Be Gentle, My Master

Baili Xia became more and more frightened, wanting Mu Xiaojiu to let her down.

But Mu Xiaojiu held her even tighter, the pace which had slowed down, accelerated significantly due to her struggles.

Even though she could clearly sense Uncle’s weakness, his arms were still so strong.

As long as he was determined not to let go, Baili Xia couldn’t break free from his grip.

But the more he did this, the more worried she became.

What on earth had happened to him?

Thinking back, she hadn’t had the chance to look back at him once since leaving the cave.

Initially, she thought Uncle just found her too slow, but now, thinking about it, wasn’t the change in his attitude too drastic?

He was fine before in the cave.

What was wrong exactly?

Could it be, that snake…

“Uncle!” This time, she was truly terrified!

“Uncle, did you get bitten by a snake? Uncle, I’m begging you, put me down!”

The man still held her tightly, showing no signs of loosening his grip at all.

“Uncle…”

“I won’t let go.” He finally spoke, yet as she couldn’t see, the dark blood at the corner of his lips slipped down as he opened his mouth.

“Shut up, don’t move, I can… bear it better this way.”

His voice was as hoarse as gravel crushed by a wheel.

Faint and gravelly, if her hearing had been any worse, she definitely wouldn’t have heard him.

But, after hearing these words, her struggles stopped instantly.

This man…

he always followed through on his words.

He said he wouldn’t let go, and indeed, he wouldn’t before they met up with the people from the hotel.

The more she struggled, the harder it was for him.

As he said, if she didn’t move, it would be more bearable for him.

Yet by now, she was one hundred percent certain, he really had been bitten by that venomous snake while trying to save her.

No wonder she had faintly sensed the smell of blood and venom back then.

She thought it was just her mind playing tricks, as her head was too heavy and the shock was too severe.

After all, he showed no sign of injury, nor did he grunt in pain, and not once did his complexion change.

She thought he was fine…

Uncle had once again masked everything with his stoicism…

“Please, put me down, I need to see you, Uncle, please.”

She didn’t dare to move, still snugly nestled in his arms, afraid that any movement might worsen his injury.

Mu Xiaojiu, however, continued to refuse to speak half a word, perhaps, not because he didn’t want to, but because, opening his mouth again might cause him to cough up blood.

Baili Xia clenched her fists tightly, even though she hardly had any strength left herself.

Everything in her sight began to blur.

This man, this fool, he thought that all his arrangements were what was best for her.

Perhaps, his decisions were never wrong.

But did he ever consider that often his so-called “infallible” decisions were outrageously wrong to her?

“Uncle,” Baili Xia bit her lip, and tears finally slid down, “if you insist on continuing this way, I don’t have the power to stop you, but still, I want to tell you that if… if you die here today, I will follow you, to the ends of the earth.”

The arms that held her tightened abruptly.

“If you die, I surely won’t live alone.”

“Uncle, please, stop, give yourself and give me a chance to live…”
