Apocalyptic Disaster: The King of Soldiers' Ultimate Pampering

26: Chapter 26 Temporary Settlement Site”Joining you means going directly to loot the food in the building under the pretense of stockpiling it to eat together. But as for how it’s distributed and how much each person gets, isn’t that just up to you?”

In fact, the people in the building weren’t that stupid; those following Zhao Degang could also understand the meaning behind Huo Sixian’s words. However, because they had no food of their own, Zhao Degang’s method was indeed the only way to fill their stomachs in the current situation.

So everyone turned a blind eye and followed Zhao Degang to force those who still had food in the building to hand it over.

Originally, the people in this building had seen the residents of Unit 321 moving supplies up and down just as the Typhoon arrived.

But when they saw that Unit 321 had the combat power of five trained martial artists, they all chickened out. The Post-Apocalyptic World had only just begun, and right now everyone was just trying to get a bite to eat; there was no need to risk their lives and take a beating for it.

Furthermore, with the examples of Lin Wanrou and Fu Peisheng, everyone in the building knew that the 32nd floor not only had five trained fighters but also a Female Devil who hit incredibly hard. Anyone who encountered that Female Devil would end up beaten black and blue.

Ye Qingqing saw everything happening in the hallway through the room’s peephole and couldn’t help but feel lucky that five trained fighters lived in Unit 321.

Little did she know, Ye Qingqing’s state of mind now was completely different from when she first saw those people.

On the 15th day of the Typhoon, Ye Qingqing discovered that the Typhoon outside had weakened—it had really weakened. Although it was still there, if a person went out, they wouldn’t be blown away.

Ye Qingqing’s heart, eager for some ’zero-dollar shopping,’ began to stir.

If I don’t go out now, when will I?

But just as this thought popped into Ye Qingqing’s head, a helicopter floated past the window.

There were even inflatable boats in the water.

They were all shouting through megaphones: ”Attention all residents, attention all residents! A Temporary Relocation Point has been built. Residents in need, please pack your things within 2 hours!”

”Please note! Each person should carry no more supplies than one backpack.”

When this news arrived, the entire building erupted in excitement because it meant that the country had not abandoned them.

Even though Zhao Degang was leading people to loot the food in the building and distribute it to everyone, there were simply too many mouths in the building.

Relying on the building’s stockpiled grain was simply not enough to eat—not enough at all.

So when the residents in the building heard there was a rescue, they all shed tears of joy.

Especially those living in the corridors and hallways.

Ye Qingqing loosened her muscles and felt it was time to head out.

Ye Qingqing took a Kayak out of her space. She had originally wanted to use an inflatable boat, but unfortunately, the sound of an inflatable boat was a bit too loud.

After changing into a set of tight-fitting, easy-to-move-in, and waterproof clothes, Ah Huang saw Ye Qingqing’s movements.

He whimpered and whined, wanting to go out and play. Seeing Ah Huang, Ye Qingqing felt helpless.

She leaned down, rubbed Ah Huang’s puppy head, and said apologetically, ”Ah Huang, I can’t take you out yet. Look, it’s all flooded outside, and it’s very dangerous to go out now.”

As a dog, Ah Huang was a very smart one. He looked out the window and finally went to the treadmill with a whimper, gesturing for Ye Qingqing to turn it on for him.

When Ye Qingqing left, she carried a large black hiking backpack on her back, which looked bulging and full.

The elevator was no longer working, so the only way in and out was via the stairs in the emergency exit.

As soon as she opened the door, Ye Qingqing smelled a very pungent odor.

It was like the smell of human waste after it had fermented.

In her previous life, although Ye Qingqing had experienced the Typhoon, she hadn’t encountered a flood, so everything regarding human eating, drinking, and bathroom needs had remained relatively normal.

She really hadn’t expected the emergency exit to be such a scene.

Ye Qingqing originally wanted to take a gas mask out of her space to wear, but then she felt it was really unnecessary and would only invite jealousy and hatred.

Helplessly, she could only take out face masks to wear. However, one mask wasn’t quite enough; she wore three masks in a row before she felt the surrounding air was more bearable.

This was still on the 32nd floor. Ye Qingqing couldn’t believe what kind of scene the emergency exit would be if she went further down.

Ye Qingqing was still holding the inflatable Kayak. She had originally thought about inflating it and going straight down, but looking at it now, she decided against it.

Checking that no one was around, she directly put the Kayak into her space and took out an uninflated one. She would inflate the Kayak once she reached the ground floor.

Ye Qingqing was afraid the Kayak would get stained with something unclean.

As Ye Qingqing expected, the further down the emergency exit she went, the heavier the smell became.

Because the residents living in the hallways had nowhere to live, trash was easy enough to handle—they just threw it into the water—but for waste, especially urine, they just relieved themselves wherever it was convenient.

And the emergency exit was a very convenient place to deposit waste.

Ye Qingqing felt somewhat lucky that she had worn a pair of boots when she left. Otherwise, stepping on this filth would have certainly made her skin crawl.

However, Ye Qingqing didn’t plan on wearing these boots again; she would throw them away directly after using them today. Ye Qingqing felt a bit bad about it in her heart.

This was truly a test of one’s mental fortitude.

When she reached the 15th floor, the emergency exit began to get lively.

Some were busy moving things and packing luggage, presumably waiting for rescue from The Authorities.

Actually, in her previous life, the government had also provided rescue, but at that time, because of the Typhoon, many granaries had been destroyed and many buildings had been damaged.

After The Authorities’ rescue arrived, they also took the residents to some hotel buildings that had been temporarily cleared out.

However, there were simply too many people needing rescue. Even a hotel building—how many residents could it actually hold?

And food was also an issue. Many residents who moved into the temporary rescue sites later clamored to leave.

Being rescued wasn’t as good as finding food for oneself outside.

If you found food yourself, you could at least get a bite to eat. In The Authorities’ rescue sites, being able to eat one full meal a day was considered good.

So Ye Qingqing did not plan to join the commotion.

When she walked down to the 13th floor, Ye Qingqing ran into two acquaintances.

”Ye Qingqing!” Hearing the familiar yet unfamiliar voice coming from the side, Ye Qingqing didn’t even react for a moment.

Because it had only been a short time since they last met, the Fu Peisheng before her looked like a completely different person, and Lin Wanrou was nowhere to be seen.

Fu Peisheng, with one arm in a sling, walked aggressively toward Ye Qingqing.
