Arcane Academy: The Divine Extraction Legacy

Chapter 1267: True Purpose

Vale really wanted to use his Slave Mark on him, but unfortunately, Johan’s body was already restricted or sealed. If he tried using a powerful slave spell on him, Johan would simply die and would not be put under his control.

With that in consideration, he could only interrogate the man.

“Azure Sky Academy… That’s already enough.” Vale muttered as he waved his hand before the man was swallowed by darkness.

Anyway, since Johan was already a Half-Immortal, he didn’t really have to worry about the backlash that he’d suffer. After all, Johan himself had broken the forbidden rule and attacked a mortal.

For now, Vale did not immediately act against the Headmaster of Azure Sky Academy.

Dorian would die for sure, but he wanted the truth first.

He also didn’t want to act here in the city since Sabrina might hold him accountable…

No matter what, Vale was still an Earth Immortal while Sabrina was a Sky Immortal or even higher.

Still, as the event ended, academies began returning to their countries.

Even Marshall Academy boarded their airship, proud of Ruth’s victory.

Vale congratulated her personally, handing her a pouch of Divine Crystals and granting her permission to challenge the Rune Arts Tower as much as she wished.

“Wow! Thank you, Master!” Ruth’s eyes sparkled as Vale had placed a limit on the Tower to avoid congestion and also give more Rune Arts Practitioners a chance at greatness.

Vale only nodded. “You earned it. Use the crystals wisely.”

Then, as Marshall Academy departed, Vale remained behind.

He had unfinished business after all.

It didn’t take that long before he finally saw it… Just three days later, the Azure Sky Academy’s airship finally rose into the skies. Vale had been waiting.

“What a bad luck… I have to find a way to avoid his anger….” Dorian, the Headmaster, muttered.

Apparently, he had deliberately left late, ensuring all other academies had departed before him for a reason.

He was disappointed since his plan was ruined, and he would have to report failure to the mysterious immortal who had backed him.

He had underestimated the young prodigies and their forbidden spells. He had not expected Johan, the half‑immortal he hired, to be defeated so easily under the rules.

“That Rune is cheating … It’s like it’s made for the Competition.”

Inside the airship, Dorian reclined, trying to relax.

But suddenly, the world shifted.

Whom~

His surroundings became still as if the airship faded into emptiness.

‘W-what’s going on here? Are we under attack?’

He felt as though he had stepped into a void. He immediately felt scared!

A dark figure stood before him.

“Sir Immortal… Wait… You’re–

Vale.

Dorian’s eyes widened. “You…”

Vale also realized that Dorian seemed to have mistaken him for another Immortal, and it was already great information…

But as expected, as soon as he tried scanning for his soul and spirit, he realized that the man had also received sealings.

Once he tried the Slave Mark or anything that alters the mind, the sealing would break and ultimately kill Dorian and the process.

‘That person is thorough…’ Vale mused.

In the end, he had to rely on asking questions and, of course, intimidation.

“What happened, Dorian? Why manipulate the Battle Royale? I don’t think you’re that desperate for a single Sovereign Artifact. Which Immortal is helping you?”

As he said this, he realized his Deathly Energy, as he appeared like an incarnation of Death.

Dorian clenched his fists and shook his head.

He wanted to just deny everything, but looking at Vale, there was no way an “I don’t know” would work.

“Please spare me… It seemed foolish but you wouldn’t understand. We were promised power… promised ascension. The immortal guiding us said that if we succeeded, they’ll give us Divine Essence!”

Vale frowned… “You believed that?”

Dorian’s lips trembled. “He is no ordinary immortal. He is a Void Immortal. His presence distorts space itself! Even if we have doubts, what can we do?”

Vale’s eyes narrowed. ‘Void Immortal… so that’s the hand behind this.’

Still, he was amazed that Dorian would cooperate this easily. It was impressive.

It seemed that the man didn’t really want to die at all costs.

“Did you summon the Void Immortal from another realm?” Vale asked.

“N-no… Not really…” Dorian’s voice broke…

“We had no choice! The Azure Sky Academy has fallen behind. The Void Immortal offered us salvation. He also provided artifacts, knowledge, and, soon, ascension and dominion, if we proved ourselves. Johan was only the beginning…”

Vale had enough…

From the darkness, an artifact manifested. It was a black belt.

[ Sable Mourning Bell ]

[ Grade: Immortal Artifact ]

[ Effects:

Eclipse Toll: Temporarily nullifies spellcasting within 300 meters.

Spectral Chain Ringing: Creates chains that bind spiritual beings and crush their astral forms.

Hymn of Damnation: A soul‑piercing pulse that triggers torment and hallucinations. ]

The bell tolled once.

The sound was not heard with ears but felt in the soul.

“Aaacckk!”

Soon, Dorian screamed as the Hymn of Damnation activated. His spirit convulsed, and he saw himself chained in the void! His body was being crushed by spectral bindings, and his soul was being pierced by pulses of agony.

“Stop! Please!” Dorian clawed at his chest, his artifacts and other protections were useless against an Immortal Artifact!

Vale’s expression remained cold. “You’ve gone too far. Pitting a Half-Immortal against 15-year-old kids isn’t something a Headmaster would do.”

Dorian writhed… “I’ll tell you everything! Just stop this!”

Vale let the bell’s hymn for a while, forcing him to the brink of despair.

Soon, Dorian’s eyes rolled back…

He wanted death, begged for it, but Vale did not grant it.

Finally, Vale spoke. “Tell me what the Void Immortal wants…”

Dorian gasped… “I don’t… He… he seeks anchors. He wants more Void Immortals to descend fully into this world!”

Vale felt satisfied with this answer.

He lowered the bell slightly, though its chains still bound Dorian’s soul.

“You will live, Dorian. But you will live in torment…”

Thud!

Just like that, Dorian collapsed as his spirit was broken.

Vale turned away with his cloak dissolving into the void.

‘The Void Immortal, huh…’

The bell tolled once more, sealing Dorian’s agony completely…

And then Vale vanished, leaving the headmaster to suffer in silence.

‘I guess I should send them to the new realm now…’
