Chapter 1229: Chapter 939: Instruction

What the hell!

He tapped his ear incredulously: Why say the most cowardly words with the fiercest aura!

Wait, isn’t there something off about your plot?

”Uh—”

Huai Shi awkwardly asked, puzzled, ”Aren’t you guys here for a challenge?”

”Observing etiquette is part of Church protocol.”

Aleksey coughed and looked seriously at the trainees: ”Maintain your image, Anton.”

”Cough cough, well... usually when a skilled person comes along, everyone sizes them up before acting.”

Anton’s gaze drifted, ”If it’s someone arrogant, we usually choose someone who can take a beating to provoke them, and then give up before the opponent gets serious. After satisfying their desire to win or lose, we can take the chance to ask for guidance.

Uh, cough cough, everyone says Mr. Huai Shi is easygoing, and will certainly not refuse if pleaded honestly.”

This ’everyone’ you’re talking about, is it the Father Aleksey right beside me whom you keep sneaking peeks at?

Huai Shi looked to the side.

Aleksey grew even more embarrassed, coughed twice, and said apologetically, ”It’s a rare opportunity, and young people tend to be unaware of their limits. It’s great that you’ve come to teach them a lesson.”

”...Alright then.”

Huai Shi’s eye twitched twice, nodding helplessly.

Whoever said the Russian Federation people are all big and clumsy, when it comes to scheming, they’re not lacking in cunning...

”So, could you provide some guidance?” Aleksey’s smile became even more enthusiastic.

”Well, how should I guide?”

Huai Shi scratched his head.

An open class on the Slavic Great Sword’s traditional beheading method?

”No worries, just give some casual pointers.” Aleksey turned back and glared at Anton: ”Hurry up and get ready!”

In an instant, a group of burly men nodded excitedly, and quickly cleared the center ring.

Upon hearing the news that the renowned Sword of Disaster came to give guidance, the entire underground training ground magically filled with people, surrounding it until not a gap was left.

Some even excitedly pulled out their phones to start filming.

Doesn’t it suddenly feel like I’ve started an album release conference?

Huai Shi scratched his head.

After taking off his shoes, he stepped into the central ring.

When it comes to guidance, it’s essentially still fighting, but one must also enable others to improve and gain something, so you can’t topple them instantly; control is instead crucial.

Controlling yourself not to defeat your opponent in an instant, meanwhile controlling your opponent to let him realize his own shortcomings.

In that case, Source Techniques shouldn’t be used, otherwise it’d be bullying kids a bit too much.

And when Aleksey handed over a teaching Slavic Broadsword and protective equipment, Huai Shi was rendered helpless.

”I’m not skilled with these at all, it’s really outside the scope of what I can teach...”

The size, center of gravity change, and design of the weapon all affect the specific application and suitable situation. For example, a stabbing sword works well in duels, but don’t count on it against an opponent with armor. A long spear’s length can be unrivaled, but facing a sword and shield it’s at a disadvantage...

Region, style, even considering the user’s own height weight and strength, these different conditions induce countless differences.

The size of the Sword of Virtue is within the realm of hand-and-a-half swords, and Huai Shi has indeed never studied this heavy weapon, if he were to use it, it’d be with the big hammer technique.

Templar Knights make a living off this, there’s no need for him to teach them.

Luckily, despite the world’s weapons and armor varying greatly, after excluding oddly shaped physical transformations, everyone essentially only has two legs and two arms, two fists.

Bare-handed fighting styles are many, but the principles are all the same.

”Let’s do this, I’ll demonstrate the method of confronting a great sword and equipment bare-handed.”

Huai Shi refused the equipment Aleksey offered, rolled up his sleeves, and advised: ”Change theirs to iron, it’d be closer to real combat.”

Aleksey was stunned for a moment, then nodded in agreement: ”Indeed, that’s better.”

In front of him, Huai Shi brought his five fingers together and slashed slightly.

A low space break sound suddenly erupted in the noisy training ground, the whistling sound echoed in everyone’s ears, causing the excited expressions to immediately become serious, amazed by the power contained within.

Even though the Sword of Disaster is renowned and recorded for mastering hundreds of weapons, achieving such terrifying power bare-handed was unexpected.

Purely in terms of lethality, it was already comparable to any meticulously crafted famous blade!

Soon, the first lucky person stepped up from below the stage.

It was Anton who had just stepped up.

Holding his helmet, his bruised and swollen appearance clearly showed he had fought with companions for this spot.

”Please guide me.”

He put on the heavy helmet, raised his weapon, eager to try, completely unaware of the compassionate look from instructor Aleksey standing at the side of the stage.

Poor kid, doesn’t realize he’s already become a teaching tool...

Each one of them, usually oblivious to the vastness of the world, really thought they could compete with this opponent this time.

Keep dreaming!

Bam!

