t spare bones, even a solid steel rod could probably snap into pieces!

But in front of the Demon Hunter...

”You bit my hair, you bastard!”

Some strands of silver hair, blown upwards due to leaning backward, were bitten off by that mouth.

Afterward, Lann used gentle and precise force control on the enemy’s hands he was grabbing.

Following the disrupted balance of the enemy by his own doing, and the force of forward bite, Lann didn’t even rely on the power of the upper arms.

With just two forearms, he directly threw this enemy, estimated to be as tall as himself, behind him!

”Boom!!!”

Back when in Reed Country, fighting against the National Guardian Sword Saint, the old fellow used various tricks!

He then began to delve into wrestling due to insufficient strength in old age, which was also extensively used.

Unfortunately, these techniques in front of Lann, after a few times, had no room to play anymore.

Behind Lann at this moment was the camp, and when the two points of red light intensified in the enemy’s eyes, the warriors and the archbishop in the camp had already noticed the commotion here.

Thrown behind by Lann’s [Seoi Nage], finally the enemy was exposed to the firelight, separated from the abnormal darkness of this world.

It was an extremely deformed ’person’, similar to Mentos’s calculation.

With a shriveled and elongated form, fingers almost reached the ankles.

Wearing a dirty burlap that leaks wind everywhere, with a wooden rack tied like a criminal on its back using an iron chain. Shackles on its hands and feet, resulting in the chain shaking sound.

Underneath the filthy burlap covering half its face, the mouth was dried and torn. Opened wide enough to fit an entire human skull!

If the wrestling technique is well-used, it’ll be just like Lann now.

Only using two forearm muscles and a sweep kick, tossing this fellow out sprawled.

The impact force from this wrestling seemed extraordinarily large, the entire body landed on its back.

The wooden rack on its back, along with its body, slammed against the wet, soft ground deeply embedded by the force!

Due to the initial forward force, it didn’t stay long in the pit when it landed, soon rolling out from it pulled by the momentum.

But this guy was practically like a mad dog, with its scrawny elongated limbs gripping everywhere, kicking up mud as it did, it finally restored its combat stance from the disturbance of imbalance and the pain of the throw.
