Apocalyptic Wasteland Simulator

Chapter 60: Final Battle! Holy Spirit Sect Legion VS Celestial Palace No. 1 Mechanical Battleship
Compared to the crowded conditions inside the base, to say it was crowded outside the defensive perimeter would be an understatement. From a distance, the Black Demon Army swarmed over the land like a black tide, a fearsome sight that seemed to dye the very ground black, even changing the color of the lush green forest.

In the sky, giant eagles spread their wings and circled above Spirit Beast Island, surrounded by countless other winged insects and birds. Some high-level Beast Tamers lay prone on their beasts, constantly surveying their surroundings.

The number of Black Demons on Spirit Beast Island had already exceeded the island’s capacity, forcing some to spill over into the sea near the shore. The defensive laser cannons positioned around the island lit up, ready for battle at a moment’s notice. Even for a faction not known for its mechanical prowess, they possessed several large exoskeleton armor suits.

Too fast. It’s simply too fast.

If I follow the development plan for my divine self, then in two years, this terrifyingly powerful Holy Spirit Sect Legion will be mine.

Chen Pingchuan glanced again at himself and Black Demon No. 1, then at his shabby rental. Although he was no longer short on Federation Coins, his current ambitions were limited to getting a new house, a new car, and buying a few shops to improve his life. Everything in the simulation felt so distant.

”Aren’t I just a loser?”

”A loser is always a loser. You were given all this money, a cheat system, everything you could possibly need, and you’re still not aiming higher. Who else is there to blame?”

Black Demon No. 1 snorted, its nostrils tickled by the hot air from its master’s sigh. The sound naturally interrupted Chen Pingchuan’s muttering.

A bitter smile appeared on Chen Pingchuan’s face. He felt his emotions were becoming too volatile. If this continued, he was afraid he would go mad and become a lunatic.

He really needed to rest. Even if the apocalypse came, what did it have to do with him? He just needed to live his own life.

”Who do you think you are, some kind of saint?”

Chen Pingchuan continued to berate himself, trying to drill the idea into his own head. For the first time, his reason and emotions were in conflict.

Unable to make sense of it all right now, Chen Pingchuan continued the simulation. He wanted to see if his divine self could escape the pursuit of Celestial Palace No. 1 this time. As for why they were looking for me, was the reason even important?

When the appointed time arrived, Ji Hongxiu had not given the other party any reply. Unsurprisingly, half a day later, the iron-gray mechanical warship tore through the sky like an ancient behemoth, surrounded by a dense, countless escort of smaller aircraft.

Before the mechanical warship could descend over Spirit Beast Island, it was met with a fierce barrage. All kinds of powerful, long-range weapons—missiles, lasers, and explosives—opened fire, battering the warship’s external energy shield until it hummed and vibrated.

Standing not far from you, Ji Hongxiu tells you this situation is normal. As the defenders, you have a positional advantage. By the time they are directly over Spirit Beast Island, their energy shields will be on the verge of collapse.

Ji Hongxiu also mentions that as defenders, you can jam the targeting systems of the enemy’s nuclear missiles. If they were to drop such a weapon of mass destruction on your heads, it would be an act of mutual destruction.

You pat Ji Hongxiu’s head to soothe her excitement, noticing that she isn’t afraid of war. In fact, she seems to be enjoying it. It was impossible to reconcile this heroic female general with the frail, abused fox-girl from before. They seemed like two entirely different people.

There wasn’t much time left for you and Ji Hongxiu. The mechanical warship had already reached the airspace above Spirit Beast Island, its shadow blanketing the island like a massive mountain. Yet, not a single member of the Holy Spirit Sect showed any fear; their eyes burned only with fanaticism.

With a sharp CRACK, the battle erupted. Phalanxes of Mechanical Warriors, mechanical hounds, and medium-sized Mecha Warriors were deployed by being dropped from the mechanical warship onto Spirit Beast Island.

Unlike in the City of No Night, the Mechanical Team suffered heavy losses as they landed. Fortunately, the warship carried mechanical warriors numbering in the hundreds of thousands, so it had no fear of such attrition.

As the battle commenced, the sky became a chaotic battlefield for flying beasts and their Beast Tamers. They constantly shot down armed aircraft descending from the warship while simultaneously dodging blasts from its energy cannons. The opposing forces returned fire in kind.

On the ground, formations of mechanical infantry advanced relentlessly. However, the swarming Black Demon Army ignored their attacks. Even when taking heavy damage, they felt no fear and continued to charge the Mechanical Warrior legions. Meanwhile, humans hid among the demons, ambushing the mechanical beings.

The entire Spirit Beast Island had transformed into a colossal meat grinder. The number of living beings and machines on the battlefield was steadily dwindling. The sky itself seemed to be soaked in blood, dyed a shocking crimson.

”The battle has really started!”

Chen Pingchuan could only feel how fickle fate was. In the last simulation, it had also been Celestial Palace No. 1, but they had been the ones slaughtering the City of No Night. This time, it was still Celestial Palace No. 1, but it seemed they could no longer rely on overwhelming force.

You may be strong, but there will always be someone just as strong, and someone stronger still. That’s just the way of the world.

The flames of war quickly reached the high tower where you were. Several passing reconnaissance planes were casually swatted from the sky by Ji Hongxiu, but your position had been exposed to Celestial Palace No. 1.

The mechanical warship floating in the sky opened another hatch, and several figures wreathed in colorful light flew out.

You used your probing skill on one of them. You weren’t sure why you chose him; some instinct just told you to pick him. Looking at his profile, you felt a sense of familiarity: Xiao Tianquan, adjutant of the Demon-breaking Celestial Soldiers.

Xiao Tianquan and his two companions quickly descended upon the Blood Beast Ban Order Base within Spirit Beast Island, clearly confident in their strength. As you watched the two Mecha Warriors clad in azure and fiery red armor, the scene felt oddly familiar.

The three landed at three different points within the base. As soon as they touched down, the massive mechanical behemoth in the sky, which had been silent until now, launched three massive metal crates toward their positions.

As their metal plates unfolded automatically, they crushed many Holy Spirit Sect disciples who couldn’t escape in time. You had no time to mourn them, however; the giant Mechas, towering dozens of meters high, were a much more pressing problem.

Before you could speak, Major General Hu, standing near Ji Hongxiu, picked out the smaller of the Mechas—the one belonging to Xiao Tianquan—and charged. Major General Hu moved swiftly, but Xiao Tianquan was just as fast. The two quickly engaged in combat.

Looking at the two colossal red and blue Mechas, Ji Hongxiu’s expression changed slightly. She bit her lip and, looking at your back, said, ”I don’t regret it.” Then, without further hesitation, she instantly transformed into a twenty to thirty-meter-tall Six-Tailed Demon Fox and clashed with the opposing Mechas.

The scene... the scene... the scene...