At the moment when Anton roared and charged upward, before his words even finished, there was a deep thud.

The whole person seemed to be flipped by a tremendous force, along with the armor all over his body, slammed hard onto the rubber mat, while the Broad Sword that slipped from his hand danced in the air, casually caught by Huai Shi, held upside down, with the counterweight ball brushing the back of Anton’s head before retreating.

Snap.

A soft sound.

The winner was already decided.

Even if it were a child, with a Broad Sword as heavy as a sledgehammer, smashing it on Anton’s head would make him fall flat instantly.

The threat of a blunt weapon against an armored opponent is evident.

”Did you see clearly?”

Huai Shi asked, looking down, as Anton wore a look of confusion. The gasps of amazement around were brewing in their throats, and the scene was dead silent. Except for the few with sharp eyes, no one seemed to catch the details just now.

”Then, let’s do it again, this time I’ll slow down.”

Huai Shi reached out, casually pulling Anton from the ground and placing him back at the starting position, explaining to the people around: ”For an opponent with armor, ordinary striking techniques have no destructive power, and the steel structure of the armor ensures that joint techniques are also ineffective.

Similarly, with steel neck guard and protection on critical parts, grappling techniques are also useless. Unless your strength is great enough to twist steel, but in that case, skill is not really a point of discussion.

So, can anyone tell me, what are the remaining options now?”

In that instant, someone in the crowd suddenly realized: ”Ground Technique?”

”You guessed a bit right—”

Huai Shi smiled, making Anton, who was charging again, suddenly feel a chill. But as he instinctively tried to guard, he saw Huai Shi slightly sidestep, stepping forward, unexpectedly closing in.

With ease, he pressed Anton’s shoulder, pulling backward, while his right leg slipped between Anton’s feet, effortlessly breaking his balance.

In an instant, the sky spun, and the same deep thud reoccurred.

The whole earth came rushing up again.

Anton blacked out, almost unable to get up.

”Strictly speaking, this should be called a throwing and tripping technique, right?”

Huai Shi reached out, pressing on his back, preventing him from getting up again, and slowly explained: ”The previous demonstration isn’t really exemplary; you don’t have to deliberately learn it, just refer to the idea.

This isn’t some universal move; when the strength difference between both sides is too large, it might just result in getting your leg kicked off. It only holds potential to offset your weaknesses when the strength difference is not too big.”

He reached out and helped Anton up again.

”Let’s continue—”

Anton stood in place, panting for a long time before finally catching his breath.

This time, he no longer dared to charge with grandiose moves like last time, instead, he cautiously and slowly, step by step, closed the distance.

”At this rate, the enemy would have long run away.”

Huai Shi shook his head and smiled, but Anton remained unmoved, taking each step steadily without any oversight or openings, fully focused on maintaining a defensive stance.

”Surely you’re not planning to not go on the offensive?”

Huai Shi leisurely observed him, slowly raising his hand, aiming for the face behind Anton’s helmet: ”Looks like I’m going to have to come for you then.”

Just as Huai Shi clenched his fist, a huge chill emerged from Anton’s heart, making him shiver, instinctively slashing the Sword Blade at Huai Shi two steps away.

”Fool.” Aleksey shook his head and sighed.

At that moment, the punch Anton imagined to crush the iron helm and smash his head into pulp didn’t come.

Instead, Huai Shi’s five fingers spread open, easily dodging the sword’s edge as he stepped forward, then placed them on Anton’s armored forearm, followed by the other hand on his shoulder.

Pulled forward!

Originally, a more brutal and destructive over-the-shoulder throw could achieve the same effect, but considering the physical limitations of others, Huai Shi’s movement paused, switching to the current method.

Thus, in the long silence, only the dull thud of him hitting the ground echoed once more.

”Did you see clearly?”

Huai Shi pressed down on Anton’s back, explaining to the students sitting on the ground nearby: ”The key is to stay calm, don’t panic, find opportunities to break the opponent’s balance, and secure a chance for an effective attack or escape—just like this, or that, whichever way you prefer.

The protection provided by armor is also a limitation, once the opponent loses the ability to counterattack, the fight is over.”

Accompanying his words, Huai Shi’s palm rose and pressed down, leaving a five-fingered imprint on Anton’s helmet.

Then the hand knife sliced down, effortlessly tearing apart the connections on the heavy armor, causing the arm’s armor to fall away.

The movements of his hands were like phantoms, unclear to the eyes, so light they didn’t even make a ’space break’ sound.

When Huai Shi’s palm swept down from above, the armor on the ground had already shattered inch by inch, the sound of breaking steel continuing endlessly, until finally, Anton was left there breathing with difficulty.

And Huai Shi, just like someone who had just bent down to peel a scallion, calmly stood up, patted Anton on the shoulder, encouraged him for his effort, before raising his head to say:

”Next one.”
